I just ordered one off of eBay and it came in the mail a couple of days ago but I seem to be having a similar problem. Thanks for the video. I'm gonna have to take a look at mine as well. I'm not just gonna own an Xbox that won't work. I'll try to fix it and if I can't, well, that's that.
Did I do that in the video? It's been a while. I generally clean things when I take them completely apart like that. It does nothing to improve performance, but it makes things look nice. If a made a comment to the effect of "I'm surprised how often things start working again after I take them apart, clean them and put them back together", the cleaning probably doesn't do much unless you are cleaning contacts. Cleaning pins or edge connectors can definitely improve things. The process of disassembling and reassembling stuff can re-seat connectors, remove debris that could be causing a short, and even sometimes allow a crack in a pcb or solder joint to make solid contact. You should definitely be looking for cracks, cold or broken solder joints, bad capacitors, and any sign that something is getting too hot.

Sorry, wish I was more familiar with the system. This was the first one I had ever opened up, and I just happened to luck into the fix on my first try.
The reason the fuse was blown was because the previous owner did not use a Microsoft-approved AC adapter replacement. There was an official recall of the original AC adapters where everybody got sent new adapters to prevent exactly this.
Super old video now but just got a v1.0 Xbox and it gets power still but had noticed play in the connectors while I had it open and found one of the joints was already loose and just needed resoldered. Crazy that the connector isn’t anchored with screws or rivets to the board or case. All force gets applied to the solder joints! Newer models appear to have rivets holding it to the board I believe but not the “original” original Xboxes.
I thought that was strange too. In most applications like this there is some sort of physical connection other than the solder. Glad to hear you were able to fix yours.
Mines been sitting for a year almost since getting my new 4K tv which lacks component ports. Recently got a hyperkin HDMI adapter to try to use, but I have no idea if it works since my console won't turn on. Been working great since I got it used and softmodded it for ages! I'm really wondering now that if capacitors ended up leaking acid.
I tried that on mine. Still no go. One thing I have noticed is that when I press the power button, I hear a slight noise (like the DVD drive or hard drive trying to start and then stopping). Power light doesn't come on at all. So it's as if it's trying to start but it can't. Thoughts?
@@edt1138 I just wish I knew which caps to focus on. I see one guy replaced five identical? caps near the main power connector to the motherboard (6.3 volt 3300 uF each). Do you think I should start with those?
IT"S ALIVE... Having similar issues with my modded DuoX console, thinking it's something simple like this or possibly corroded traces. I'm hoping it's this though because this seems relatively easy to fix. Doing the bypass wires to trace points on the reverse side of the board looks very time consuming and precise, precision which is beyond my soldering abilities.
+EnemyHero182 It's amazing how many things can be relatively easy to fix once you crack them open and have a poke around. Broken solder joints are a common problem for any jack that has been soldered directly to the board and has no other physical connection. I have had this problem numerous times with controller ports for various console, and on several usb charging ports for my kid's tablets. I hope yours is an easy fix. Good luck.
Hi. I have a similar Xbox brought from the USA with some old NTSC games. I tried to run it, but accidentally, I fried its power supply system. I discovered it it is designed to accept AC 110 volt. In my country, we only use AC 220 volt power. I don't know how to fix this problem, and I am not sure if my Xbox will ever work again 😢. Any advice, please 😊
It really depends on how badly it was damaged. You might be able to replace the power supply board, but if you aren't comfortable repairing your own electronics it could be quite expensive to have it repaired. It is also possible that the damage caused by applying the incorrect voltage has affected other components.
