Very kind of you to help this gentleman and his family out when they're in a bind. I couldn't let those 5 kids go without water. Pump installed when I was 17. Wow. That lasted awhile. Thanks for the content.

I wish. I tried getting a local drilling company (near Mt. Pleasant, TN, name a lot like “Gantry”) to change my well pump and connect it to my (new) house about three years ago. They called back with the well data (depth, casing, flow, date) and I never heard back from them despite calling several times over the next six months. Watching your videos I’m confident I have all the right parts (pumps, clamps, fittings, pipe, etc) to put this all together myself in the next few weeks. Funny, but my neighbor also had them come over on the same day one of the owners came to my property, they agreed to have them drill a new well and, six months to the day they just showed up unannounced with a drilling rig, got down to 110 feet, 1.5 GPM and stopped there. Six months out the well was pumping mud, neighbor had to get a plumber to install a filter. Funnier still, that samecompany that never returned my calls is now posting ads all over the county looking for work. I hope they go bankrupt. God Bless YOU though for all you do here on YT and in the field.
@@buggsy5 Well drilling companies in that area are very territorial, like gangs. I’ve called others but get the same answer from each one. “Try “Sentry” company, we don’t work that far away.” Yeah, all of about 30 minutes from one of them, 45 for another. I tried calling a few of them and lied about my location and got similar answers. It’s like they have counties/boundaries, preexisting agreements not to step on each others’ turf. I doubt anyone will sue, but they’re the only game in town. I had a county building inspector tell me last year the TN legislature opassed a law making it illegal for homeowners to change out their own well pumps. I don’t know if this is true, I haven’t looked, but really? With a dysfunctional service industry like that what’s a farm/landowner to do?
I had a perfectly functioning 1/2hp well pump at 245ft. The well was put in in 1984. Last year, 2023, I noticed the metal top cover was cocked. When I took it off I noted a big slug inside the well liner about a foot down. When I tried to grab it it fell into the well. Oh well, I called a well company and they sent a gentleman out and we discussed the well and the water condition. Ultimately, he suggested blowing out the well and chlorinating it. When he said he would need to pull the pump to do it I asked him to just replace the 1/2hp pump with a new 3/4hp pump - I figured that it made no sense to pull a 39 year old pump without replacing it. Took most of the day and I am very happy with the results. It took several hours to blow the well to clear water and The refresh rate went to 8gpm. The bottom silt was blown out and I do not have to worry over having a 39 year old pump giving out on me unexpectantly. 😊😊
Good Job. You' re Father taught you well. The customer was glad to see you im sure and you treated him right. That's the best advertizing you can do by word of mouth.
The pump companies around here all hang their pumps on schedule 120 pvc. Pretty much have to call them to pull a pump. The pump at the ranch is on poly, me and the wife pulled it lots of times at 150 ft. When that pipe is full of water plus those Franklin pumps are heavy it is heavy to pull, I finally got to pulling it with the ATV. I like the looks of those little pumps you use. That is why I ordered the clamps from you. I figured if you are hanging the pump on poly with no safety rope you must use good clamps. Not disappointed, top quality marine grade Made in USA. Not as expensive as the chinese ones that Ace sells.

Of coarse it happens in February one of our coldest months here.

@H2o Mechanic, enjoyed the video! Those fire ants are definitely a pain, I was hit 3 times in the leg by one, lying in an awkward position on the ground once... Actually I think it's nice that the customer realized you weren't "on the other side of the country" and decided to call. You obviously know your craft and your videos are proof. It's already tough enough dealing with a variety of home/auto maintenance elements so if you need some "professional help", finding out that you can get that much needed help via a member of the YT community, is a huge plus because contacting a business which is SUPPOSED to provide "professional services", WE ALL KNOW, does NOT ALWAYS = "professional results"... Idk if you'll see this comment but if someone may... Two things I wondered, 1. Why isn't the well cap "sealed" (with silicone etc., where needed) to prevent any rain water from getting into the well through those openings? 2. Is that muddy appearance simply because the rain water has filled up and spilled into the well? My dad, may he R.I.P., had an ~80' well and he talked about the pump and a "foot valve" or something coming losse & stirring up the water making it muddy. Idk anything about "well systems". I just remember that was something he mentioned.
I think my brothers well pump was put in in 1977 and never had any trouble. 2017 he called and the guys came and pulled the pump and about 170 foot of 1 inch steel pipe, installed new pump black plastic pipe and was gone in about 4 hours. He sent me photos and the crazy thing was near the top was this 3 or 4 inch steel pipe about 3 feet long. They had a hard time getting it up past the pitiless adapter.
You Sir are a gentleman and a scholar. Watching from Australia, electrics are a bit different but its still excellent to learn. We use mainly tank water here, bore/water is to brackish to use.
That was a very old pump. Nice of you to come out on a Saturday and fix the problem in record time. Neighbor down the street was a 'well driller / pump ' installer. He had lots of galvanized straight sticks (2 inch) laying in a large pile. I use to buy some to install CB antenna on. (used but in good shape). Used the old style slow drilling machines. Take care and God Bless
Ive been watching your videos because our pump went out. First learning what NOT to do. Watched quite a few and felt confident in at least popping top and giving a look into well. First thing i saw were two missing nuts and a missing half moon piece. Were not going to have water for a while.😮 The wires, duct tape , and nylon cord wrapped haphazardly around the pipe confirmed to me that whoever did this mess was an idiot. But oh well. Your videos are fantastic. Too bad the previous owner of my house hadnt followed them. Gotta go get more buckets of water now haha

You’re a good man. Thanks for sharing this.
You ROCK Brother !
Great job !!! Your work ethic is amazing 👍👍🇨🇦✌️🇨🇦✌️🔧🔧
Your best video yet!!! Thanks so much for the content!
Good job
Great job! Customer should get a clean basement discount...LOL
Wow you did all that and I can even get a phone call back from local company's.
Ive been watching your videos because our pump went out.
First learning what NOT to do. Watched quite a few and felt confident in at least popping top and giving a look into well.
First thing i saw were two missing nuts and a missing half moon piece.
Were not going to have water for a while.😮
The wires, duct tape , and nylon cord wrapped haphazardly around the pipe confirmed to me that whoever did this mess was an idiot.
But oh well.
Your videos are fantastic.
Too bad the previous owner of my house hadnt followed them.
Gotta go get more buckets of water now haha
Never heard of Grundfous pumps.... growing up we always had a sta rite or Meyers pump
Another great video and great customer

13:43 😂😂😂 that was so comical with the camera drop and distant voice 😅

Excellent job!!!!
We use pitless adapters up north, leaving the pipe below frost level.
