A great comedian is not going to hold his cards close to his chest. He's going to help everybody he can. And he's not going to be insecure about anybody being better than him. He wants there to be more jokes in the world. He just loves comedy.

I read Greg deans stand up comedy book. It was amazing. I never thought joke making was teachable. But then I saw Jerry Corley videos on youtube. And I understand now that Dean only got it half way. In order to fully understand you need to experience how Jerry create jokes, like 15 Jokes in 30 minutes. I mean it is amazing. You simply feel that energy and he explains everything clearly. But no explanation can beat the practical examples.

There’s a few jokers out there trying to teach comedy, but honestly Corley’s free stuff is the closest thing I’ve found online to a legit free comedy workshop. You can at least get a method (or like 15) from him.

I understand that there is -
    Surprise
    Embarrassment
    Superiority
    Release
    Configurational
    Incongruity
    Recognition
    Ambivalence
    Coincidence

Jerry says he quickly wrote a 25 minute set geared toward a business’ fear point, then he performed it for them. I wonder how long it took him to memorize the act or did he use notes? I don’t see how he would have time to memorize it as fast as he needed it. Am I misunderstanding or is it okay to use notes in these corporate gigs?

I have this problem when I write stoned. Sometimes I get good ones, but I get a lot more jokes that only I think are funny when I write high. I stopped smoking weed for a week or so and my jokes were way sharper that week.
But maybe you don’t get high, and none of this applies to you! ✌️