Bought a Xbox today at goodwill for kicks for 2 bucks. It powers on but nothing pops up on screen and disc tray won't open up unless manually. I wanna open it up and clean it out. Never done anything like this before so it will be a fun educating experience.
Long shot but thought I would reach out. I have an Original Xbox that was modded with an xecuter 2 chip. I bought it that way. Xbox shows no power, does not turn on but the xecuter chip on the inside lights up blue, so power is running through it. My original thought would be a bad power source but thought I would post this here to maybe get some feedback and what other issues it might be. Thanks
I'm sorry, it is hard to diagnose something like that in a comment section. I'm also not familiar with that chip, and have no idea where it draws power from. It could be the power supply, the power button, a cable, some component on the motherboard, hard to say.
The whole hard drive/ cd rom assembly come out in one piece. You got lucky with that burned up solder connect. I have been trouble shooting mine for an hour and nothing. Think it's the solenoid.
@@SirRorschachJack yes. if u have a version 1.0-1.5, there is a cap on it that keeps time while the console is unplugged. they go bad and leak a corrosive substance on the board that will eventually ruin them. the cap needs to be removed and the area around it needs to be cleaned. 1.6 and 1.6b don't have this problem.
Hey there I need a little help I took my original xbox apart to clean it out but the controllers aren't working. its the old board like yours with the fan on it and the separate board for the controllers. I have the yellow led loom connected to motherboard and the 2 white plugs plugged to the separate board what have I missed?
Hi my 1.6 xbox quickly turn on then it turns off then I get a red an green ring with no display. It was working until I put on new thermal paste on the cpu an the gpu. Any ideas?
If it is a bad hard drive, there isn't much to do but replace it. It is a simple IDE drive that you can find pretty cheap, but I remember somebody telling me that they bough an original off of ebay that had everything pre-loaded. I'm not sure, but it might be worth checking out.
I would practice on something you don't care about first, but if you clean all of the surfaces and use flux this particular fix was pretty easy. The hardest part was taking everything apart and putting it back together again.
I bought an xbox earlier this year and it worked perfectly for the first few months, the most use it's gotten in the past couple months was turning it on once a month or two ago, and now it refuses to turn on is it a power cable issue or an issue with the console itself?
+sevenkills It could actually be a number of different things, but from what I can tell it is usually either a problem with the power supply board or the pcb that the power button is mounted on.
Great Job! I looked up your video because one of my older boxes (2001) is in mint shape but as soon as u plug it in the power comes on. It's like the power always stays on! If i push the eject button it just starts the process all over, so kinda hard to get the disc in and out with this problem. I have cleaned everything plus removed clock cap. The back of the power supply is loose just like yours! That makes me think if i take it out this weekend will it have that same burnt area like yours? For a 2001 it runs smooth, no sticky tray! It looks exactly like yours with the fan over the GPU. Has that padding around the HD...man I hope this will fix it!
broken original xbox drives can be replaced with 360 drives, ive done it 3 times with 2 lite on drives and a hitachi, what you need is a sata to ide adapter( the cheap simple kind). simply remove the 360 plastic bits and fit the drive into the tray, add the adapter and put it back together if it bothers you about the dvd tray its easy to mod it. the best bit is the 360 liteon drives are quieter and read faster, of course it wont read 360 disks but they read og xbox disks fine, this works on unmodded boxes i'm told though the 3 i did were modded 2 hard 1 soft, i also used the sata adapter on the hd so i could use sata disks, that might not work on the unmodded boxes though i dont know if the sata hd drives can be locked by the xbox, this is still required on soft and unmodded boxes, but an hitachi 360 dvd drive worked in a soft modded 1.6 i had. there is no key on og xbox drives, and they are easier to play with,

