    Thanks Robin. I’m doing the Madrid route because I have done the CF but haven’t got time to do the La Plata and I may not be fit enough .There are so many long stages. I love the quiet parts of the Camino. Grateful to find a blog on the Madrid route

    I thought that was a quilt on the wall. I have followed you as a quilter and now I’m following you as a fellow pilgrim. Just completed the Camino Frances on 9/22 from Saint Jean. Thanks for your tip on the cutting board and knife. They came in so handy on my journey.

    Just viewing this and notice that you finished 5 days ago. Bravo you! I am wondering if you can do a post-Camino review to comment on this packing list. Your lighter pack list is very helpful in adding things to mine that I forgot. Getting there.....

    Good list, obviously know what you're doing. That's the same bag (well the men's version) I had earmarked for Caminos. Personally I like water bottles over bladders, lighter, easier to fill and clean. I needed a head torch sometimes when getting up early to avoid the heat on the Via de la Plata, but even then maybe the phone torch would have done in a pinch really. I think my next Camino I'll be taking a decent evening shirt, got tired of heading out to restaurants in full hiking gear. Really like your travel blanket, nice and light ,synthetic, perfect for summer Camino.

    Thanks for the detailed packing list link. I hope to do my 1st Camino in Sept/Oct and want to keep my pack to 12lbs before H2O. I may buy the Gossamer Gear Kumo 36 to save a pound or more.

    It’s been less than a month and I’m already re-watching this. I ended up buying the Osprey Scarab 30 which is a hydration bag but I won’t be using a hydration system. The bag itself weighs only 1 1/2 pounds. I tried the Lone Peak 6, but I realized that I overpronat, which means my ankles roll inward. Lone Peak 6 have no heal or ankle support at all. Saucony makes a few different trail runner models and all are very supportive in the heal and ankle.

    Do you think that the gravel travel blanket would be warm enough for a Sept?early Oct Camino Frances pilgrimage?

    • @heyrobin
      @heyrobin  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I’m not sure. When I did the CF last September, the alburgues were not giving out blankets but when I did my walk this year, they all had blankets. What I would do is figure out how cold it’s expected to get and get a sleep system that was rated for that temperature. You can always pack a wool cap and socks to wear on really cold nights.

    Hola Robin I've gone from 20kgs to 10kgs and now 5.5kgs 3 different Camino's heavy was a lesson on what not to carry but finished with 18.5 kgs in Santiago scaling down is now paramount, your needs are relevent to you but it finally comes down to pack weight for the next 30 +days your final weight is very good indeed with 1.5 kg for water if you fill completely, enjoy your trek Buen CaminoPilgrim R I P John Brierley

    Hello--could anybody tell me how does one arrange for the sending the backpack ahead and how much it costs? Thanks!

    • @heyrobin
      @heyrobin  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The alburgues usually have envelopes that you write the name of the delivery destination on and include payment inside. The usual cost is 5€

    How did you choose Madrid route over all the others?

    • @heyrobin
      @heyrobin  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Sorry, I just noticed I never answered your question. I chose the Madrid route for one simple reason; it was where the plane landed. Haha! I figured I could take a train to Pamplona or somewhere like that or I could just start walking! The laziness in me won!

      I’ve used a couple of Fanny packs but the one I like has three pockets and is made by JCLX. It’s no longer available on Amazon. Yes, it does fit my credential because the one I got from America is smaller than the others I’ve seen
