I like the Yanigasawa better, it has a slightly warmer, fuller sound and the Selmer sounds a bit too bright for me and I liked the Dukoff mouthpiece more than the Theo Wanne.

Selmer Alto is silver plated, and Yanagisawa is made of lacquered brass. They will sound very differently. These are the ABCs of the saxophone sound: 1/ Silver plated sax + metal high-baffle mouthpiece = VERY bright and punchy sound. 2/ Silver plated sax + EBONITE high-baffle mouthpiece = bright and round sound. 3/ Lacquered brass sax + metal high-baffle mouthpiece = bright and round sound. 4/ Lacquered brass sax + EBONITE high-baffle mouthpiece = open sound. When Selmer was played with a that ebonite mouthpiece, the sound was very similar to Yanagisawa's with a metal mouthpiece.
Very good comparison! Which microphones did you use for this video? It seems to pick more keys noise than the C519 and the AT350 you compared in other video.
I guess you used the Sennheiser 908. I saw you used several different clip on microphones on your videos, which is the one picking less keys noise? Thank you very much in advance.

When playing metal high-baffle mouthpieces on a silver plated saxophone, the result is extremely high brightness and punchiness of the sound. But the sound was very similar to Yanagisawa's when the ebonite mouthpiece was put on a silver Selmer. (at 3:03 min)
The selmer sounds way thinner so I'm really puzzled by your comment. We all hear differently and like different qualities but the Yani sounds so much fuller through the whole range of the horn.

I prefer the Yani. Warmer sound, and timbre is more consistent through the full range of the horn.

Wow! The Yanagisawa sounded better than the selmer. I have the 901 but may upgrade to a newer pro model

I like the Yanagisawa more powerfull and beautiful sou sound.
The Yani was easily warmer, more responsive, better projection and seemed to have just a bit more resistance adding more character to your sound.

Not a fair comparison. A Silver Selmer vs a brass Yani. Any brass horn is going to sound darker than a silver horn.

We all have different taste but to me the Yani has a much fuller sound. To me it's way superior on these two horns. Not even that close.