Hey, I have a question I rescued a Xbox Original, it works but whenever I turn it on, the dvd drive opens by itself... When I put it back on, it opens again even with a disk on... Do you know why is that caused by and how to fix it?

Been having an issue with my xbox, I was playing yesterday on it and it was running just fine, tried playing again and the light is blinking an orange color, already ruled out the audio/visual cable as the problem, still blinking orange without the cable in it, what is wrong with it, I am stumped
Any idea why my power cord slips out with a slight blow or touch? It’s not a snug fit at all so I can’t play my Xbox without the power cord slipping out at random.
I have an issue with one that is at least 17 years old and had worked perfectly maybe 1-2 years ago but now the power button doesn't work and when you press the eject/insert disc tray button it turns off when the tray completely goes into the Xbox but if you press it when the tray is closed it opens up like any other tray and everything else works perfectly and suggestions on what might be happening?
Softmod!!! Did it a bunch of times and besides the obvious gain in functionality it is also a very rewarding way of spenting some free time. Just be shure to have a old IDE-capable pc next to the running x-box in order to hot-plug it and go around the protection.

i had my XBOX in my closet for like 4 years because when i open the tray sometimes it turns off, sometimes i turned on on the same tray button because the power button doesn´t work. And now i'm playing and suddenly turn off. any help on what might be the problem?
How would this type of thing happen would it be a power surge. Haven't opened mine up but it was in a power surge and couldn't turn on after that it's probably been maybe 8 years
My guess would be repeated removal and replacement of the power cord. The solder cracked or came loose enough that it allowed an arc. The jack is only connected to the board with those two solder joints, so if the original solder joints were bad, or if the cord was handled roughly enough they could fail over time.
I tried turning my xbox on recently and it lights up but then goes off. I played it maybe 4 months ago so I'm not sure what happened. The prongs where the power plug plugs in look a little dirty/corroded so maybe that's the problem? Problem is I don't have a brush that small to clean it. Anyone else have a similar problem?
ya I can't seem to turn mine on at all either, was thinking of buying one off eBay but I want to try to fix mine first. I think mine had that similar problem to yours except mine won't turn on no more. Haven't tried it in a year, but will see about trying to fix this up this month because I miss it so much
My Xbox was messed up where it would turn on by itself, but I tried to ignore that then today it turned off randomly and won't seem to work, it Will turn on for a second but shortly turns off.
My original Xbox won't turn on all of a sudden. I swapped the power supply and still the same so it has to be the motherboard. Unfortunately none of the capacitors are mushroomed so I need to invest in one of those Blue ESR meters.
My original xbox won't light up or show anything on the screen but it still runs. I can hear that it's on but I don't know what the problem could be. Please help thanks.
It just happened to me today. I first got the original Xbox from ebay back in July 2016 due to the fact my original Xbox that I got for Christmas 2004 won't power on anymore. It works great until October 22nd, I turned it on and it quickly turned off, then turn it on again and it still works (happened the same the following day). On Monday, I turned on twice, it quickly turned off twice. Turned it on the third time, it works. After 2 days, I press the power button, it won't turn on (no light, no screen, but I can hear the boost up inside when I hold the button).
Depends on how thorough you want to be. I completely disassembled it and used a toothbrush and air compressor to clean dust off of all electrical components. I hand washed all non-electrical plastic and metal components.
Anyone here know how to fix the power board of xbox original. Same power board on the video but idk i tested all of the capacitor and stuff. But there is no power output even in 12v and other lines. Thanks in advance.
Mine turns on fine right but gets stuck at the boot up screen and freezes, is this the same issue? Or a different one? Any response would be appreciated:)
I recently got brand new power and A/V cables to try out this original Xbox that I've have for about 2 years or so now. I tried turning it on, however the eject button flashes red, and the tray will sometimes open / close. After that, it will shut down. I also noticed that the power button doesn't work. Any help here?
+Stephen Sodergren Sorry, I missed this question. If yours has the same issue, it would probably be much cheaper to pick up a replacement power supply PCB off of ebay than to ship the whole thing to me.
I sent two motherboards out. one got a TSOP and one got a Aladdin XT put in it. When I got them back, and hooked them up, they turn on and off three times and there's no video. The soldering job looks amazing. They worked when I sent them out & he says they worked before he sent them back.
Tobey Peters If we assume the person who performed the mods is telling the truth about the machines having worked before he sent them out, and that nothing you have done since recieving them has caused damage, then it stands to reason that they were likely damaged during shipping. If we follow that line of reasoning, and there was no visible shipping damage, we must assume that something was shaken loose. Additionally, the general concensus on this issue seems to be that it is usually indicative of a bad solder joint, or other loose connection. My suggestion, if you see nothing obvious, is to do a complete tear down and reassemble. After tearing it down check all solder connections near the areas he worked in to make sure he didn't accidentally overheat another connection to the point of failure while he was working. If no bad solder joints are found, reassemble the system and make sure that all connections are solid. Old solder joints can sometimes be difficult to desolder, and people generally seem to think more heat and time is required to loosen them when the real issue is that they don't have a large enough tip. Applying high heat for a long period of time to a stubborn joint can sometimes loosen less stubborn nearby solder. It could have worked fine when he tested it, but the newly weakened solder joints broke during shipping. Also, high heat and longer exposure to it could have damaged nearby components in some way. None of this is for certain, but we can only use the information we currently have to trouble shoot, and if all of the assumed facts above are true, this is as good a theory as any. Good luck.
I thought the white stuff from the components was a bad sign, but I saw yours had it too, i have exactly the same power supply damage and right now I’m trying to solder it again and see if I’m as lucky as you, wish me luck
EdT1138 Classic Gaming Enthusiast actually it went great, it turns on again and I got scared the soul outta me because I was expecting cracking sounds, but it turned on. I’m happy with the results, thanks for the vid :’)
Really good info in your Video. My original Xbox wont power on, I have opened and inspected the PCB and there is no sign of damage. I have also inspected motherboard and did not find any signs of damage. Capacitors are intact, not deformed or leaking... Do you have any other advice as to what to look for? Thanks Ed...
+Macdragon451 If you get no power at all it could be a bunch of different things. If there are no obvious signs you might be better off picking up another one, because it can get quite expensive replacing various stuff if there are no clues to go on.
Macdragon451 Sorry, I know it probably wasn't what you wanted to hear, but sometimes that's the way it works out. You could sell off the parts on ebay to help pay for a replacement, or turn it into a PC for fun.

