    The first time I ever had all you can eat snow crab legs was in 1977 and it was $9.99 all you can eat. By the 1990s we were eating all you can eat crab legs at Trump casino and Trump Taj Mahal casino in Atlantic City. I believe it was $19.99 all you can eat. Then through to 2000's we were eating all you can eat crab legs all the time in Myrtle Beach South Carolina. They have almost 100 seafood buffets. Two of the buffets actually have large sea scallops including Captain George's. We used to pay like $29.99 to like $34.99, now it's like $49.99

    This buffet has a very attractive price and from your video it seems to be a great value also. The food looks fresh and tasty and the variety is awesome. This is a great place to bring groups of people with many different tastes and preferences. I've had opportunities to visit Buffet of Asia unfortunately I have yet to experience one. This Summerlin location seems to be a winner! I hope I get a chance to visit soon. Thank you for a great video review. Please keep up the good work!

    The shellfish you were eating was stuffed in a scallop shell, so it was probably baked scallop. BTW, there are no bones in shellfish. That is the shell you are removing your lobster and crab meat from. That's a fantastic deal. I'll be there next month thanks to your fantastic review.

    • @mmasque2052

      It may be stuffed/deviled crab, too. Crab meat (or krab meat if they’re cheap) some megetable, bread crumb and binder put into the scallop shell and baked. They’re crab cakes for all intents and purposes.

    Yes, at one time, all seafood (fish, crabs, lobster, oyster, shrimp) was considered fit only for peasants. I’m not sure if it was because it was so plentiful or the concept that most fish and shellfish were considered ‘unclean, or that it could spoil much more quickly than beef, lamb, goat or other land animal meats. I do think it gained more popularity as refrigeration arrived and extended its viability for transport.

    This place looks wonderful. All the food looks fresh. The only distasteful thing was how people were going at the lobster like vultures at 4:22. It always in particular bothers me how some people take tongs from other dishes to grab at the lobster. Not only have they contaminated the non-lobster dish with lobster stuff (and vice versa) but other people have to wait for the tongs too if they want the neighboring non-lobster dishes

    not so much money for so much food . in the Netherlands it would already be around 100 euros per person . especially with all that sea food. it is very expensive in the Netherlands the crab and lobster and shrimp and mussels .

    @ExploreVegas thanks for another good video! I've been waiting for your latest vids in preparation for our vegas trip in October. It's good to know there are still affordable buffet options considering the prices at the strip! How would you compare the quality of the lobster, snow crab legs, and other seafood there compared to say the Bacchanal or wicked spoon? Thanks a bunch! Can't wait till your next one!

    • @ExploreVegas
      @ExploreVegas  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Very different type of place. The ambiance on the strip is fancier. The Bacchanal and Wicked Spoon do not offer oysters on the half shell so that’s a win for this one. The lobster is prepared differently. It’s Cantonese style with a black bean sauce. Honestly, I find that tastier than the thawed and chilled lobster claws at the Bacchanal so another win for this one. The crabs however are better on the strip because they are snow crab. The crab legs at this buffet were not snow crab. The Buffet at Asia on Flamingo serves snow crab on Friday nights only and the price is in the $20 range, but there is no lobster.

    I have to mention something to you. Those are not snow crab legs from the United States or Alaska or Canada or the North Atlantic. They are the low quality Russian Tanner crab legs. The reason why I know this is because snow crab legs are red on one side and white on the opposite side. Russian Tanner crab legs are red on both sides and tend to be skinnier with less meat and usually have a sulfur smell or taste. The Russian Tanner crab legs also are very cheap at around $3.99 a pound.

    • @brittanygoodwin4041

    • @jeffhampton2767
      @jeffhampton2767 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@brittanygoodwin4041 Yes if you have sensitive taste buds like me you can definitely distinguish the difference. They have an odd flavor, almost like a faint sulfur taste. I figured it out about 10 years ago when we drove 100 miles for this Buffet waited in line for two hours, just to be ripped off by these low-quality crab legs that weren't even snow crab legs, then I have seen them again through the years at Chinese buffets. Next time call the buffet and question them and ask them where their crab legs are from and ask them what color are they on both sides. Because some restaurants do lie. Now if you want to know the scam about scallops I can let you in on that too if you want.

    Speaking as someone from Maine, my guess is that they’re serving rock (Caribbean) lobster instead of a New England lobster - they’re ok, but they tend to be much larger, cheaper, and not as flavorful as a traditional New England lobster - that’s the only way they could be staying in business

    Unbelievable. $25 for a buffet with that much crab and lobster? If this buffet was on the Strip, it would have been double or even triple the price. Lobster, crab, calamari, oysters and mountains of shrimp. If this buffet was perfect, there would have been scallops too, but at that price you can't go wrong. The only complaint I could possibly have here is that kimchi wasn't red enough. Red kimchi is spicy kimchi. Mrs. Explore Vegas would have loved my late mother. She could shuck a dozen oysters in less than a minute. Just one last thing. Explore Vegas Jr. is cute as a button. He's growing so fast. It must be from all that bread he eats at buffets.
