for me my destiny 2 grind went from "what do i wanna do today?" to "what do i have to do before it's gone?" and that makes the joy and fun lackluster at best, things feel more like a chore and the "reward" feels like relief from the suffering. if it wasn't for My Name is Byf, i wouldn't even know what went on in the story while i didn't play

Nice profile pic :D but same, when Destiny started to vault things I paid for (twice might I add, since Playstation and PC do not transfer the DLCs bought on the respective platform to each other) I was and still am irritated. And when I farmed for Kindled Orchid for days upon days, never got my god roll, rolled a mediocre weapon which was finally worthless since everyone got raised to LL 1800 - this put the nail in the coffin for me.
I will never forgive them for removing my Favorite chill patrol zones like The tangled shore, mars and Titan. They were the places i'd go to just to hang out
Been playing warframe and man I’m in love it’s so fun To me destiny is directionless and I really did think I’d still be playing it but I just woke up one day and said nah I ain’t feeling this no more. I actually did come back to do the exotic mission but got error coded 5 times in a row back to title screen so I said ight guess they don’t want me back lol.
Yeah work and some new game releases this month is going to keep me away from the game for a while but I’ll still grind out the story if I can. The story no matter how mediocre some parts are, makes me curious about the path of the journey

some like luke smith quit because they knew what was coming, and jumped before they were pushed. so everyone who knew the lore well enough to continue, theyre gone and no way for the skeleton crew left to deliver on story without making retcon by mistake. even destiny 3 would be messed up but hey - the CEO who spread the company too thin then canned destiny devs while keeping the mess of marathon which will be concord with better characters, he will be able to buy more classic cars and thats what matters. but to me destiny 2 died when they sunset planets and the red war campaign. after that i couldnt afford seasons and got disconnected from a story i couldnt catch up with and made little sense - just like every player who tries destiny 2 for the first time today.
I feel like that's just something that happens though. I've been through several clans since I started playing in forsaken, and just about all of them have withered and died over time.
37:08 Hey, it's me Everyone saying he's being overly negative blows my mind. From the looks of the current player count it seems most agree, so that gives me hope. The die hards will never leave the game, but at this point that's really all that's left. Are there enough die hards to keep it going? If so how long? Most of this video is him just giving a time line of events that led us here.
" Are there enough die hards to keep it going? If so how long?" The question every dying MMO eventually has to ask. If its a game like Guild Wars that takes up about 5 mb of space and 2 dudes in a basement can keep the servers going, the answer is yes, basically forever. I kind of suspect Destiny is significantly more expensive to operate, though. And it makes me sad. I have wanted to come back to the game multiple times because god damn the gunplay feels great and I'm an MMO whore but it just vomits new mechanics and story beats I don't understand all over me and I'm like... uhh maybe next year.
You're right. Chris Wilson, CEO of Grinding Gear Games who makes Path of Exile actually knows his shit and the game is good as a result. Imagine we had something like that
its weird cause he's actually been there for a long time, this wasn't really a case of when apple hired that pepsi CEO and bankrupted apple. This guy has been with microsoft and Halo and just came over. I'm someone who didn't have any friends growing up, wasn't even allowed to use voice chat in video games. But, when Beyond Light came out my folks agreed that I was old enough to actually speak to people online and on Destiny 2, I made so many friends. You don't know how hurtful it was watching them all leave because it just wasn't fun for them. Worse, when I finally made friends IRL, I'd try and get them to play it and they literally had NO IDEA what was happening because of New Light. I've had to experience pretty much every single expansion alone.
It's one of the reasons I quit WoW it became a single player MMO that and the if you don't have Heroic Version of gear from this raid gtfo don't bother talking to us 🤦♂️ made it pretty clear the game no longer held a place for me. Destiny 2 I can and do most things alone the Duel Destiny killed that for me.
The D2 experience: -Play D2 for a few hours, get sad cause my efforts have been essentially useless for years and nothing that matters has changed for the better, uninstall, wait for new expansion, give money, play for 2 weeks, get sad when realize nothing truly changed. Repeat every few months. Destiny was once the peek of wanting to run home from school, to being soulless homework. Big sad.
