    And then assembly is supposed to be full of oil you're turning it upside down and I don't see it spilling oil anywhere

    Thanks for spending the time to create these videos and sharing them. I also have a Logan lathe that has yet to be restored and your videos will help greatly with it. With videos like these, we can fix the world! lol...

    Outstanding video. I'm a former USAF machinist and really missed making chips when I got out, so I bought a 10" Logan 1805 for my home shop and completely restored it. I soon found out that I really missed having a quick change gearbox (I primarily ran a Monarch 10EE at my unit, so I was thoroughly spoiled lol). Rather than sell the 1805 and get a different machine, I did a complete 1815 conversion by adding a quick change gearbox, automatic apron, shorter leadscrew and larger lead screw support bearing. All of the parts for the conversion were purchased used from multiple sources; your videos really helped me go through the apron and get the clutch mechanism figured out (turns out it was missing a friction disk so the feeds wouldn't engage). Thanks for making these videos - you clearly know your stuff. Your efforts are very much appreciated!

    I stopped the video just before you started working on the apron you're supposed to adjust that nut tell just before you get motion in the carriage and then you engage with the lever you pop it into year in other words you move it the rest of the way with the little spring assembly in there and it tightens it up pulls those clutch plates together the rest of the way like I say by using the lever did you try doing it that way before you took it apart

    hi.. nice vid... do you know for what is the plug bolt under the apron??? should the apron be filled with oil???

      Thanks!! The bolt at the bottom, if I understand the one you are referencing, is there to drain old oil out of the apron. If you have the automatic apron, i.e., a clutch, it does need to have a certain level of oil to work properly. Without oil, the engagement of the power feeds will get sticky and may not engage or let loose when it should. There is a hex head screw to the right and below the power feed lever, you take that out, fill the apron from the top (the left side hex head screw on top) until oil starts coming out of that hole that used to have the hex head in it. Then stop filling and put the hex head back in. The clutch mechanism is in a kind of oil bath, or at least gets plenty of oil as the various gears carry oil from one place to another. HTH
