Good reaction. 'Karate' was the lead single from the second album. It is about fighting adversity, when life knocks you down and everything seems too hard so you're hurt and crying, its about standing up and fighting on, helping each other through the hard times.
In the video the figures in white were the girls all along (as you saw) and they were conjuring up their own inner demons to fight against. They beat the first, the second knocked them down but they got up to eventually defeat themselves (look for the reflections in their eyes when the masks shattered and it was revealed as them).
They used karate to illustrate this as it is a Japanese martial art and reflects their culture - it also has no backward moves.
They did watch a lot of martial arts movies to get ideas for the choreo as they wanted it to look as authentic as possible. You were right - Moa catching the fly was a nod to Mr Miyagi in The Karate Kid. Moa let the fly go, Mr Miyagi killed his.
I believe this video won awards.
Next try their very first appearance in the UK at Sonisphere (Knebworth) in 2014. The song is 'Ijime, Dame, Zettai' live at Sonisphere 2014 (call it IDZ we will know what you mean. It means 'Bullying, No More, For Ever').

"Karate" premiered at Yokohama Arena on December 12, 2015. Directed by Daisuke Ninomiya, the music video for "Karate" was released on 18 March 2016.
Moa Metal explained that the lyrics are about never giving up and always moving forward, no matter what difficulties need to be endured. Furthermore, Yui Metal described how the dance moves were made to help express the message of the song, as most of the lyrics were in Japanese.
Moa Metal expressed that "Karate" is her favorite song in the 2nd album, explaining how "karate has a courtesy: "Start with a bow and end with a bow." This is something important we value in our lives, because we never forget courtesy and a feeling of gratitude wherever we go."
Su Metal described the white figures in the music video as representing their former selves, expressing the desire to break down barriers by fighting themselves to move forward. Moa Metal added that "karate is obviously a form of martial arts that originated from Japan, so it’s something that she’s very proud of that they are now representing this culture that came from Japan through their music, and it’s a way for more people outside of Japan also to learn what karate is all about."

I'd recommend 'BxMxC' for something heavy. 'Doki Doki Morning' for something cute it's their very first song and music video.

Well said. IT'S NOT THE WORDS - IT'S THE WHOLE PACKAGE. Great tunes. And a world class LEADER and vocalist. And she only gets better. And unlike most, she sounds so much better live than on recording imho.

I can concur. I was there, in the front row, dressed like an idiot. I briefly caught Moa’s eye and she smiled. Stole my soul right there.