At this point i just play it cause i have deep seated love for the universe. And you are pretty much the only content creator i consistently watch for it these days. I appreciate you being honest and dedicated to this game and not just simply agreeing with everyone else and jumping ship. Everyone who is still here playing knows that the game is faulty, but we remain all the same because it is our guilty pleasure. Thanks Aztecross for stickin around

NGL shadowkeep wasnt either of the game releases or kings fall. I truly feel for people who didnt get to be a part of when the game was one of the biggest things in gaming and not moments of hype with half the player base in gone in a month.
Shadow is spot on with that "PHD in Destinology". Ive tried many times to get friends to join me and my other long time playing mate but the confusion was just to great even when explaining everything in detail and the friends that had just started would only play when me or my other experienced friend were online to guide them or answer the confusing questions. Been playing since Day 1 back in 2014. After finishing the Final Shape I felt the story was fulfilled for me and haven't had the drive to log back in since.
It's all about expectations. Lots of people were like "I know exactly what the hype around Destiny launching is and if it isn't that I'll be mad". Bro I was like "fuck yeah space FPS with super powers, cool guns, different planets you can go to in our own solar system, and killing aliens? Sign me the fuck up." I feel like we underestimate the impact Of Joe Staten leaving Bungie. He created all of Destiny’s lore and narrative framework and they canned his story because it was too esoteric..which is ironic because Destiny now heavily relies on exposition for people to understand what is going on with the narrative . There is a reason why Byf’s videos are so popular and thats because he does a better job story telling than Bungie does. Joe leaving in 2014 is on Par with Hideo leaving Konami. No vision, no narrative control and certainly no idea how to coherently tell a story. I have not played since the Final shape and thats the longest I have gone without playing Destiny since 2014. I miss the game but hoping for a better future in the game is a long wait for a train don’t come.
The Grimoire cards also, Bungie hired a writer to dissect Joe’s writings and place them into these cards that you had to read on the website/app. If the bulk of your games history and story relies on a player sourcing knowledge outside of the game, you have done something wrong.
My clan had a dozen people playing at any given time, and 40-ish total. My friends list had two dozen people playing at any given time, out of 60-70 total. Today I am the *only* active clan player and I rarely, if ever, have more than 8 friends playing.
Cross, with the best will in the world, we're players, not developers. It's not our job, responsibility or concern to give a crap about the technical limitations or problems with the game. That's Bungie's job, and they're terrible at it.

I think the last month in that season was the peak of D2 ... After the release of Stasis, the game just kept going down in quality every single year. Had minor improvements then it went lower than the improvements and just kept going down.
@@idox7340 No matter how you twist or turn Destiny... there's just no prospect of constant light at the end of the tunnel anymore... Too bad... that BUNGIE's focus was no longer on making the content you paid for playable in a sandbox... Honestly? Frontiers - that all sounds great.... Destiny 3 - a dream that will never come true, unfortunately... At least you could have used previous available resources to transfer old content to the current sandbox and make it playable for everyone, with the current gameplay possibilities... Why else is there this crappy content vault? I think I'd take a bullet in the head in exchange for being able to play a few more rounds of the 6-man menagerie activity... Sounds retarded, but I'm serious. It just can't be... Instead, BUNGIE is pushing one new project after another, which they either screw up, the players find it rather meh or they can't think of anything else. "The game is too big..." - I understand this statement...then they should at least take content out of the game that most of the population of players don't like...I just can't believe and accept that the 6-man menagerie activity was not liked and enjoyed by most of the players....Then they should just take ALL Battlegrounds out of the game - most of the staff, including me, don't like them anyway...All Battlegrounds out of the game and Menagerie and PvP maps, as well as Reprised Raids like the complete Leviathan and so on back in. Or stuff like "Avalon" - fuck Avalon, who needs that shit anymore honestly, get rid of it for more resource space.... First Light introductory campaign... cut the crap - Destiny has always been a game you were thrown into to find your own way around, for me personally, part of the "magic" of the game was having to find my way around a huge universe on my own without a tutorial. Didn't look like it happened on Final Shape this time even though they did a lot of good stuff. Big thing is that I don't think Bungie has the time to really get the players back before it's too late and Pete Parsons and his ilk gut the company before they are fired by Sony.
