Because my ancestors are very well discipline and hard working. Every generation are planned and taken care of financially. Of course we do aim more as it is normal. But rest assured we don't deviate from the morale path. If we go to that level our family fail and disperse and without a family where is the nation.

PM Lawrence Wong is the everyday Singaporean who studied hard as a student, worked hard as a civil servant and by fate, walked into the path of premiership. His first big move is to upgrade the workforce and provide a safety net for those who lost their job. 1k per month would mean the world to someone who is in that period of transition. It calls for a bold budget from the government but a worthy one indeed. No matter what challenges lies ahead, I hope we will always rise stronger as a nation.

I am a 53 yrs old Singaporean, recently going back to University, making use of the skill futures top up and enormous amount of subsidies provided for mid age learners. During our time there were only NUS and NTU, and most of us who were not outstanding academically could not find our ways into tertiary learning. With the initiative and support by our country, I am now finally fulfilling a long overdue dream. Hopefully this new skills and knowledge acquired will create new opportunities for me ahead too!

This team has come a long way. When the then Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew was delivering his speeches at the National Rally, Goh Chok Tong was sitting in the front row of the audience. The latter then became the next speaker on the stage and presented his ideas and plans. After serving the nation for a long time, he was back in the front row watching those pronounced by Lee Hsien Loong Loong and now Lawrence Wong. The steadfastness of our leaders and our people in carrying out the foreplanning has built a modern Singapore. We can be proud.

SINGAPORE: Keeping Singapore strong and united, and sharing the benefits of progress to uplift all Singaporeans and not just a few.'
This was a key message from Prime Minister Lawrence Wong , who delivered his first national day Rally speech on AUGUST 18 at the ITE College Central in Ang Mo Kio.
PM Wong, who took over as Singapores Fourth Head of Government in May, said Singapore needs a renewed social compact where every Singaporean feels there is hope. It is also where all citizens, even the most disadvantaged , know that they can get a fair shot in life and can get ahead if they make the effort and work hard, he said as he outlined enhancements in area such as families, jobs, housing and education.
Here are eight highlights from his speech delivered in Malay, Mandarin and English.
    1. Share Parental Leave (10 extra weeks of share parental leave; total of 30 weeks for parents by April 2026) 2.New scheme to provide up to $6,000 to job seekers ( 3. Housing enhancements for couples, Singles and aged. 4. Gifted Education Programme to be revamped. 5. Higher mother tongue learning 6. Kallang Alive Masterplan 7. Prime waterfront coastline. 8. New Singapore College of Islamic Studies.

Wonderful speech! 🎉... But What about work-from-home policies if mom is able to do something? I've heard that many employers may only have these policies because they are required by the government, but they refuse to let employees actually use them. I think the government needs to do more to monitor these policies. And I'm not sure what employers are afraid of.😢

    • @koyoyokomo2581
      @koyoyokomo2581 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I believe the government should provide more explanations to employers to help them understand the benefits of WFH for businesses. It would reduce employers' concerns and demonstrate that it's a win-win policy for both employers and employees!❤🎉

WFH for short period of time is acceptable to employers. But long term its not viable. Its already harmed the work ethics in many countries during the covid lockdown. Apathy sets in. And employees disengage from colleagues and bosses.
Like that, may as well companies go overseas. No need to pay SG dollar wages. Who wins?

Well thanks for all the hard work, however I hope and feel more can be done with regards to education. What have been done for special needs education. We have more and more kids with special needs like autism. Obviously the resources are limited here. For families with special needs a lot of them would need financial aide as they would need someone round the clock to cater to the kids. The government should also relook at allowing our students more flexibility for homeschooling and education outside our system. Max is the youngest Olympic medalist for the event and perhaps the youngest world champion. That could not have happened if he is in Singapore school system, he is a home schooler. It is encouraging for the plans of new sports facilities, but what we need is more than that. There isn’t any career pathway for our athletes. Singapore is not lack of talented footballers, but they can’t pursue their dreams when they don’t even have enough to feed themselves.

One thing he never mention in his agenda which is the most critical aspects of it where his predecessors also did not was to highlight how many Singaporeans are hired comparing to foreign workers per country and put a dashboard on which nationality is on the chart especially in financial and IT sectors. This is very important to show how govt governs the ratio of foreign workers vs Singaporean. Today most citizens are concerned over the jobs and employment of Singaporean in the job market. It is a reflection of the PM to put these concerns as an agenda of nation issues to be mitigated or provocatively solve them as an impact to sustainability. There must be a CHANGE to this !!!! Speech is speech can be easily written but what is the most important is ACTION. CECA has caused a deep damaged to the society and its time you as the PM should MAKE A CHANGE.

    Mr Prime Minister Sir
Truth is the most important value we have. A great government is one that fights for everyone, like the one when LKY was our PM. Unlike the one we have now, where law enforcement officers protect criminals instead of protecting the people they serve.
You have a stage to speak what have been carefully thought out, but I don't have one to speak the truth. So I have to pass it off as a comment. Truth is, we're not one united people, nor is Singapore corruption free as long as there is a regime of moral failures running our racing clubs, law enforcement agencies, the legal system and even the ministries.
You can talk until the seas run dry for all we care, on matters that may benefit all Singaporeans, but if the atrocity that is prevailing in our society since 11 April 2018, a matter concerning organised crime and corruption of which the entire racing community has become victim is not being investigated, resolved, and justice served, then this National Day Rally and all those future ones are of no importance to us. Not one bit. Our disappointment knows no bounds.

Agreed. I spend a lot of time in Australia, which is deeply infected by woke culture and extremist gender diversity problems impacting daily lives of non woke people, schools, women's sports by men pretending to be female, shared toilet demands, etc etc. It's sickening and scary to us ladies. It must not be allowed to take root in our country.

The gen alpha & Z's are totally hopeless new bunch that already been acustomed to good life. To depend on these, Singapore will be gone! That's why you see many mainland chinese companies or nationals are in Singapore to progress her growth because these chinese are what the boomer generations mindset. Resillient and thriving with hunger. Thats where the growth is. Like it or not when the singaporeans can complain all you want about foreigners or their talent, you still be buying their luckin or chagee or tiger brokers. The same can be said for all other hungry personal. Singapore will just keep on importing.
