Yes, the Mark VII for me! Both sound good but I am partial to the warmer sound. ( That's the way I like my Jazz sound! Grover's sound was warm. But he played Couf.
To my ear, the Mark VII seems to be less cutting and to have less bite. It doesn't seem so sharp, and is smooth, but I think they both fit the music very nicely!
SA80 is brighter, MKVII richer but seems to retain the flow and should be a little harder to play... Anyway both sounds are good and depends of what kind of sound you are looking for (depends of what things you want to tell with your sax, and with both you can tell greats stories) In addition, a good instrument is pleasant but here what we listen is 15% due to the sax and 75% due to your technics and years to reach that skill... YOUR proper sound is here no matter what sax you are playing. And by the way, your sound is good mate, thank you for this video.
Subtle difference - the VII sounds richer, no doubt due to the inevitable cost cutting measures in the last few decades. Your daughter (?) seems to have developed a certain indifference - is she learning to play?
I had mark 7 original lacker no leak but i don't like them at all I'm selling them to get sa80 s2 or yanagisawa wo model I think they not resents easily taking too much air to produce sound hard to control etc.. anyone want swap msg me thanks
