I love the API but I feel all the tracks are super compressed even before its hits the API so you cant really hear its influence as you should be hearing it
I'm a big fan of UAD plugins, they're very authentic. One delay I'd like to hear modelled is the Ibanez DE-7. Yeah, its a digital delay but the lofi echo mode has a very special tone, especially when feedback overdrives the analog part of the circuit. One of the best delay sounds of all time IMO.
What is everyone’s take on the UAD Satellite DSP devices especially the Quad and Octo, “do you think they will discontinue these products line and stop supporting it like what Focusrite did to Liquid Mix”?
4:03 massively confuses me. He's saying a slow attack and fast release equals the most punchy drums. Yet he has the fastest possible attack enabled from the Little Smack preset and the fast attack I swear is supposed to make it punchy? I don't know anything I'm just trying to learn
Great info!!! Do you know how to connect Burl B2 Bomber ADC to Apollo 6x for tracking? I'm using using a Neumann 103 into bae 1072 preamp MacBook pro m1 Cubase 12 Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks .😎
@@UniversalAudio Thanks so much! Do I use a SPDIF RCA CABLE out of the B2 Burl into the Apollo 6x SPDIF RCA INPUT? Also do I set the Apollo 6x to clock internal and the B2 Burl to EXT I've been a UAD APOLLO user for many many years with great results.Thank you .....😎
The link section allows you to variably link (or unlink) left and right such that even amounts of compression will be applied to each side. Further, there are filters here that allow even more customization for how these signals are handled.
@@luv-tsa3692 That filter de-emphasizes the topend in the detection circuit, meaning that variations in the topend will impact the gain reduction LESS.
@@TadDoylemusic yeah, such a dumb move by them. Luckily I bought it just 10 months earlier with EDU discount so I have it for life. You can still find a limited amount of copies online for the perpetual license (no EDU discount though) so that's always an option -- until they're sold out forever, of course.
the example tracks sounded already dead on arrival, not needed of an API compressor. - that drum track is probably one of the worst ever sounding lifeless, grooveless and non musical drum record i have ever heard!.;... "gives you a nice punchy drum sound" ??? you must be kidding , right?
So the only trick with the 2500 is to use presets and have a basic understanding of compression controls? There are ACTUAL tricks with this compressor (such as make up gain on guitars, etc) that you left out in favour of "slow attack allows more transient through" which is not specific to the 2500... Dunno man. I'd like a tip or trick to get that 6 minutes of my life back.
Bruh. Make-up gain is a trick to you??? That's literally the most BASIC control and only needs common sense to use.... @@Jordan-rb28 While I absolutely love how smug you are while not knowing the difference between transparent digital gain, and specific analog character saturation, I think that maybe you should have done 5 minutes of research before diarrhoea-ing your ignorance all over this comment section. Driving the make up gain for guitars IS actually a trick specific to the hardware 2500. Just to make sure you get this: It’s not about raising the volume or gain-staging, the same way that turning up the gain on a tube amplifier is often not just about raising the volume (did I just blow your mind?) Longer attack time to let transient through is not about the 2500 at all. That’s just literally the most basic thing to know about compression. Agreed
Yeah, it is actually a bad example of the capabilities of the API. The drum sound is better BEFORE the api - in this video. 😄
Yeah, it's a compressor... and this is TH-cam, over compressed audio from video. But you can test for yourself in your system.
It’s a bus compressor… on a Master fader… of course the source material is going to be compressed prior to hitting the 2500.
@@Janomix no that's not the problem, this is a bad example of the api doing its thing

Theres a free vst that emulates it very well. I cannot remember the name of it however. Also, that pedal is not analog in any way.
Awesome! I can hear the clear difference in the settings. Awesome tool to shape music with. Great demo.
Thank's guys! UA forEver! Peace!✌🌝🌍🌌
You're welcome!! Glad you enjoyed!
Thanks! Isn't this available on the API console plugin?
Great video ,very helpful and inspiring

Come on! Launch more plugins for spark!! Please all the neve collection, manley stuff, capitol reverb 🙏🏻
I love this plugin so much it made me buy the hardware😂
Yup, happens all the time!!!
I have no need for this type of hardware in my life right now but yes this would be the top choice for me too
if you loved the plugin you wouldnt need the hardware. nice trolling there
Wouldn't be nice to come install a few stages in Socal ?
Why the Mix knob is not 100% wet on these examples.

Nope!! No plans to discontinue any of our products!!
Excellent, thank you!

At 4:03, the Attack is set to the slowest setting.
Slow attack (engage compression), “lets transient through”.

Correct. Connect a word clock cable from x6 to Burl and clock the Burl from the Apollo.

Interesting that Ben is using Pro Tools instead of LUNA. Hmmm 🤔
FYI, I like many people, I dumped Pro Tools when Avid went to subscription-based pricing.
I love using the API 2500 for many compression tasks. As @LucidDaydreams mentioned, it is great on guitars. 🤘

Hello UA, any giveaway ? In near future?
Sorry Rajkamal, we can't comment on any future promos. We appreciate your interest though and encourage you to stay tuned.

I thought the drums sounded better with the plugin bypassed. And all it did to the guitar was bring up the string squeaks which is not what you want.