Even as a veteran player, I wouldn't know what to do without TH-cam. Even D1, I played to level 20 on launch, but had no idea what to do in the game to get more. Legendary and Exotic engrams were a mystery to me.
TH-cam really is a wealth of information. It has helped me not just in destiny 2, but in many other games as well. I have some platinum trophies on ps5 that I wouldn't have rn if TH-cam didn't exist.
I just started Destiny 2 in 2022, and I love it. I bought every expansion bundle since. I think it's the best mmo on the market, and it's one of my favorite three games released in the last 2 years. The others being Elden Ring and Age of Wonders 4.
Been over for me for a while. I mean how many times do we really need to be in this position where the game reaches such a sorry state that the next expansion is "Make or break" and we all get wowed for idk a couple months and then it starts to get worse again. Bungie has routinely shown that they will do just enough to get by and not a bit more.
I came in on D2 Vanilla. Everything was up from there for me. Loved it. It took a minute for me to warm up to Gambit but it’s one of my favorite things about Destiny 2.
17:35 the removal of content due to technical limitations being blamed on The Witness is so funny to think of, like I wonder what the story would have been if everything stayed!
warframe, its main contender, is older, runs on older software, and still can "hold" more content. Honestly the "technical limitations" are most likely just a lie.
@jarvissense2211 thats due to bs with pre-loading and poor optimization. There are games with more assets of similar quality that eat less storage space. Dont excuse poor optimization.

@@ChosenTenshi Other than a huge decline in the engagement with the game whether that be content creation, playing the game, or even just community engagement you are starting to see many people leave the game or some parts of the community as for some Final Shape felt like the ending to the series that they had been playing since Destiny 1 Vanilla, but also part of it is just how Bungie Leadership as a whole has treated the game and because of that you will probably see here in the next few months or year especially after what happened to Destiny 1's launch or Destiny 2's launch. If Bungie doesn't somehow turn it around or there is some complete reconfiguring of who and how the company runs you will see this company lose it's players, game, revenue, community, and developers completely then that's when you can say it's completely over. It will be finally be over when push comes to shove and Bungie has to close the doors once and for all. Sadly that's probably what the company needs in order to drag themselves out of the hole they dug themselves in, unless leadership wants the ship to sink or Sony comes to save their investment. It's definitely over for people after getting their conclusion to their story, for others it's not over until the doors close or the servers shutdown. Part of it is finding out whether there is still meaning for you as player to the game and deciding what it means for you and if it is time for you to close this chapter out.
"Silence and tea" was the end of it for me. The story was keeping me logging in. Forsaken, Beyond Light and Witch Queen were my highlights as a solo player. I still have my Witch Queen in the box, probably will pack it up and put it away. Maybe Ebay. Maybe forgotten... Oh I'll never forgive Bungie for Not Forgotten. RIP Lance Reddick.
I love Destiny. For all of its flaws, it has delivered, exceptional gaming and incredible moments. As a product, it has also been incredibly mercenary in its pursuit of the live service model, and with live service games EVERYBODY has to care about the new player experience. You’re never too big to fail.
Left Warframe at MR25, when the devs decided to massively nerf melee…THREE SEPERATE TIMES. Never came back. Never will. They destroyed that whole part of that power fantasy and I never forgave them. I don’t mind ability spam and very over-powered weapons in WF but they ruined a great thing when they killed melee damage/weaponry.
Heard all the good about WQ, got through it (late but satisfied), took another break, saw the hype for LF; I said to myself, "Alright, we're coming back for good this time", memories of the recent WQ, Forsaken, Gambit at peak, TTK, HoW, og ToO, and the original VoG started replaying in my mind. Maybe the return of PvP modes and large maps, or the return of factions. So I pre-ordered the expansion and annual pass, as a personal commitment to myself and the game... Over-hyped myself for sure, but I wasn't planning for even a quarter of my expectations to met. I did however, expect to see something...ANYTHING, that would make me feel like that feeling would be possible again in the future...LF releases, I finish the campaign, did about 2 weeks worth of grinding what we had, and mid-way through week 3 while completing my weeklies, i log out and uninstall the game.
