I’m a lefty so it’s easy for me to pop out the pages from my happy planner so I can write without a coil being in my way.

Jennifer Maldonado OMG! I just posted something very similar as a Lefty & then I saw your post! As a lefty, the EC was very difficult for me to write in. I’ve never used the Happy Planner & was wondering if it was easier to write in?😊

Megan Mozena BUT, many people don’t write on the back of their paper (in school, etc.) so it very much still a rich-handed world! 😊

I used to use a Happy Planner and an Erin Condren Deluxe monthly (for budgeting) but felt like HP was so overwhelming for my planning style there was just too much and I'd get anxiety. So I switched to using a horizontal EC Life Planner and EC Deluxe Monthly (strictly for budgeting) this year and I found planner peace. I think if your creative and enjoy customization then HP is definitely the way to go. EC just allows me to be more focused and productive with my planning. I do use some HP sticker books but mostly use etsy and printables.

I think EC is more of a businesslike design, and HP is more whimsical. I imagine EC in the boardroom more so than a HP.

True, I use a big montly HP at work, but I have it in a plain Martha Stewart Discbound cover with different discs so that it looks professional on my desk. The heart cut outs on the HP discs seem so unprofessional to me that I even have to change them out on my personal HP (along with flipping over the cover) so it looks more grown-up if i have to use it at work.

I think that HP would do well to make at least one or two more 'neutral' styles every year. They have done them before. If nothing else, my spouse really would like to have a useful planner himself and other disc bound systems are for some reason ridiculously expensive.

I own both because I like both for the reasons why they are different. Honestly, sticker kits that you purchase off a sticker shop look best in the EC because of how the week is layed out. But I also love how HP look best in their planners. What can I say I am a true planner girl! I love all my planners!!!

  • @jalynwalsh2321

I have an interesting video idea. Now that you have an EC I feel like it would be interesting to see you purchase a weekly kit (like a scribble prints co. Ultimate kit) and just try out a different planning style. I know you’re loyal to the happy planner but it just might be a cool video to see a video like that from you. Stepping outside the comfort zone ya know! It could be cool to see you use a full weekly kit from the perspective of a happy planner sticker book user.

Love HP layouts, able to add/remove pages and price- EC has thicker paper, and you can decorate as you want. The price is higher but it doesn’t sell out and you are not going crazy attempting to find items 😘

Great review. When I was choosing a planner, I looked at the EC but fell in love with the HP because it's so customizable. I like that I can take out what I don't want and add what I do. They're both great, but like you said, it's all about personal preferences and what works for you.

I love how customizable the HP is. I also love all the packs available to add to it. If I don't like a theme, it's so easy to make my own dividers and inserts. TUL, Levenger, Martha Stewart and Inkwell Press products fit, so the possibilities are endless 💕

  • @MsBuffalicious

Great video, Heather. For HP fans worried about how HP looks in a professional setting, definitely check out a deluxe or snap on cover from HP if you can find them or a snap on cover from arc, TUL, Levenger, or Martha Stewart. I’ve seen so many people using discbound systems in boardrooms and hiring searches this year. There are so many options and no one needs to know what you’ve got going on inside if you don’t want them to. I was also crushing on the velum overlay in the EC planners a few years ago and took myself to Michael’s to pick up a page of velum that I punched and popped on my discs. It’s still in great shape after using it for 3 years. Thanks to your video I am DEFINITELY going to add a couple future dates pages to the back of my books.

