Yeah, looks pretty good. Only a year later than expected . . . probably a little too big for me though - need to clear my stash a bit before I even consider getting one of these haha!
Looking forward to seeing it being built I did a B1 version from Airfix many years ago, the wings had a straight leading edge and was a little smaller, also the Handley Page Victor tanker by Matchbox and I have a partially started Airfix Vickers Valiant that I understand is discontinued and has a reputation for requiring a fair bit of filler! Enjoy the build
Yes it was known as a filler queen indeed.. Im i the middle of a few projects away from my bench but this will hopefully be made during livestreams in the evening
Another thing Parts G15 & G16 on the main undercarriage bogies aren't required when building an operational aircraft as they were only fitted to museum examples to stop the undercarriage from collapsing
The separate tail fin tip suggests there will be a second boxing for the later period of the Vulcan’s service covering the Falklands war. I can’t tell from your video whether this model has the Olympus 201 or 301 jet exhausts.
@@MOS6510Models there are good pictures of the differences here: www.thunder-and-lightnings.co.uk/vulcan/walkaround.php The 301s are considerably larger in diameter than the 201s Also look in this topic: www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235036986-trumpeter-new-tool-avro-vulcan/page/8/
@@MOS6510Models I got my kits from Airfix today; not bad service to the US. The marking options in the kit have the 300 series Olympus engines with the short exhaust nozzles. The longer, tapered 200 series nozzles are also in the kit. I’m willing to bet XH558 will be one of the marking options in the next boxing as this had the 200 series engines. In addition, I expect there will be an additional sprue to include the armament for the “Black Buck” mission over the Falklands. I saw that Airfix included intake FOD covers, which is nice for lazy people like me who don’t want to clean up the intake seams.
Thank you very much MOS6510! 🤩👍 Superb New kit & Great Review of the Classic Jet Bomber Avro Vulcan from Airfix 🏅Very useful vídeo, by the way this kit looks sharp & very challenging! 😁 Thanks again and best regards 👍
The Valiant has a "Blue Danube" included, which the RAF also called the 10,000lb 'High Explosive'........ it was very high explosive, about 30 kiloton yield I believe!
I worked on that aircraft. If you are able to make your own decals you only need to make a 44 sqn insignia for the tail ( old airfix vulcan decals had 44 sqn ) and the registration XM607 . If you want to show her after the raids the tally marks were black bomb over an Argie national flag. I have photo. This new tooling is twice the price of the original but looks well worth it. all the detail inside is going to be lost when the canopy is fitted so might be worth making the canopy removable.
If you had seen mine when I got it airfix had to send me both upper and lower wing/fuselage parts as mine was so warped the top parts had dips I could put my finger over it
Currently building mine, it’s not easy, the cockpit is such a pain to put together, don’t add the extra cone with weights, just add the weights or you’ll need to add filler
@@MOS6510Models update: don’t add the cone that goes inside the main cockpit case, it doesn’t provide enough space for the weight and also stops the two pieces from going together 👍, seems like smooth sailing as I’m starting the wings now
Looks a lovely retool compared to the original kit. Deffiniately on my shopping list, obviously when the 2nd batch is released, as I know Hornby have sold out through the preorders
@@MOS6510Models Compared with Eduard they are terrible, and the price is roughly the same ( for their basic kits, without the photo etch & resin parts )

Just started building this new tooling kit. There is so much internal structure and everything fits so nicely it's extremely satisfying to work on.
i agree

My stash is pretty full, but I still think I'll get one
yes and we have seen your stash, almost as bad as mine lol
Brilliant looking kit. I do like the way the instructions are laid out, created by a modeller with the modeller in mind
Many thanks!
Brilliant kit Les, very detailed ,and the size is really nice ,I always feel the temptation to build kits again
You should!

Received my kit yesterday, very pleased with the way the kit has been designed.
Enjoy it
If only I had the space to display one but love the review - definitely helps a buyer choose the right kit
Yeah... ill be building it for a display in the local library

i never knew that.. thanks for letting us know
Have been studying the sprues and there are un referenced parts so both 201 & 301 engines can be modelled
Really enjoyed this premiere! Really nice MOS 👍
Thanks a ton! Im always thankful you pop in matey
Wow separate bags
At 59.99 i was expecting it lol :) I get the impression Airfix are listening to the Community

Almost half meter wide. It will take a lot of clear resin to sink that in a diorama base with sharks and SPECTRE scuba team.
haha.. its a tad wide this kit :)
Where are the rivets???
I think you have to add them yourself..
it will look awesome in white anti-flash scheme
i think so too
Am loving it so far
Thank you :D

I build the xh558 gift set edition when that was out. The tooling was good for a like ten year old kit although it’s nothing compared to this model
its a filler queen that original vulcan but a fun build too
I hope there will be a build video soon
probably live stream every night over a month :)
Excellent video, good looking kit 👌
Thanks 👍
I want this model kit for myself nice looking jet.
i agree.. worth buying it :)
Blue Steel rocket powered nuclear missile..no nuclear bomb tho'?? i think the Valiant kit had one from memory
Thank you for the info.. i got a tad confused

might have to get me that one. i hope they release the decals for operation "black buck" the only time a vulcan was used in anger!
ill have to look that operation up :)

I heard they were done in two batches.. it shouldnt be too long.. Jadlam have them apparently
Airfix, as it seems, can do no wrong. I thought that the 1983/84 kit was good. This is much better...
Yep i think this could become their flagship model
👍Thank You🖖
Thank you too!
awesome video new friend here love building model planes myself
Welcome aboard!
wow,nice kit
It sure is!
That is definitely the blue steel stand off missile
appreciate you confirming that.. i was unsure :)
Disappointed there aren't black buck markings
Im sure they will release them soon :)
I WISH I HAD THE PATIENTS TO DO ONE OF THESE OR A CAR MODEL
just buy a starter kit and away you go :)
I would rather have a 1:32 Defiant
Thats a great shout
Airfix are great - if you like filling in sink marks.
they arent that bad... :)
ill send you a mistercraft kit :)

.. Airfix just don't get the credit they merit for re-tooling subjects they've already kitted!

It's about time because the old Vulcan tooling was garbage(1 of the worst kits I've ever built). It's airfix so I'm not holding much hope
I hope you'll be surprised how the designers have created a model for the modeller in mind....
Maybe you should try Revell models. They’re easier for newcomers to modelling if somewhat less realistic.
