I personally don’t even buy that this place is the biggest stadium in the world. Can they cram 150,000 people inside at a time? Probably. But in terms of real seating capacity, it was clammed for years and years that it was officially 150,000, then they drop that down to only 114,000. A stadium is probably defined as one contiguous structure. Indy certainly isn’t that. It’s a series of structures built near each other, some with large spaces in between.

@@Stettafire North Koreans get to go to the doctor when they get sick. I can't. I'm not saying they have it good, but I literally can't go to the doctor in the middle of a the pandemic of the century. This is how capitalism works.
Keep telling me how bad communism is while the "commies" in Cuba, Vietnam, Bolivia keep their poor people alive _without_ a self-worshiping dictator.
Side project - The Dish (parks australia).
The work they did on the Apollo program and also the recent radio waves from space.
7:17 Everytime I see Ole Kimbo I laugh bout how he's the only fat Asian in the entire country of North Korea 🤣🤣🤣
Very informative.
Antonio Inoki, the Japanese Wrestler, is now a member of the Japanese Parliament and has made frequent trips to North Korea as an unofficial envoy. Japan and North Korea still do not hold diplomatic ties and whilst Inoki has been criticised in some quarters, his efforts to build relations is largely seen as important. Especially as the Japanese Government is calling for the repatriation of the Japanese abductees.
The MCG holds over 100000 people and has a field area near identical to said North Korean stadium. Just saying....... Australian's are sports nuts.
I personally don’t even buy that this place is the biggest stadium in the world. Can they cram 150,000 people inside at a time? Probably. But in terms of real seating capacity, it was clammed for years and years that it was officially 150,000, then they drop that down to only 114,000. Still the biggest in the world but by a more believable margin. If I had to guess I’d say the actual capacity of this place is more like 80,000-90,000
@@Mr.E723 114,000 people crammed into the stadium might be true, but the place cannot meet modern safety standards. The venue only has one entrance road and one exit road. That's a disaster waiting to happen.
Michigan university’s football field holds more than 100,000 as well. At a certain point I would think there’s diminishing returns. You can get a good crowd atmosphere without sitting a half mile away and having 30,000 cars all leave at once
I'm Australian, Did You Know About A Proposed Sydney Stadium From 1963 It Would Hold Over 150,000 or 200,000 People
Newly built Motera Cricket Stadium in India holds over 110000 people, now it's the biggest Cricket stadium in the world beating Melbourne Cricket Ground.
I'm from Mississippi. I never knew our official flower was the same as North Korea. Mississippi is known as "The Magnolia State" because we have them everywhere. That's interesting. Thanks.
it's a rather different type of Magnolia
if I understand which one it is, the Oriental Magnolia has a very particular shape and fragrance, rather peculiar to the American Magnolia... it's flowers though, are half the size maybe
3:11 looks like a dish of cannelloni lol
I ran the Pyongyang Marathon there in 2016. Good to hear a bit more of the backstory. To be honest it didn't feel any bigger than the MCG, or Wembley, all of which I've done runs from and/or to the field. But once they're that big an extra 10,000 seats or so isn't easy to tell.
Your channel reminds me of the history channel’s modern marvels. And that’s a good thing. I love this channel.
I'm not sure what stipulates what is and what isn't a "stadium." But the Indianapolis Motor Speedway home of the Indianapolis 500(Indy Car) & the Brickyard 400(NASCAR) is the worlds largest sporting venue. It is capable of seating 400,000+ spectators.
Anyone able to explain the difference between a stadium and a venue?
A stadium is probably defined as one contiguous structure. Indy certainly isn’t that. It’s a series of structures built near each other, some with large spaces in between.
You should do one about the "great man made river" in libya.
Like so he can see this
Hey simon! Can you do a geographics or megaprojects or side projects about varosha cyprus??
correction. USA now has several stadiums that beat it. SoFi 288,500 square meters, Allegiant Stadium 92,903.04 Square Meters so USA foot ball is building out larger than North Korea.
Was expecting a Rick roll in the description....
I've been binging to much business blaze lmao
If you you’re more interested in north korea after this video i highly recommend the vice guide to north korea it’s a little dated now but still a great inside view at the hermit kingdom.
Scrolling the comments looking for KJU's assessment of the latest video he sponsored.
Apparently he's to busy somewhere else. I think he's out the back of the stadium blazin' ? ...
Allegedly. But you know... In the normal way. Not in the general way - or the way that makes Generals nervous...
Right above your comment ironically.
Been there in 2018 for the Mass Games. Quite impressive spectacle.
I Prague we have strahovský stadion, 63 000m2, 250 000 people! 😂
Now it's training center for football, 9 full playground 👌
It is known that when WCW/NJPW held the Collision In Korea they drew 130.000 people the first night and about 120.000 people the second night.
The Satellite image on google maps looks much different, almost like it's being demolished.
Yes.
Me: Can we get a megaproject video on the Astrodome?
Simon: Let's do a video about a North Korean stadium.
From the outside, it looks like a giant Bundt cake.
Bristol Motor Speedway holds 162,000 and hosts motor racing and football events in TN
It looks like a giant Bundt cake with white frosting 🤣
Indianapolis Motor Speedway can hold over 260,000 and can be expanded to nearly 500,000 with temporary seating
"Normally we talk about projects coming out of the Cold War, but today its the Korean War." Same thing.
Should do the Indy 500 stadium next. I think it might be the largest event stadium in the world.
Not even in the top 20 largest ones
still doesn't make it less of a modern day Medieval kingdom
If it can only hold 114,000 then the Big House in Ann Arbor Michigan has it beat, their record attendance is over 115k.
Do one on PNB 118 which is a mega tall building being constructed in Kuala Lumpur. Animations are very easily found online
Cheers Simon
Indianapolis Motor Speedway:
350,000+
The Indy 500 is the largest single day sporting event in the world (250,000 actually in stands)
Simon says "Supreme Leader" very respectfully.
Slight addendum: It was New Japan Pro Wrestling that put on Collison in Korea. The Japan Pro Wrestling Alliance folded after its founder, who funnily enough was actually born in what is today North Korea, died from a stomach infection caused by drinking sake after an operation for a stab wound
Not a fan of North Korea, but I like the design of this stadium. It is a big ego stroking project of course, they love stuff like that in N.K!
Best side project yet!
Next side project> Simon gets his teeth whitened.
Lake Ponchatrain bridge. Longest bridge for decades.
Topic suggestion: Indianapolis Motor Speedway. It’s got history and it’s even larger than this. Plus, fast cars always make things better.
Your boy with the blaze
...
Danny?
6:06 We're just going to casually ignore the Nature Boy Ric Flair and the NJPW legend Antonio Inoki no mentions...
It's the only reason I'd heard of the stadium before.......
Sooo... this is another of simons Chanel’s ? Well I guess I’ll subscribe again
I feel like the Michigan football reference in the description is a fairly obscure reference for a non-American/Michigander…. Nice work
Naughty Korea and Nice Korea (allegedly)
It actually doubles as a big jelly mold
Jello mold
And piggy boy un ate it all.
@@toolegittoquit_001 Google "British Jelly" and get back to us.
Hint: it's a gelatin desert and most of the English-speaking world speaks UK-English.
Is Bristol Motor Speedway not considered stadium? It’s 160k
Project Suggestion: I suggest a project necessitated by man made natural disaster. The Owens Lake dust mitigation project. The largest dust mitigation project in history. The man made disaster was alluded to in the movie "China Town". I was involved in the dust mitigation project. Probably qualifies for a Mega project.
