Arnel is now the longest tenured lead vocals for Journey....since 2007. Contrary to popular belief Steve Perry was not the original lead vocals for Journey. They started out with founding member Greg Rollie in lead vocals and keyboards in 1973, Perry joined in 1977-1987 and 1995-98, he was replaced by another Steve....Steve Augerie in 1998-2006....Jeff Scott Soto 2006-2007 and Arnel 2007-present. This was an impromptu performance as both of them just met on the bus by circumstance promoting each of their own concerts or shows...notice how they are looking at the lyrics on their cellphones as of course they didn't have time to practice or rehearse. Arnel is a universally respected artist in the Philippines....he's like the GOAT of all GOATs (lead vocals of Journey, are you kidding me?) Notice also that Mori is kinda fangirling at the end of that performance in the presence of said GOAT.

He found music and was performing in a cover band in a hotel lobby in Manilla when someone filmed him and put it on TH-cam. Neil Schon (founder of Journey) had been looking for someone to replace the iconic Steve Perry for years and someone called him and said you need to see this guy (Arnel) on TH-cam. Needless to say he thought the video was a joke or doctored in some way. In the end they brought Arnel to the States to audition and after a rocky first day of singing....Arnel came back and blew them away. I describe the auditory sensations like running your hand on a course tree trunk half covered with silk! Dob Dylan would have never done a duet with Barbra Streisand! Neil Diamond, yes, but never Bob Dyland! The contrast is too sharp and wrong to my ears: rather irritating. I, like you love Morissette's smooth silky voice and she would have sounded great by herself! That contrast, unlike Daryl Ong in , You Are The Reason, doesn't work for me. I found it irritating to listen to, not at them necessarily, but at the combination. I understand it was spur of the moment decision to sing this.
