  • Why is water essential for Life to exist on Earth? We are about 60% water - and there are some organisms that are as much as 90% water! What is so important about water? How does it support life?
In this video, we discuss the special properties of water that make it the “Solvent of Life.” Chief among these properties is the extensive Hydrogen Bonding between water molecules that make water an extremely cohesive liquid (the molecules stick together). Due to the extensive hydrogen bonding, water has some emergent properties that impact life on Earth in many ways. These include:
    Cohesion
    Adhesion
    High surface tension
    High specific heat
    High heat of vaporization
Ice Floats (Ice is less dense as a solid than liquid water)
For each of these properties, we discuss how they impact living creatures on Earth.

Wow! You are a life saver. My Biology teacher is not so great at teaching and so many of us are failing. I study and read the chapter but her quizzes are always before teaching the material and so so in depth. This video was in depth and like reading my chapter but come to life. You have such a wonderful way of explaining. I am so grateful....thank you so much!

This is the loveliest most ethreal biology video I've ever seen. I've grown orchids for 20 years so the background is pretty awesome. Also no joke I used to have a pet Jesus lizard(aka basilisk lizard) and his name was Jesus(pronounced Hazeus) unfortunately when bred in captivity they're not able to run on the water.

Thanks again. Truly gifted with saintly voice and demeanor- the brain learns and absorbs better, your voice and overall look/presentation. If I may be deep scientist mode (yup I'm technically a scientist too, a kind of engineer) I guess because the brain and mind is relaxed via the cool, kind voice frequency and tone, it seems to resonate w/ the brain and thus the mind, making the brain work more efficiently to focus well. If this physics biology segment is in VR (it can be just static 3D, panning around could be a distraction), it'll even be more focused.
    See you in heaven, Kimberly.