And to add on the difficult for newcomers, that one moment when Xur kidnapped all the new lights in Dares of Destiny. We all had be part of Saving Pvt. Blueberry.
The Destiny IP belongs to Sony now. Its time they put Bungie down. They first blamed MS for their failures. Then they blamed Activision for their failures. They finally went on their own and had no one to blame. Bungie has been doing minimum effort and overcharging. All that revenue to fund a non Destiny IP.

I Quit Destiny 2 a few Weeks ago and you are the only CC which I decide to stay at. The Game will never change to the Form that I would rejoin. Sad but True
One of the worst things for me is that I have many games to juggle that I want to enjoy and this game requires so much playtime I miss out on over half of my seasonal rewards. IMO, at the end of a season, you should be given the items that you paid money for. It’s such a scam that you have to pay $10 to even access. You should never have to “work” for a reward you had to pay real money for. That’s quite literally the point. Otherwise, it’s just feeding into a system that abuses your wallet since they didn’t even give you silver to purchase another pass the next season. Premium currency within the bp is necessary to make a fair sp system.
Me: "Oh cool, there's a bunch of information I didn't know about." Majority of the comment section: "Jesus man, another one of these videos? Get a life." In all seriousness. Guys, you have the option to just not watch the video. If you don't like the negative stuff, then don't watch it. It's as simple as that. Destiny as a whole has been my favorite game(s), but even I can back up and realize we haven't been given great, or even good, stuff for a long time. We've been so stuck in the FOMO for literal YEARS that we never truly stepped back and looked at what we were being given. We can't just sit back and not acknowledge that all of this ever happened, otherwise it'll just keep repeating. Just imagine how great the game could be if they fixed a lot of these problems. But no, we can just sit back, relax, say nothing, and let it keep happening. If that's what you want to do, fine, but don't complain when we're delivered bad content again in the future and we see TH-camrs keep making these videos to hopefully get word out to Bungie.
I’m one of those returning players and I have to agree. For a month I had a blast, I bough the expansion and seasonal content. As soon as I finished that stuff, the fun evaporated. It seems like they can’t win. Crafting removes the desire to grind but so does running onslaught 200 times and still not getting the roll I’m after. I get many clan invites each week but when I look them up they have 3 active players and 90 that haven’t been online in 3+ months. Not trying to turn people away from this game I don’t really care what games you play, just sharing my experience. I’ve already moved on to another game. I hope Aztecross can keep making videos because you’re good at it. I’ve enjoyed your coverage of other games lately.
I hope people realize that EoS can happened at any time without warning, it happened to many games in the past that were in decline despite showing the new stuff that was going to happen.
Hell, Final Shape by all appearances is a stellar expansion, but it flopped. I think it was because people are fed up with the Bungie executives screwing things up and then having the dev team save their butts, only to mess things up again. It also looks like the game is on its way to dying for sure with all the layoffs happening (and not the right guys getting laid off, Pete Parsons and the corporate executives) and people not really all that hyped for Marathon, so they don't bother because they are expecting more layoffs.
@@urazz7739 It's a tough one because if they just took the Lightfall year off to cook Final Shape, it could've been the highest selling expansion ever. But they needed the money from Lightfall. Such a waste.
TFS didn't not flop. 🤦♂️ where are people getting this from. Bungie despite what they told their own workers, yeah imagine that they lied, were already getting ready to fire people before TFS and regardless of how well it did. They're doing this to try and cut costs on a sinking ship and bailing out water in the hopes that they can do it enough and quick enough to save whatevers left. Though the C suite might just be doing it so they can try and hold on long enough so when they leave they're stocks will have vested unlike everyone who's been fired as of late.
Played since near enough of D1, the last few years probably a few hours near enough every day, I loved this game. But I didn't enjoy Lightfall and didn't play for a while. Got back into it, but stopped again about six months ago and not touched it since. Now playing Warframe - thanks to you Aztec - and I'm really enjoying it. Sad thing is, I'm not missing Destiny.
