Great video, thank you so much. In your experience, do you think we can pass just by knowing the differentials, investigation and management? I was originally planning on going through cases for paces to learn about random facts they could ask you, but can I pass even if they do happen to ask me specific questions that I don't know the answer to? Similarly, do you think your brainscape deck covers enough content to comfortably pass?

Hi, glad it was helpful! The examiners do technically have free reign to ask whatever they want, however, in general, questions about investigations/management are the bread and butter topics that they are most likely to begin with. On that basis, I think it's very important to make sure you are happy with the basics before trying to learn particularly esoteric content. I made the brainscape deck as I was going through Pastest videos - I included facts that I wanted to commit to memory that didn't feel completely settled in my brain. I left out a lot of the basic content that I was confident on so there will be several topics that are under-represented in the deck. It was purely made as a revision aid and was not designed systematically based on a curriculum.

@@MakeaMedic Thank you so much for your response and explanation. I've been using your deck and it's incredible. It's made exactly how I would have made it after watching the videos too. After each Pastest video I'd think I'd want to make a card out of that, and then check your deck to find that you've already done so. Legendary stuff mate, saves me so much time. I've converted the deck to Anki as that's what I personally prefer, but thank you so much for making this deck public!

A really excellent video, very clear and concise, (liked and sub'ed) so thank you! I'm aiming to sit PACES myself next year (2025). I would appreciate your advice as I am currently working in primary care; my role does involve me seeing and examining patients daily, who can have signs (depending upon the condition in question). However, with me not working in secondary care, do you think that joining a hospital PACES group is pretty essential in my circumstances? Or could this be done in primary care? I would appreciate your thoughts here. Thanks again

Hi, I'm glad you found the video helpful! I'd say it is more difficult to find signs working in Primary care as you wont have much control over who falls on your clinic list. I do think joining a PACES group at your local hospital would be a good idea - I don't know the best way of doing this but I imagine you will need to go via medical staffing/human resources and ensure you are granted the necessary permissions to see patients at the hospital. The PACES courses are also a good way of seeing a lot of patients with clinical signs.
