I bought those same tires for my commuter. Drove it almost exclusively on gravel for years, and was really impressed with how well the treads held up relative to the old tires that got absolutely shredded by gravel.
I ran BFG AT's since teh late 80's No complaints I cjhanged to Cooper AT3 about 5 years ago, the only difference and the reason I changed is the 60,000 mile waranty and were cheaper when I bought them. I think the BFG's will live forever!
I believe the K02 DT's became the K03's. There was a tread design change that decreased road noise and increased durability. Ironically, regardless of how few miles you have on them, when they hit five years old there are tire shops that won't rotate, rebalance, or service them at all. It's a scam intended to force you to buy new tires when you really don't need them. I was debating the 235/85's vs the 265/75's on my '97 C3500 SRW, and your vids really helped me out. Thanks.

I got 72k out of my last K02s with decent tread left with a good bit of it being road miles. You have to rotate them a lot. I found they are tough durable tires, but hard, heavy, and stiff. Never had a flat, had nails pulled out that had bent over in the rubber, but didn't pierce the tire.
I'm going on close to 50,000 miles on my set and I got my first flat last month due to a screw or bolt after 8 years of having them I still love them though.
I bought KO2 for my 2023 4Runner Ltd to travel from Florida to Canada in March 2023 and I've put about 10K miles on them. I went to Blowing Rock, NC mid-January 2024 and experienced awesome snow and ice traction with these tires. The biggest downfall of them is the 2-3 mpg loss over my 245/60R20 street tires. Mainly due to the tread pattern and the KO2 are mounted on TRD Pro wheels, so the tires are 265/70R17. Well worth the peace of mind though.
Your Suburban reminds me of mine. I have a white ‘98 with blue inside. Same basic look as yours since we both like to keep them fairly basic. I love your channel and enjoy following your projects and insights on your Suburban. Not used to seeing that much snow on the ground in Tennessee. I love my B.F. Goodrich tires too. 🧨
I've had the original bfgoorich kos on my old truck and they were awesome and lasted close to 70,000 miles fantastica ll around tire. fast forward to around summer of 2016 I bought a jeep wrangler and I had michelin tires on there and around the fall of that same year those tires were so dry rotted I thought they were going to shatter like glass so I bought a set of bfg all terrain ko2s and I've never been happier and after around 45 to 50,000 miles they still look brand new. a few years ago I was at my brother's cabin and it had snowed at least 2 inches or more and his driveway is a pretty steep incline and without 4wheel drive you would not make it up it at all and these tires handled it like it was nothing. If you have a truck or suv or jeep with 4wheel drive I would totally get these tires. I live in Minnesota and in previous winters when we had lots of snow my jeep was an absolute tank with these tires. I bought the set of bfg all terrains ko2s in 2016 and as of 2024 8 years and going strong.
Hated these tires on my 99 K1500 suburban. Living in MN I think we get much harder packed snow on our roads, especially residential and they just didn't bite at all. Switched to Goodyear Duratracs and haven't looked back. Have had Duratracs on 2 suburbans and 2 pickups.
I’ve ran ko2’s a little over a decade I punctured one of my E rated ko2’s on a trail today. A first so I started a search for new stuff…. Ko2’s are still on the menu
They where my go to for 20years. But now I’m expiring different brands just to see. I’ve got Firestone mt2 right now. And I did a lot of highway driving and off Roading in the last two years but I think they wear out pretty quickly. I’m probably at 50% now but they still grab really good.
@@1RoadGarage not sure I almost went to try the Patagonia that Matt’s off-road recovery swears by. See how they deal with-45 degrees Celsius lol. I haven’t even aired down these tires. I run about 50 psi because I have a toolbox and a tidy tank full of fuel in my box. It’s my work truck.
This truck? The pavement princess stored indoors? Nah fam. ~1/5 of their warranted life but more likely 1/6-1/8 of their serviceable life is a joke. Considering the “average” car gets about 11-14k miles a year.
My understanding is the "3 peak snowflake" version were always 50k mile warranty. That's pretty much standard for the competition as well. I do know select sizes are NOT available in "3 peak rating" how that affects wear, I don't know. Think it's more to combat chunking/tearing from rock crawling/gravel use....
I've haven't heard anything bad about the KO2's except that they're lacking for deep mud performance, ironically probably because 'snow tires' are designed to gum up cuz snow on snow is good traction... no so much for mud. But yea, other than that... I considered getting a set but ultimately went with general grabber ATx because they're cheaper, designed nearly the same and my first set of AT2 (the predecessor of the atx, same tire essentially) we amazing and I got 45k miles on the first set with 40% tread left. Highly recommend.
Absolutely not- that would be the "Gov Bomb." He already did a video about having a Detroit Locker installed which is WAY better. Personally, ai think a Detroit Tru-Trac would have been better for his build seeing as though he is running under a 33" tire. I took that POS Govlock out of my wife's 13' Yukon and put in a Tru-Trac... words can't describe how much better it is. I have a Detroit in my lifted one tonned 82' Suburban and for "experienced" drivers it can't be beat off road...
Hated mine got to be noisy and rough riding at highway speed. The didn’t have a nice tread contact patch they wore extremely uneven compared to the firestones I have now.
I ordered the "Dextero All Terrain DAT1 LT265/75R16E". They're E load rated 10 ply tires at Walmart for about $120 each and there's no noise inside cab, great tread even on sidewall, and 50,000 mile warranty. Their parent company Giti has been in the top 10 tire manufacturers in the world the past 2yrs.
I put mine on a 4WD 97 F-150. You can have them delivered to Walmart and mounted on rims and balanced but they will only install them on the vehicle if it's the same tire size as the stock vehicle so I had to put them on myself or get another shop to installon vehicle. Safety regulations 🙄