@@edt1138 Yeah! My daughter suddenly found a game that wasn't even unwrapped (Fable) and was excited to play it. I pressed the on button on my ancient Xbox and it didn't start up. I'll have to open it up and do the same inspection. I heard it might be a capacitor that might have leaked, or burst capacitors. I mean, it worked the last time (10 years ago or whatever) when I last played it, so I can't think of anything else that might have damaged it! THanks for the video! I'll use it to open up my old xbox!
Ok, couple of things. Do you plan on turning the Xbox into an emulator-box? If so, I'd like to see a video on that too. Since I'm not too savvy in hardware, what does a blown capacitor look like compared to a healthy one? Seemed to be fairly easy to put back together, minus that screw. There needs to be more edt1138 fixing shit videos, dammit!
I had considered making one of the two I just picked up an emulation hub. A bad capacitor will usually be swollen or bulging on top, and sometimes even burst and leaking. However, I have had to replace a few that showed no signs of fault, and the only way to know for sure is to test or replace them, but there are usually signs that capacitors are the issue: slow to power up, shutting off after power up, dimming, low or no sound, flickering, and anything that suggests power fluctuation. Those things don't necessarily guarantee that caps are the issue, but there is a really good chance.
***** Sounds like a belt. I don't know about the drives in Xboxes, but I have replaced them in old PC drives, and you can usually get to the belt by reaching under the tray (while the tray is extended) with some long needlenosed pliers.
the most common problem of the original xbox, the fucking power jack and the power cord. it happened with mine, 1)the jack started moving around and not connecting had to put some pressure against in order for it to work i paid money and got it fixed 2) then the cable stopped working bought another one 3) that dreaded day I connected the power cord, sparks appeared, then the smell of something burning and that was it it now has the exact same problem as the xbox in the vid
I've actually seen an original Xbox power supply start a tiny blue fire and another was sparking when you fiddled with the power cord. I think the early models had a faulty design or something.
I pulled my xbox out of my closet after years of no use as I have a halo one as well that I use instead although it's been years as well since I used it as well. Don't know where it is actually lol. Back to the og xbox I plug it in and instantly turns on won't shut flashing red and green also disc tray stopped open years back.
Argh, good video but don't think I can find the right one for me. My Xbox only turns on by plugging it in. The power button doesn't work, and more recently, the eject button doesn't work (but when plugging it in, it can eject the disc tray). But I was playing some KOTOR and then the disc drive kept ejecting and closing continually.
Lol! Jk, but thx for the vid! Also i have a original xbox and it only shows in black a white when i play. Then i bring it to me friends house and it works fine and i bring it back and it stoped working completly. Do you have any ideas why?

One thing I have noticed is that when I press the power button, I hear a slight noise (like the DVD drive or hard drive trying to start and then stopping). Power light doesn't come on at all. So it's as if it's trying to start but it can't. Thoughts?
@@Nebulous6 Capacitors?
@@edt1138 I just wish I knew which caps to focus on. I see one guy replaced five identical? caps near the main power connector to the motherboard (6.3 volt 3300 uF each). Do you think I should start with those?
@Nebulous6 If it is a power issue, the power supply or where it connects to the mainboard is a good place to start looking.
Help please: my Crystal 2004 XBox shows some video flicker ?! What gives ?
Hey mine's does the same thing and I have to bend the cord under the Xbox so it can stay turned on.
+Fred Moreno Could be a similar issue then.
I am saving this video. I have an OG Xbox myself that I plan on fixing and getting back on PSO like the good old days.
Good luck.
I pulled my original Xbox out my cupboard but no controller ports work well acctually im no sure if its the ports or the controler itself
+trollofduty007 If it ends up being the ports, you can get a replacement controller board cheap off of ebay.
My xbox fell off the shelf with the cable in. It works but it buzzes now and again and stinks. Wonder if I can fix it
Could be the same issue.
Bought a Xbox today at goodwill for kicks for 2 bucks. It powers on but nothing pops up on screen and disc tray won't open up unless manually. I wanna open it up and clean it out. Never done anything like this before so it will be a fun educating experience.
Good luck.
thx. even if I cant fix it, its no loss really for me. I spend nothing on it.
+John Cockrill If you need (and if you are good with a soldering iron)I can search you a fix for that from Llama consoles.
its all good. I actually dissembled it and found out the power board was blown. I just used the parts for some art projects.
@@edt1138 Oh I totally agree about the diagnosing. I do appreciate the reply and thoughts on what it might be.
The whole hard drive/ cd rom assembly come out in one piece.
You got lucky with that burned up solder connect. I have been trouble shooting mine for an hour and nothing. Think it's the solenoid.
I'm always amazed at how often I get lucky by just disassembling a broken piece of hardware.
Good luck with yours.
Thanks. No bulged caps or bad solder joints, it's hardware. There's one transistor that goes away turning on the CPU but it's a long shot.
Remove that Clock capacitor before it kills the console!!
If your Xbox is V1.6 or V1.6b, You're completely safe
Clock compacitor?
Hunter The Reckoning it’s been a year but the solder joint issue usually only happens with the older Xbox consoles
I almost threw my box away after it didn't power up, but I will try to fix. Thanks for the video.