@chrisettle2545 I am in that exact same boat. I have also joined the tenno ranks. I played F2 since 2018 and i have recently move on.Warframe is not perfect either. No game is. However it is way more diverse and has finally gotten me hooked.
I've reinstalled warframe 20 times and i just can't get into it. I find myself falling asleep halfway through an activity very often. But i'm glad you guys found your game.
This is why I still love Aztecross - "We're gonna ride this b**** all the way down if we have to" - Dude is a trooper and keeps pumping out content for those of us who are no longer there(but still watching from the sidelines, because secretly...we want D2 to come back as the behemoth once fabled) Thanks Az
"Skyrim in the stars" is exactly how i convinced 4 coworkers to buy D1. Then i felt bad afterward because they stopped playing, and i knew i completely oversold it lmao
@motechamp actually I think it was because of how long it got delayed, it didn't actually sell less, it's just that compared to the time it took to push out, Sony looked at it as a loss
@slipstream7446 No, it literally sold less. We don't need to cope here it's been confirmed via player data that it did. The other guy is right but the context isn't really necessary, the fact is it sold less and that's that.
38:15 the funny thing is that they made it difficult to return to the game intentionally. If you didn't play for a period of time, even a small one, you would be left behind, with activities, weapons, story and so on, they intentionally made it so difficult to force us to play non-stop exactly like an addition. I remember that they hired psychologists to make the game the most addictive as possible.
@@jackrapier6748i mean yeah but the fact that destiny still here is kinda crazy, like pretty much any triple A franchise relies on anual releases cod for example if anything it shows that people want to play destiny its just up to bungie to actually deliver in that front

7 years is crazy for most multiplayer games, but its charts have always been such a roller coaster im not surprised "destiny is dead" is always seen as a joke
Warframe still beats Destiny out of the water, however both games would benefit if they just swapped developers. Bungie would bring some endgame content to the game thats missing a lot of it and DE would bring innovation to the game that keeps using the same mission/enemy types for years.
As far as the new player experience, I look at it like this. Even for day one players we all woke up in a junkyard with no idea what was going on. There was already a war going on and we were thrown into the middle of it with little explaination. Some things unraveled as the game went on but ultimately there is a huge backstory of events that predate any of us. We were resureccted by Ghost to help fight to save humanity and that's pretty much the same story for new light players. They just happened to join the fight a little later than us. Crow is a good example of a new light guardian in the lore. Uldren goes back to Destiny 1 but as a guardian, Crow didn't join until late in the story and ended up being a huge part of the final fight. But as far as Crow, the guardian, he was just thrust into the middle of a war he didn't even fully understand. It's okay for new players to be a little bit lost at first because that's the nature of the game. At least new players get a timeline of history with missions that give new players a rough idea of past events. That's more than we got in Destiny 1. I had to learn most of the backstory reading grimore cards!
Actually, it's not okay for new layers to be lost, and the player numbers pretty much prove it. New players aren't just a bit lost though, they are completely clueless on what is going on and there is no explanation whatsoever to get people caught up. It's not a good feeling when getting into a game like this where the story is a big part of the game so they leave.
@@urazz7739Exactly. I came in as a new player about a year ago and I still struggle to figure some things out. The weapon perks and artifact mods make it vastly complicated.
Been through a lot with this game, many years of love, even through the lows, then I saw the downward spiral to where it is now, and I’ve not only accepted it, but I am comfortable saying I want it to be finally laid to rest.
No, no it’s not when the future just looks like “more destiny” when in its current state destiny is complete trash, adding more of the same old same old just makes a same old pile of shit a refreshed same old pile of shit. The gameplay loop is bad, endgame is bad, hardcore playerbase is completely spurned due to ZERO difficulty within the game, master modes are completely meaningless, open world is empty and lifeless, PvP is forgotten about so viciously that most of the games content creators that play PvP have completely moved on to new games, channels dedicated to its content are dying or moving on to different games left and right hell even Aztecross is not immune he’s had to turn his channel into a mix and match of games because destiny makes no money and has been on a steady decline since Beyond light, destiny 2 is the most pathetic excuse for an mmorpg I have ever seen and their big brain answer to fixing this pile of shit is just to add MORE of the same, the new episode is just into the light update repurposed into a season 😂😂
To be fair, new player experience is lackluster bc people can’t or won’t fucking read. They skip all the help pop ups and ignore contextual information. They should add tips to the loading screen, perhaps even community created ones voted in. Let competitive players publish their builds for people to try in crucible and trials. Let players teach players easier. Let us share builds and looks in-game using a link system in chat. They should also add more combination “team-up” features for players in pve when they time a finisher well. There are sooo many things that will encourage and improve the multiplayer experience for new and old players alike.
