I'd take this bike over any modern 1000 superbike!

Boy does this bring back memories. Especially the sound.. I had a Z1R, silver. Can't believe how stupid I was to sell it. Times change. Time for a KZ1000!

I’m with you. I had a 78 Z1R and I rebuilt it like new and sold it to a museum I really regret it. I love my 2023 Z900RS but miss my 1000 and 76 900

@@peterewski -- I remember... We used to call 'em the dreaded "Kawie nine". That's when I had a 650 and the lowered nines with the cafe bars could walk away from me.. Good times.. ran 12.9 on the stock 650 jetted with the Kerker at Brotherhood raceway..

I'm no bike expert by any means, but have seen quite a few nice KZ's in my lifetime, and this is the nicest that I have ever seen. Gorgeous candy apple red. It would be an honor and privilege to own and ride this bike.

I owned a 1977 purchased new from Gould’s Honda in Lynn, MA. It was a very good all a-rounder, very capable in its day. Sold it for a new 1979 CBX 1000, it those days everything had to go to move up to the next bike. My fondest memories, I recall a redline 1st to second shift put an intense shimmy through bike, a bit of front end lift off and the feeling that the rear wheel wanted to swing about and kiss the front wheel. Uncertain the frame was up to the HP. Secondly I got a rear tire flat in Salem MA and rode it home approximately 20 miles doing some nasty and constant slow speed power sliding gymnastics on the right side of the home bound back roads. My motocross experience came in handy that day, I’m certain those stacking up behind the slow slithering KZ were not impressed. No AAA or cell phones back then it was a ride or abandon situation, so, of course I rode. No damage to the bike but I did change the oil and plugs when I got home as my way of apologizing to my baby. The bike was doubtless indestructible... Caio senior!!

The tires were also "tiny" back then...

My 1st big street bike was a 78 KZ650C2 .. I was 14 years old and hooked on Kawasaki.. I regret selling it.. one day I'll find a restorable unit and have one again.. since thing I've had 40+ bikes.. little of everything.. Hondas and Kawasaki's mostly..

My first real bike (after the Yam. 80 my father got me for my first, cheap transportation) was a '72' H2, next after was a Z-1 900 and then three 78 Z1Rs.
I still have some of the H2 parts, one Z1R (set up as a drag bike) and I also have a ZRX12R Turbo (235-Hp, 160-LbFt at 14 PSI on stock engine) = ❤ Kawasaki

    It sounds electric...
    Whispering away.
Which is the high speed - alternator/stator sound (I can hear with a very very very quiet exhaust system) making electric for indicators & lights etc blah blah with battery used for sensor Efi ignition/s.
Stator/Alternators make use AC power for LIGHT indicators.
I'm 1000000% sure a new lithium battery 🔋 hidden in the tank shape/s and existing battery 🔋 new lithium, so rigged up to the AC alternator making power = AC now using power (Lights/electrics run on battery) microcontroller invertor.
To take AC used main engine Alternators now an AC axial flux margin match RPM to turn AC power needed for 10kwh + invertors supply AC and DC power supply from the battery.
Basically AC axial flux as alternator RPM can be rigged up to battery as aforesaid.
Switching existing parts add-on battery 🔋 in tank/existing battery to invertor supplied all AC and or DC electric needed.

That sound is actually the primary gears (crank to clutch drive gears)...