Hey my Xbox has a 07 red ring of death which means hard drive issue do you have any ideas in how to fix this?
If it is a bad hard drive, there isn't much to do but replace it. It is a simple IDE drive that you can find pretty cheap, but I remember somebody telling me that they bough an original off of ebay that had everything pre-loaded. I'm not sure, but it might be worth checking out.
Xbox Halo edition orange ring plug to the tv no signal a lot noise on the fan any ideas help ?
Sorry, I don't think I can be of much help with this one.
What would you rank the difficulty of the soldering required to fix the psu for someone who has never held a soldering iron before?
I would practice on something you don't care about first, but if you clean all of the surfaces and use flux this particular fix was pretty easy. The hardest part was taking everything apart and putting it back together again.
@@edt1138 thank you so much. I will give it a try!
Alan keys worked awesome for those t20 bits
I bought an xbox earlier this year and it worked perfectly for the first few months, the most use it's gotten in the past couple months was turning it on once a month or two ago, and now it refuses to turn on
is it a power cable issue or an issue with the console itself?
If that Jack is loose or definitely needs to be fixed. I hope everything works fine after you fix it.
broken original xbox drives can be replaced with 360 drives, ive done it 3 times with 2 lite on drives and a hitachi, what you need is a sata to ide adapter( the cheap simple kind).
simply remove the 360 plastic bits and fit the drive into the tray, add the adapter and put it back together if it bothers you about the dvd tray its easy to mod it.
the best bit is the 360 liteon drives are quieter and read faster, of course it wont read 360 disks but they read og xbox disks fine, this works on unmodded boxes i'm told though the 3 i did were modded 2 hard 1 soft, i also used the sata adapter on the hd so i could use sata disks, that might not work on the unmodded boxes though i dont know if the sata hd drives can be locked by the xbox, this is still required on soft and unmodded boxes, but an hitachi 360 dvd drive worked in a soft modded 1.6 i had.
there is no key on og xbox drives, and they are easier to play with,
Bought one off Facebook. Worked for 3 days now all of a sudden it wont power on and I didn’t have a power surge or anything. Dont know what to do

Hey, I have a question
I rescued a Xbox Original, it works but whenever I turn it on, the dvd drive opens by itself... When I put it back on, it opens again even with a disk on... Do you know why is that caused by and how to fix it?
***** Not off the top of my head, sorry. I know you can pick a new drive up cheap though, if spending a bit more money on it is a worthwhile option for you.
I really want to know if the problem is de DVD drive or another kind of problem first... I think I'll find someone who borrows me one xD
*****
Oh, it definitely sounds like a problem with the drive itself.
My Xbox is a 1.6 and it won't turn on. What should I do?
check out the capacitors, I'm 99% sure that it is your problem.
As the other guy said, when in doubt check the capacitors.
bro my original xbox does a strange sound when i turn on, and turn off by him self. Can you tell me what is the problem?
+Ivan Coutinho Sorry, I'm more of a hands-on repair guy, so I can't really say for sure without having it in front of me. It could be several different things.
Ivan Coutinho mine would make a weird sound when turned on, it turned out to be arcing around the power supply inside the Xbox
Elaborate? Im having the same issue.
@@anthonyr.9566 I have an og xbox that makes an electrical sound when turned on. After closer inspection it was arcing around the power wire input across the board
my xbox stopped turning on after i took it apart the clean it out and I checked the power jack and the joints are cracked
That is exactly what happened to this one. It is a fairly easy fix if you can use a soldering iron.
Have you tried a new cord? If it happens with every cord you could try a dab of hot glue.
I have one or two of those lying around :)
M’y Xbox too is not starting thanks you man for the vidéo
I hope you are able to fix it.
mine stopped working somewhere between 2012 and now.
it kinda turns on, but then turns off on its own randomly (usually right after).
i have no clue what it could be. and i just bought a widescreen 480p 32" CRT to play old games on :|

