    I believe people think shotguns are OP just because of the fact that they are really used to games where shotguns are unrealistic and they're literally extremely close range weapons, which is incorrect.
    They mostly call them "OP" when they get killed by a shotgun user, but they don't go and try them by theirselves to see that it actually requires skill to land that first shot and not die, specially on intense close quarters firefights with multiple enemies. Every weapon can be OP if the player is skilled enough.
    In my opinion, shotguns are fine. If they're going to do something, it should be tweaking the costs of the attachments and/or decrease just a little the hitscan range (not the actual range) , but not nerf the weapon itself.

      I just said it's incorrect that people think shotguns are extremely close range weapons because of games like Battlefield or CoD.
      You clearly have a lack of reading comprehension, lol.

    not sure they've the same penetration value, since your camparison is based on concrete wall, on of the best "cover" ingame, you should maybe try against standard house walls (like inside), and see if they can penetrate multiple layers of walls. Anyway, great review:)

      additionally I think it would be best if the weapon reviews standardized one part on the same map where they do the penetration tests

      Still the only weakness of shotguns is no penetration on walls, thats why sometimes you see rambo style players running around with pkm/m249

    Devs said that hitscan becomes projectile after 0,1 second, so every caliber has its own 'effective' hitscan range. For example 9mm with 380m/s becomes projectile only after 38 meters (380x0,1) and snipers with 7,62x51 rounds have hitscan range around 90 meters

    Slugs are just lead blobs, not supposed to penetrate but to dish out as much energy on impact as possible

    the range that hitscan becomes projectile depends on the bullet velocity of the firearm.

    Hitscan is up to 0.1 seconds. Therefore the hitscan range depends on the bullet velocity. For a shotgun it's therefore around 30-40m not 150

    Thanks for the review! Really helpful! Wish the slug would have more penetration tho. Hope to see improvements to the penetrations in the future.

    Really good video, shotguns are my favorite weapon right now. For the Toz review it’d be nice if you tested exactly how far away someone has to be for a one shot kill with each type of round

    I have found buckshots to be so effective that I've barely experimented with slugs, and haven't even touched flechette. Most load outs I do iron sights w/buckshot, but others I do 2x scope w/buckshot. I really love the buckshot 😁

    I’ve got so many hit markers with the slugs, also I use a scope on the shotgun and the bullet drop pass 100 meters is crazy

    I don't think it's quite hit scan up to 150 meters. It still seems like the bullet takes time to get where it is going, but just doesn't have drop.

    That's not free aim you're talking about buddy, that's just the sway. Free aim is when your weapon isn't fixed on your screen, but is moving freely, which is when u hip fire.

    I thought the devs said about that hitscan/projectile debate that it's not meters, it's time. So if the round travels more than 0.1 sec in the air then the servers changesfrom hitscan to start calculate the projectile path etc.

    Andrea, I have asuggestion, can you try to solve the mystery of faster pumping with a foregrip on the shotguns? Some swear that it is faster, but many, including me don't see any differerence.

    I feel like shotguns are extremely good in this game if you can land your shots because they often feel better at killing than the intermediate callibre rifles, shot for shot. I feel like in Sandstorm they upped the survivability of the characters, making them have more health in pretty much all scenarios. I really like NWI, but the way they are handling some things upsets me. They increase the recoil a ridiculous amount to add a sense of realism (two comments on this, firstly the recoil on the guns is now more extreme than the guns in real life according to many accounts from people who have shot these guns/semi auto versions of these guns in real life, and secondly ik that the community was very up in arms about the recoil deal compared with source, but them changing the recoil wasn't what stopped those complaints, them releasing the video comparing the source recoils to sandstorm recoils was what fixed the problems). Then they try to make the game less realistic and more appealing to the casual player base by decreasing weapon damage on many of the guns. Gone are the days of me going sniping with an m16 and getting glorious kills with just one shot to the body at range. In source I would almost always go semi-auto on all of my guns (similar to many soldiers in real life), however in Sandstorm I will almost exclusively use full auto (this is not made better by the fact that I do not run Sandstorm super well, 30 fps at absolute best with fairly often stuttering, which seems to make hit reg less reliable). Shotguns do not seem to have been affected by this change, making them somewhat better in many situations. My hope is that NWI will switch back to roughly the Source damage model.
