people say the Speed racer movie had too much colors and actors acted strange, but here the thing, the colors and acting was weird because they were trying to imitate the exact same experience of a japense anime!!!! this entire movie is a literal live action anime, all over the top acting and the abuse of colors is all there.
Not gonna lie this song warms my heart. It's just amazing to hear how all these different styles, languages, cultures, and voices from multiple generations collaborating to form this song. This is gonna sound cheesy. But it's just beautiful how it shows that no matter what barriers that may separate us, there will always be something that can bring us all together.
I would have sync'ed the voice clips, however, the voice clips in the song, are not from the movie, but from the original TV show. and since i decided to transition from the classic cartoon to the new footage, I couldnt sync the voice clips. thanks for the comment, and the idea. Used to watch this film every couple of weeks with sons 1&2 when it came out on DVD. Just introduced sons 3&4 to it 10 years on and they loved it. Never understood why it flopped, it's absolutely joyous. Seriously underrated.
It's defo a good movie but it's not for everyone. I can see why some people would say it's too childish to be enjoyable, but I'm basically an overgrown 5 year old so I love it xD

George W. Kush I was a teen when this came out, and this film still has among the most exciting racing sequences in any film, fiction or nonfiction, I’ve ever seen. In the theater during the final sprint to the finish after Cannonball Taylor is down and out and Royalton’s cheating has been exposed to the world had me squeezing my armrest tightly and holding my breath in excitement. Then I gave a huge exhale when Speed slowly takes off his helmet. I wouldn’t get this feeling again until RUSH (Ron Howard film about the F1 Jame Hunt/Niki Lauda rivalry) in 2013, five years later.

I've just gave this gem a watch about two days ago, this did have some potential for much newer fans of the series. It did have some of the coolest concepts in terms of racing, the way the T-180s just glide with each turn and spin with it's rear wheels turning on it's axis. Not to mention the plot and the characters, it was a story of a man who has to change the world for his family's future and to redeem his late brother's legacy. The overall designs of the vehicles did have so much variety and fits with they're driver's personality and skill. The Mach's 4-6 were my overall favourite in the film, The Mach 4 was the first car to combine both stunt and street axis in perfect harmony. The Mach 5 was designed to be faithful to her 1967 variant, while look as if she were to be seen in the real world, And finally the Mach 6, at first I wasn't fond of her at first. But after seeing the film for the first time, she grew on me. From her shocking crash during loyalton's plan to ruin Racer Motors to her final act to the finish line at the Grand Prix, I was rooting for her and speed to win, and the Mach 5 too. So if you want to film a story about racing, amazing visual story telling, a man and his car, or just to end your Speed racer month. Then give this movie a go, it'll be more then you think
"We'll be counting on you Speed, and the future of world peace will be resting on your shoulders." Good God! No pressure or anything! This may be coming from a guy who grew up watching Yu-Gi-Oh! but just how goddamn seriously did this cartoon take its motor sports?!
It's fantasy dude about advanced racers driving technologically impossible cars that could give the Batmobile and 007's car a run for their money. I mean Yu-Gi-Oh is about teens/adults having battles of biblical proportions where their weapons are wit and magic cards ... No disrespect, I grew up on the series too, but when you come down to it, that is the premise of Yu-Gi-Oh.
The cars aren't technology impossible, but they would take extensive designing and resources. Although we probably will never advance any car to be exactly like these, because the only person who could've created the special engines in the car originally is probably dead or never existed and the engines were never fully designed.

I watched the movie to completion sometime in October of this year. Caught it earlier on Nick years ago. I've seen this movie around 40 times since my first viewing. It's such an enjoyable experience.
Man... This movie its just like Spider Man 2 was for me. Its a movie that i loved back then when i was a kid, and when i came back to watch it, now with 19 years old with a grown up critic sense, i just love it even more. What a wonderfull feeling!!!
I think what ended up happening was that they did a shitton of research for the movie and ended up seeing all the futuristic sequels and reboots and that ended up influencing the movie I mean just look at the Mach 6 which was from Speed Racer the Next Generation I mean now that I think about just look at those races to the ones in the movie over the top high risk and dangerous and extremely bizarre
I absolutely love speed racer i remember watching this movie as a kid being so hyped and i give all the credit my of happy memories to my my pops for showing me his childhood and passing it down to me like a mantle descance en paz papa te quiro mucho pops.

I think it's pretty good! Great captions, along with the more intense scenes of the movie. I can appreciate it,because I grew up in the era, when it was originally being broadcasted. So, it would always be entertaining to watch in my opinion.