the tv is awesome though. i just wish it was native 720p instead, but i'll take 480p over 480i any day. it looks so... right. if you get what i mean.
soft, not "blurry" nor "Pixelated"
My favorite way to watch movies and play games is on my old 32" floor model television.
i had my XBOX in my closet for like 4 years because when i open the tray sometimes it turns off, sometimes i turned on on the same tray button because the power button doesn´t work.
Haven't tried it in a year, but will see about trying to fix this up this month because I miss it so much
i cant get any games to play I tried cleaning the lens but it won't read any games. it turns on just fine
You may need to replace the drive. I'm sure there are other possible causes, but I have had this problem twice, and both times it was the drive.
My Xbox was messed up where it would turn on by itself, but I tried to ignore that then today it turned off randomly and won't seem to work, it Will turn on for a second but shortly turns off.
On my xbox, when I press the open button it opens, but I press the button again to close it but it doesn't close. Do you know how to fix this?
Is the flux important into fixing the joint? My dad has some silver solder and I don't want to spend extra money if I don't need to.
Weird issue with mine, dont works unless cd-rom is unhooked, then rehooked works then stops
That is odd.
Replaced Power Supplies and now works 100%
Just picked up three Xbox consoles. One does not power on. Going to take it apart and hope it is an easy fix like this. Gracias compadre
Luckily? one has Halo 2 in the disc tray
I am surprised by how often I am able to spot an easy fix when I open electronics up. Not always, but easily more than half of the time
Turns out 5 caps on the main board where the power board plugs in were bad. Cheap fix.
My original Xbox won't turn on all of a sudden. I swapped the power supply and still the same so it has to be the motherboard. Unfortunately none of the capacitors are mushroomed so I need to invest in one of those Blue ESR meters.
Could be the motherboard, could just be a bad switch.
These old machines are pretty tough, but they are getting old, and parts eventually start to break down.
My Xbox power button won't work to turn it off and it comes on by itself any way you can help me?
How do I clean it apart while I got it ??
Depends on how thorough you want to be.
I completely disassembled it and used a toothbrush and air compressor to clean dust off of all electrical components. I hand washed all non-electrical plastic and metal components.
Anyone here know how to fix the power board of xbox original. Same power board on the video but idk i tested all of the capacitor and stuff. But there is no power output even in 12v and other lines. Thanks in advance.
If it isn't the power supply it could be the switch, or the motherboard.
Hey I got that screw driver set and I just used it on my Xbox the other day!
I can't remember what set I used, but I hope they helped you fix your console.
Mine turns on fine right but gets stuck at the boot up screen and freezes, is this the same issue? Or a different one? Any response would be appreciated:)
Definitely sound like a different issue. Could be any one of a number of things that causes that.
Is it very common for an original xbox power supply to have that issue?
I'm not sure how common it is, but I have owned 4, and two had this issue.

I tried turning it on, however the eject button flashes red, and the tray will sometimes open / close. After that, it will shut down. I also noticed that the power button doesn't work. Any help here?
+Cranberry X (Old) What is the other color it flashes?
Oddly, it just flashes red.*****
Yeah, that is odd. Sorry man, I'm not sure without having it in front of me.
Hmmm... It's alright. I still have a 360, so I can run the games, it would have been fun for the old time feel though. Got a PO box? xD
I think this has happened to my xbox but I do not solder at all! Could you repair mine??? It's modded so buying another one is pointless for me!

+Macdragon451 If you get no power at all it could be a bunch of different things. If there are no obvious signs you might be better off picking up another one, because it can get quite expensive replacing various stuff if there are no clues to go on.

what tool do I need to fix my console
How much do you charge to fix my Xbox that will not power on?
Idk how you so casually plucked that cord out, mine won't budge

the most common problem of the original xbox, the fucking power jack and the power cord. it happened with mine, 1)the jack started moving around and not connecting had to put some pressure against in order for it to work i paid money and got it fixed 2) then the cable stopped working bought another one 3) that dreaded day I connected the power cord, sparks appeared, then the smell of something burning and that was it it now has the exact same problem as the xbox in the vid
