I think a hard shell tonneau cover painted to match would look much, MUCH better on there!! That's actually my preference on all trucks though. To me they not only make a truck look nicer, but they also give it a finished appearance. I've always thought the soft black vinyl/plastic tonneau covers look like a temporary fix until the owner can afford a permanent tonneau cover.
