BMW M57 and Mercedes OM606 are the most common engine swaps here in Europe as we can’t get the TD42 or any petrol engine as stock from factory. There are lots of these engines here so you can get them for a fairly price and many companies offer their conversion kit since few years ago. Nice rig btw
Nissan Patrols will make the bloke standing next to it looks cool. Land Cruisers on the other hand make the bloke looks like drunk, fat and ridden with debt old man.
Woulda liked to have seen more of the underneath, the long arms and other upgrades they fabbed under there, seats a seat, run XR6 in my 80, meh, but I wanted more the the meat and potatoes more of the chassis bracing, diff and how the extended long arms were done yadda yadda, plus that must be the shortest sound clip at the end in the history of TH-cam, geez Wayne! Anyways surprise it’s not the 80 this week, ya lead us to believe, I guess the Nissan community were feeling a bit left out again, she definitely pumps some soot, as much as a 1Ht-T does, I don’t know about the limiter though, if ya didn’t see it, did it happen, we got a snippet of sound but no rev counter clip! Did it happen🫣🤔

I've got a 500bhp om606 in a shorty qu... amazing engine easy install and no ecu or electrical parts to go wrong defo a swap that's going to become more popular as the engine's are easy to find
There is a lot more g wagon om606 in Australia then this bloke states. Steph at EuroAuto tech has built plenty. He’s even got a chopped om606 g wagon ute
Unfortunately I have the same setup, om606 will not work for truck in this weight, you will suffering high EGT and lagging boost. You not be able to drive over 110km/h . You need always above 3000 rpm or which is not sweet normal drivers. Those engines beak torque around 4000 rpm .can't work for off-road or heavy truck. You need to think about turbo setup.
@@mungbean84 I'm from vic, I own a td42...when in the high country i'd be lucky to see over 2500rpm in low or high range no matter the track. power isn't everything, torque is.
bit of a Spoiler but me and my dad were debating between a BT6 Cummins and a Mercedes OM606 engine for his Patrol that had a blown head gasket, great to see someone took advantage of such a beast of an engine, the thing it came out of happens to be pretty much one of the kings of offroad and versatility. I think the only thing that would have brought that Patrol into a whole league of its own is if it had the Portal axels from said vehicle also.
