He’s a lovely guy. Really. His playing is immaculate and the world is better place with him in it.

This video is a great example of Martins knowledge, insight and generosity with it. The audio quality is outstanding, capturing the sonic differences ibetween the guitars, also how his touch affects the sound.

Beautiful sounds and a fascinating interview; more than ever and particularly, in the times that we're living through, people like Martin, the music he's making and the craft of the luthiers truly make life worth living!

I once went to one of Martin’s weekend ‘workshop’ events in Sheffield UK and learnt more in the first 30 minutes than I’d learnt in the previous 30 years … I’m still learning.

I met Martin in the 70s when he played at our folk club in Edmonton Alberta. I knew then I was in the presence of a great man.

I love watching this video...watch it quite a bit to hear a great guitar. I think even the uncoated Daddario's are smoother then other uncoated brands. I like the XS medium sets but also use the EJ14's ....another one of my guitar's have the XS lights with a 13 and 17 that I add. I keep a set of EJ14's in my case for spares which I never use cause they don't break. (I like this EJ14 bluegrass set on my 000...I tune it down a 1/2 step) I do like Elixir's but the "G" strings are subpar (and they know it!). They break more often. The Daddario's have a D string that's about.085mm....Elixir has a .089......it makes a difference. I like the .085mm.....I like a compromise between a dark and articulate guitar....the older I get the less tolerant I am of the icy treble. I love Michael Watt's Casimi guitar....rich and a little darker then most. I would love to see Martin play one

Fantastic videos. The Turnstone is my favourite. Incredible guitars. I’ve been in love since I heard Michael Watts play them a few years ago.

I really like the sound of Rosie's guitar. It has a warmer, richer sound than many of the others and partly made from native timbers. Amazingly good guitar.

Martin Simpson is one of the very premium guitarists.🏆

Martin is a wonderful musician. He could make a cheap plank of a guitar sing. It’s all in his hands more than the guitar.

Aside from being a genius guitar player, Martin has wonderful taste in guitars. I wish D'Addario would make a Martin Simpson signature string set. I like the EJ24's, but I'd like it better if they put together the same set in the XS version.

When Martin did the harmonics on the Martin, it sounded like Echo in Delphi Valley. I had to hear that song after that intro. Then back to this great video.

That Martin 45 (?) sounds amazing. Not as brittle as his other modern guitars in part 1.

Two years ago I was at a point where I owned most of the big name guitars, but not a Martin. They came out with the SC13e, made in Mexico, a fact that I found out later. It's been an extreme disappointment, to be kind. So much for trusting a brand. On the other hand, I bought a Firefly acoustic/electric for $190!. Magnificent! If you can get your hands on one, I'd be interested to know your thoughts. Shalom/gw

Is the F for F-Hole design and the
C for Circular-Hole design? I know that it is of very little significance. I was just wondering. Thanks.

It seems to me, that players like Martin approach the instrument completely differently to the vast majority of guitarists. Unusual folky tunings necessitate learning actual tunes and particular fingering patterns, rather than in conventional tuning used by the improvisers of jazz or rock, or the prescribed stylings of classical.
Everything he plays sounds absolutely beautiful, but always seems to be in one key.
