What I especially love about this version is: 1) The metal cuts in as soon as Luna theoretically becomes Night Mare Moon 2) The final verse is repeated with a stronger version at the end.
Well, that was a brilliant idea of mine. I just listened to these epic songs in chronological order: 1: Come Little Children 2: The Moon Rises 3: Lullaby for a Princess 4: Luna's Response
I did the same with Discord. But I put all the songs together in one video :D Check it out if you want. I know, this is pretty cheap spam, but come on!
CrimsonEbonyTears Where does "Moonrise: A Symphonic Metal Opera" fit into that list? And do "Luna's Soliloquy" or "Luna's Lullaby, Celestia's Lament" fit into the list? Are there any I missed?
StrategicGamesEtc Yeah, I have since listened to those phenomenal pieces. The biggest one to deal with would be the insane masterpiece known to us as: Moonrise. Throughout it, it literally goes the journey from Luna's loneliness to her transformation in Nightmare Moon to her to her rebellion and banishment and finally to Celestia's mourning of her. That one really does encompass all of the journeys of the above pieces, save for the idea of "Luna's Response".
StrategicGamesEtc Indeed. As I said, it pretty much tells the whole story all in one song while the other songs focus and elaborate upon individual portions.
"I'll save you!" boomed a heroic voice from the distance, and in rode a knight in glittering armour on a white unicorn (with an expertly-styled mane). As he leapt dashingly from his noble steed he cried, "I am Equestrian Beats, and I am here to free you from the tyranny of Soundcloud forevermore!" ;) This song's been up on Equestrian Beats for a while, there's free downloads in lots of different formats there. Link's in the description.
I've been saying for a while now that there needs to be more epic metal covers of MLP related songs. Electronic is great and all, but with the emotion involved in Metal I think it just fits it more. And the extreme metal side of things doesn't work that well. So very well done for making this!
For those of us that enjoy reading lyrics: Now the hour has come at last The soft and fading light Has crossed the west horizon And has bidden us goodnight And what a lovely night it is To walk a moonlit field To see the softer shades That are by starlight now revealed So why is it that now, When all is quiet and at rest When candles glow and all the world Is at its very best The ponies of Equestria Should lock themselves away To shun the moon and wait instead For Sister's sunny day? In umbra Luna est (the moon is in shadow) Am I so wrong to wish that they Would see things like I do? And am I so wrong to think That they might love me too? Why shouldn't they adore me? Is it not within my right? I'll not be overshadowed! Mine is not the lesser light! I've waited long enough now For them all to come around And though the Sun may plead and threaten, The Moon will stand her ground And all will know the wonder Of my dark and jeweled sky When all the world is wrapped In an eternal lullaby So say goodnight at this, The final setting of the sun Tomorrow dawns in darkness The nighttime has begun! Nocte! (x3) (night!)
Buck yeah. The last segment of the song was just begging for a metal version, in my opinion, and now you've made this a reality. And this is a job really well done right here. Your guitarwork has always been impressive to me. Thanks!
If I was going to cover City Escape it would probably be based off of the classic version. I've kind of got a backlog of projects at the moment though, but I might get to it ... eventually.
I have no idea how I got here but I'm glad I did. Not many videos live up to the self titled "epic ___ video" but yours does just that. Very awesome. Also dat choir.
To be honest I thought that a woman would sing it...but after I heard this I am going to download this song to my collection of epic songs becuase of your smart and beatiful voice..
i checked out your channel and cant stop listen to any of your songs.... sitting in my room with 8 songs playing non-stop and at the same time... XD good work
This is really ABSOLUTELY fantastic! The only negative side I'd say is when the guitar REALLY comes in and it actually left me straining to hear your voice over it, which is one problem I have with a lot of metal. I think it was really fantastic and I LOVED the ending like none other!
Maybe? I'm not sure I could bear to defile such a beautiful song with my vocals... (Also it's kinda a little high for me? Though I could always head-voice it. Hmmm.)
This is the first cover of "The Moon Rises" that I've liked... like at all. Standing ovation. (Props for that last note. You've earn the Colm Wilkonson 24601 award--both are B's if I'm not mistaken, unless you changed the key)
I don't actually have tabs for this song, usually I tab things out as I'm writing / arranging songs but it wasn't necessary for this one. The rhythm guitar part is mostly just power chords (in drop tuning, which makes them super easy).
Wow. Just wow. The only cover that I liked of this song. At first I was very sceptical and more or less expected a joke or a parody... I mean, The Moon Rises? In metal? You, however, delivered. Vocals were amazing, instrumental kept the feel of the original and it was awesome. Although, I believe if you stopped at 2:28 or somewhere at that point, it would have been even better.
... you mean I should have skipped the entire guitar solo? But that was mostly the reason I covered this song :( (I'm glad you enjoyed my vocals though!)
I love the original because it has the feeling of a Broadway Musical. This one gives me more of an 80s/90s animated movie vibe and I love it just as much.
I just found this mix and it is so amazing! With the recent hype of the new extended version, I was wondering if you were going to do a version of that too, if not that's totally okay but it would still be cool to see!
First time hearing this. Very nice and big sound! I just uploaded a song called, "Ponyphonic, We'd Like Another Song". Since I am Ponyphonic's Dad (and it's almost Father's Day), I am hoping to get him moving on music with a bit more urgency.
What I especially love about this version is:
1) The metal cuts in as soon as Luna theoretically becomes Night Mare Moon
2) The final verse is repeated with a stronger version at the end.

when he started to sing i almost cried because you can just hear the effort and the emotions behind it ;w;

You have an amazing singing voice. You have perfect on time vocals and perfect key notes....10 out of 10 no lie...
His voice makes this extraordinarily better!

This should seriously be more popular than it is.
At long last someone made a metal version of this! :D This song just made my day. ^^
Lol, now we need a symphonic black metal version too xD
Ok wow this is really underrated. As a metal music fan I knew I was going to enjoy this but damn still got surprised
As soon as I heard this I stumbled out of my chair and grabbed my SD card to download this masterpiece.
I would die of happiness if Marko Hietala did the vocals for this!! Great cover either way.
This song is already epic but you made it much more than that! You made it complete and justice with metal! Very progressive. Thank you.
Buck yeah. The last segment of the song was just begging for a metal version, in my opinion, and now you've made this a reality. And this is a job really well done right here. Your guitarwork has always been impressive to me. Thanks!
That background chorus sent shivers down my spine. It's nice listening to someone who can make awesome metal remixes to amazing songs
Bro, every metal cover you have done on My Little Pony I have loved, and this just solidifies that! Thank you for your music!
Chills. This song gives me chills. I'm sweating from the heat outside, and now I have goosebumps.
NLR!

There's more vocal work coming! I'm actually working on another vocal cover at the moment.
This sounds like Osiris/Artemis is singing this. Perfection.
If I was going to cover City Escape it would probably be based off of the classic version. I've kind of got a backlog of projects at the moment though, but I might get to it ... eventually.
Good job metalifying this song.
I have no idea how I got here but I'm glad I did. Not many videos live up to the self titled "epic ___ video" but yours does just that. Very awesome. Also dat choir.
Amazing
LOL whaaat? Surely you can't be serious man. That solo was EPIC!
Symphonic Metal, hell yeah! Epic cover for an awesome song.
I still think that guitar solo is brilliant. Both simple and melodic, it fit the song so very well.
Yet another astounding Metal version of a good song~ I love your work L-Train keep up the good work!
To be honest I thought that a woman would sing it...but after I heard this I am going to download this song to my collection of epic songs becuase of your smart and beatiful voice..