One thing I particularly like bout my Erin Condren covers are playing with every color of the rainbow choice for most of the cover designs Can usually alter two overall colors within design
    To experiment
Go to choose a planner and pick customize
Go ahead and set name too as that will change
    I do my initials
Usually after moving covers a few time it's not so hard to get in place

Thank you for this!!! I just started using Happy Planner this January. I got interested in planning from watching a Beauty TH-camr. She was using an Erin Condren Planner, so I popped on to Amazon to look for an Erin Condren Planner (because I don’t like having to wait days or weeks for things to get delivered). I’m so glad I did, because Happy Planner came up & the rest is history.😂😂😂 I now have 4 Planners that I am actively using & 2 memory planners that I just bought on sale. I started watching you and a few other Planner babes & started gathering my thoughts on what planning style works best for me. Then I found Facebook planner groups & have purchased a bunch of accessories & sticker books. I’m hooked & already looking at the new releases & thinking about how to incorporate those with what I already have, or just switching over to the new ones in July.😂😂😂😂
So long story short, I love Happy Planner🥰 I love the styles, the layout options, the decor, the fact that I can move things around how I want them & add whatever I want. The discs are adorable & I love they they are coming out with more color choices. I guess the only downside to the Happy Planner is that I want all the things!!! I want all the sticker books, accessories, notebooks, etc!😍
I’m planning to make a Year At A Glance for the following years, because I think that is a great idea!!!!

With Erin Condren, you stand a better chance of getting new releases than you get with Happy Planner. The one thing that makes me insanely crazy is the lack of actually finding Happy Planner items in the store. But for a small fee of $70, you can get a Squad Life sticker book on Ebay.

  • @corashell7116

I love the Erin Condren planner. I have the “colorized horizontal Planner” and I like how you can customize the color of the cover and personalize it. The quality is outstanding. I don’t mind paying more because I’m going to have it for a year. It ends up being $5 a month. You can add pictures and cards with the coil clips. I bought the folio to match- since I take it to work with me. It’s also a great quality item. I don’t decorate this planner much- the colorized one really doesn’t need it. Heather- I love your videos and decorate my “Prayerful Planner” with the Happy Planner stickers. The Happy Planner stickers and Washi tape seems to be the best on the market. I hope the “prayerful planner “ people ask you to review that product. Its awesome!! Keep up the great work! I like your channel.

Excellent review! Over the years, I have used many different planners for work (think Franklin Covey, Day Timer, etc.). For a couple of years I went digital, trying to get away from paper. It just didn’t work for me, so last year I went back to a planner. I got an Eric Condren and I really liked the planner, but felt it was rather expensive. This year, in looking for a less expensive option, I went with a Recollections planner and while it’s okay, I’m not a fan of the horizontal layout I chose. I’m really looking forward to getting a Happy Planner next year. I think the customization is what has me sold. Not to mention, I already have a collection of sticker books. Thank you for doing this review. This is exactly what I needed to see.

I've never had an EC and have no desire to, either. I'm not a fan of the spiral notebook look. I love the hp because they are so pretty, customizable & they are more affordable! I'm a visual person, so if it's not pretty to look at I won't use it.

I’m sorry, but I ❤ my Erin Condren 7x9 horizontal LifePlanner. They’ve made changes to the planner since this video was made, but I love that EC is more customizable!! And I cannot live without her customizable stickers. She’s a little more pricey, but you know what? EC is worse every penny!! I only use HP stickers!

Having those tiny little note sections at the bottom of the weekly pages (in the Erin Condren) seems so pointless if the pages can't be removed. The whole convenience of being able to remove the pages (so you can write easily in tight/weird spaces) is space maximisation! How anyone can write in those tiny sections with the coils in the way and how thick the planner is actually puzzles me! I really like how neutral the Erin Condren is (in some ways I also like that they take AWAY the choices from me since MAMBI makes me feel like I never have enough stuff/planners) but practicality is a big thing for me... I need to be able to take out and remove pages!

I am commited to EC because I like the built in structure and knowing what I have to work with - being a person who gets distracted by new projects it’s good to set limits
You have inspired me to try franken planning an old EC next year on the side ( maybe for my garden redoing. - we do the work)
I found several videos about stabalazing EC edges and I bought two sets of rings
Need to see if I can use a regular one punch to work with rings - I don’t want to commit to cost of another big punch unless I find it works out
Thanks for so much inspiration and know how

I started out using an Erin Condren. I am now a Happy Planner Girl because I just could not constitute spending that much money on a planner. The colorful schemes do have more color though. The boxes inside Erin Condren used to be bigger. They have slowly been making the boxes smaller. The bottom of the week where it is lined is where you can write what you are having for dinner each day.

