I live 5 minutes away from the Fox-Pitts and go hacking around the edge of their land, and drive past thir place every day when I go to work in the summer. The horses are always out in the sunshine, enjoying life and when I meet them out hacking they're the most relaxed, happy horses you could ever wish to see. I bet you're ecstatic that he's gone to such a wonderful home!
It´s so important to explain to all horse lovers and hobby riders, that a horse like he is now (from what he used to be 4 yrs ago) they cannot have in one month. That behind such a great change are years of constant and systematic work. Such an important thing people must see. For the good of their hobby horses. I´m sending big thank you for this time-lapse video, because what I wrote above is the greatest message I can see in it - for other riders and horse lovers. Especially nowadays when many people think that they may become unbelievable just in a minute. Thank you Doug and thumbs up for your work.
This gives me a lot of hope. One year ago I purchased an OTTB gelding that had no idea what a jump even was, and a year later he's soaring over three footers. No one else really believes that I can take this horse to the top but this just goes to show you that it absolutely can happen. Thank you.

Doug, what a wonderful 'bio' of your horse and how much love, hard work and ability you both have. I enjoyed watching this thoroughly and wished that there were more people who showed the progression of their horses from start to getting to the highest level that they can. I saw you ride at Rolex this year and was disappointed that you withdrew from the Cross Country - which was totally understandable. You come across as a good guy who rides beautifully and kind on your horses as well.

I'd like to add that you often see upper-level jumpers post the canter as well. They don't do it all the time and you definitely don't see it in lower levels, but it is often taught to jumpers because not only does it serve the same purpose as posting the trot when it comes to taking pressure off the horse's back, it is also really good for learning to and/or staying with the horse's rhythm. For that reason, I was actually taught to post the canter when I was still a novice jumper.

I like how expressive he is! He clearly loves his job! Right around the 15:00 mark you can really start to see the improvement in his trot. You've done well with him. For a tall and long horse he seems to have nice gaits: so many times with the big ones I find their gaits look herky jerky, but not this guy. I love the end conformation shot. What a handsome fellow he has turned out to be. Congrats on all the hard work, and good luck at your future events!

I absolutely love the photo of Running Order taking a good long look down at what he's doing as he leaps the roll-top in the water. Ha, hah -- that would've been a fun photo to send to George Morris's equitation critique column in 'Practical Horseman' back in the day. I can just seeGeorge's comments: "Although the rider is a bit rough-and-ready as is the fashion these days for eventers, he does an excellent job maintaining contact in the air over this tricky fence. The horse appears to be a scopey type."

You could see from day 1 this horse had great potential. He is a beautiful horse for sure, and he jumps very well, tucks his knees up. Looks like a nice ride.

Wow, I absolutely loved the addition of the GoPro. You an tell that horse loves the open cross country racing, and does the Dressage because he loves to please, but its really not that horse's 'thang'. Its how i feel when I have to dress up for something, I'd MUCH rather be running bare foot over hills and around trees! His form and growth were a pleasure to watch.
And heck- YOUR position on him over that rolltop in the water in that photo of his first intermediate?! 5☆s!!! You stayed with him sooooo great! Thats an AMAZING photo, haha!

Gorgeous animal--his topline has really improved, too. He may be a bit tight on his turns, but he seems pretty well-collected and flexes nicely in his neck--all indications of good training and good riding. Well done!
