Such gorgeous pages this month!! ❤ I loved the nice little town pages and all the Mythographic ones. Specifically the red panda…wow!! So pretty. Thanks for sharing Shelly!! ☺️
Welcome to the wonderful world of Matchstick Mouse! She’s super cute! Loving your pages as always! Your reindeer is gorgeous! I’ll have to use your colour along when I colour that page in my book. ❤
Your artwork is so so gorgeous . I love seeing these videos from you. If I could get my pictures, half as good as yours, I’d be a VERY happy little camper. Tysmfs 💜
What I also do to get the bokeh background with Neo II’s is taking the white crayon and add some circles 😀 it’s soft but it works. Didn’t know you can erase the Neo II’s. I will definitely try that out. Gorgeous pages Shelly! I really have to color in my “Die welt unter der lupe zu lande”-book again. It was my second book ever and I messed up so many pages by experimenting that I don’t take that book very often anymore.
Oh!! That is such a good idea, I did not even think to use the white crayon 😂 I know what you mean about experimenting in the earlier days, I don't like many pages in my earlier books too, but I am so glad I did not stop pulling out Zu Lande, I really like that book. Hope you get some inspiration to colour in it again 🤗💗
Beautiful pages, love your work in the Mythographic books, I've still not done a page in the only one I have, I just find them rather intimidating, you make it look so easy. Thanks for showing, x ❤
Thank you so much, so glad you like my pages. I think you would do a wonderful job in the mythographics!! Just dive in, I am sure you will definitely enjoy colouring in them 🤗💗
You might like the newest Spring Matchstick Mouse. It has a lot of other animals in it (chicks, ducks, hedgehog, guinea pigs, sheep, bunnies, even a cow) which is a nice change from the previous which were 90% mouse. I own the entire series and really enjoy it but I hope future books continue the trend of more animals because although she is adorable it does get a bit tiresome doing mouse on almost every page. I do her a multitude of colors which helps a bit.
Thanks for the heads up, I will check out a flip through. I have so far done only one page in the current matchstick mouse book I have so I really need to get some more done before I can justify another book 😂😂
Beautiful pages Shelly can’t wait to see your spring pages I’m ready for some vibrant flowers 🌺 thank you for sharing have a great weekend happy coloring
I love your page in Mythographic Menagerie! The red panda is absolutely stunning, love the color choices, so pretty! The page in Fairy Tales is also gorgeous! Beautiful pages, thanks for sharing!
I need to find a good way to store my paint pens, I think I would use them a lot more. I color in bed, and need my stuff confined so it doesn't spread everywhere but easy to grab... single loop pencil cases are my go to for them and gel pen, but I've yet to find one that is designed for the thicker paint pens and markers. I currently have my posca pens in a traditional zip top pencil bag and having to dig through them means I often just don't bother. I intend to pick up the earth set you use which is a lot so storage will be even more of an issue. I recently got the full set of Albrecht Durer, and they are just so nice. I had about 20 already, but even mixing them with my other sets of watercolor pencils (Goldfaber and Arteza expert) is nothing like using them exclusively. I sat down to do a page with them and wound up doing three pages back to back.. just a joy. I also recently got the push button derwent waterbrushes and again they are a huge improvement. I had at least six or seven other types.. including the push button carandache which are lovely but just don't come in a small enough size.. and the derwents are a whole other level of nice.
So glad to hear you are enjoying the AD pencils. I wasn't so sure about how much I enjoyed the Derwent water brushes, but it may be because I have gotten used to the Pentel ones I use. I store my paint pens in a pencil set which holds 2 pens per loop which works really well for me and I leave a gap between the different sets. It is definitely easy to look for the colour I need 🤗💗
Beautiful work! The Fairy Tale page was my favorite. Your coloring made that rabbit come to life. I have that book but have not colored in it yet. You just inspired me!
My first Mythographic was Wild Winter.. and I really struggled with the crystals etc as well. Since every single page has snowflakes, snow, ice, and crystals though.. I got over my fear pretty quick, it was jumping in the deep end of the pool lol. I found not being afraid to leave some facets pure white while simultaneously leaving some of the dark lines and being much more limited with the white pen helped a lot with the crystals, when they are all grouped together like that the contrast is really the only way to make them not turn into a mush of undefined shapes. Those books can be really challenging.. you have to be ok with so many different "specialty" textures, not just the ice and snow but water, glass, metal, wood, fur, hair, and skin as well.. all at the same time.
Totally agree! The mythogrpahic books as a whole are very challenging books to colour it and very busy books. So not for those who are not keen on such massive challenges! But I absolutely love them and I enjoy breaking down the pages bit by bit and splashing them with colour. In the add it always seems so worth it! 🤗💗