In the EC colorful planner, the boxes are divided by an ombre colored bar instead of the small gap in the neutral one. I personally have both EC and HP. I use my EC as my main planner and my HP for my faith journal.

I love the happy planner, it’s so cute and themed. And it’s a really nice price AND I can go over town and get it. (I’m in Canada). But I HATE the discs so much I can’t get over it. I find them so hard to flip through and I find when I take the pages out the discs ruin them. Erin Condren is expensive and I sometimes have to pay duty on top of the money exchange, but it’s coiled in and easy to turn and the paper quality is amazing. It’s such a hard choice!

Thank you for doing this video to show the difference between the two. If you wanted you could cut the stickers down like we do anyways sometimes, to fit into the EC boxes. For the Happy Planner, We can buy the paper packs for a notes section at the back, we can buy the folders to put in, we can do so much more customization with the HP. I looked into Erin Condren but by the time you customize it and place your order, your spending $80 on a planner. Some of us can’t afford that. I also heard, I don’t know though cause I’ve never used them, the stickers aren’t as nice as HP stickers. Which is why people buy the kits for their EC. What are your thoughts on the EC stickers?

I do wish Happy Planner would make more neutral planners (I would even go so far as to say they should produce ultra-plain, purely functional ones, just to open up their market a little) even though I love the themes. I think the disc thing is great for me personally, but I've definitely been enticed by the Erin Condrens. But $60? For a 12-month, ultra-plain planner that you can't customize past the cover and coil color? I'm gonna have to pass.

Aren't Happy Planners $29.99 now? Not that isn't still a good deal, especially with 40 or 50% off coupons.

I can’t use the Happy Planner aa I am not a fan of their designs. I want customize it myself. I don’t like the HP discs as it feels cheap in comparison

What is franchenplan? Does it mean combining planners?

      @taniasudduth5003 5 ปีที่แล้ว

Yes it is. For example, I have discs and cover from one planner, vertical from another, a horizontal from another, and pages from the budget expansion pack.

I was going to get an Erin Condrin but when you figure in the cost of the planner plus stickers and accessories, it's way too expensive. With the HP I buy everything on sale/with a coupon/on clearance. Also I love just going to the stores to get my stuff.

I’m new to this so not sure if this is the place to send my comment but here goes:
Your videos are what got me interested in planning and using the Happy Planner. I know you are no longer on the HP squad so I was relieved to hear you are going to continue with the Happy Planner. For that reason I decided to subscribe. I will no longer be following other HP ex-squad members who have “completely turned their backs” on the Happy Planner in favor of other products. I actually panicked wondering what I would do without being able to watch your design skills with the HP products! I understand if you utilize other products but Please keep producing your wonderful HP videos!! 😘

I did 3 years in EC before this year. I loved it and still love it. I chose Happy Planner this year because I am located in Canada and as a single mother I couldn't justify the cost of EC again. (Between price adjustment, taxes, duties and shipping it's almost $100)
While I'm enjoying my happy planner I do miss my EC and am trying to customize the HP to be more like it. This last week I cracked a.disc and then lost the pieces before I was able to take a picture. I'm currently waiting on metal discs. I'm hard on my stuff and don't feel like the HP is as sturdy.

I also think it's kind of hard on EC to compare the neutral layout to a HP. If you'd done the colourful layout it would have been more comparable ime.

The metal discs will change your life! All I use on my planner now are metal discs. They are SO much more study and reliable!

Thank you for the comparison. I have been thinking about using one? But now I have more information. I have heard their paper is amazing. I think I may like it for the office. Thanks so much again. Awesome! 💞💞💞