I started this game right after it became Free to Play, winter 2k19 when I got my Stadia. It seemed like no one liked this game, all the content creators I discovered were complaining. This (shadow's) video provided the context of timing of the FTP.
The part with new players is absolutely nailed, we've lost a bunch of clan members/players that i personally know, that where enjoying the game, just when i was online and absolutely clueless and frustrated by themselves...
The rehashing of stuff they toke away completly killed the game for me. Together with the way they let pvp die. At a certain point they just tried to make money and stopped making the game for the playerbase.
I had no idea the higher ups were intentionally keeping the creative minds that have spent years working hard making this game under lock and key to not "overproduce" content. It just makes it sting that much worse because it isn't the whole studio, it's just a select few and to know that they were just a couple of internal decisions away from freeing the developers' creative freedom for the game, seasonal models, and expansions to reach their fullest potential which is what all of us have wanted for years or at least that's why I have stuck around for so long. I've stuck around to hopefully see them realize the potential, to reach that perfect formula which I have seen them come close to a couple of times and knowing that it has been impossible this entire time thanks to the higher ups of the company makes it all feel like wasted time, hope, and energy that I have poured into the game. Despite all of that, I'm happy with the experiences I have had in the game's lifetime, the friends I met, the bonds I strengthened, and the Gods that we've slain together as guardians. I couldn't have imagined a better ending story wise and I am happy I got to ride it out but it's time to hang up the cloak until maybe D3, until then, I'll see you all starside.
In Warframe i can play most of the content available and still find people to play with unlike Destiny where i am punished for not knowing a strategy. But if I am not sure how to do an activity in Warframe i can probably solo it with some weapon or build but not in Destiny 2. Destiny 2 does not feel rewarding.
Man, destiny was great, i was part of one of the largest clans in Australia, we had nearly 2000 people in the discord and 1000 people spread out over 10 ingame clans, and now the clan goes days without a single person playing and its just kinda sad see it all disappear.
I started this game in March of this year, got really into the game, it felt like such a big world with so much to do, but now even after only 6-7 months, done all the story/quests, i'm rank 11 Paragon, have all the raid crafted weapons, etc, and now I feel there is nothing else to do, I find myself farming GM's out of being bored, or just doing a raid just to do it, I love the game, I log in, and I'm sitting there in orbit like... ok... uh.... now what to do?.....I can only imagine how players who has played this game for YEARS feel, again only 6-7 months in and replayability even for me is just meh..
cross coping so hard like so many destiny addicts. Once you realize how shtty they are as devs you can never go back. I quit 2 expansions ago after 4k hours in the franchise and I never went back
I hope you are right. I love the world this game created. I really want to see where it goes. My two longtime fire team members have quit (admittedly for the second or third time now over the years), but I hope something draws them back.
i started playing D2 last Christmas (got the 2023 pack for free on epic games), played it with a friend and stayed. it took me about 3 months and some YT vids to comprehend the story even though i have finished all campaigns in the first month (bought lightfall while it was on sale). So yea it was some journey to get into the game...
Cross made some great points. I appreciate some of those nuggets like the timing of when the lease was signed in 2019. By no means defending Parsons, but it’s easy to be an armchair hindsight know it all when we aren’t directly involved. Sony didn’t drop BILLIONS to get just Destiny. Bungie was probably obligated to push the other IPs forward
I left several times, but my initial departure, the one that was the hardest pill to swallow, was sunsetting. I tried to come back and did, like I said several times. I then went back to D1 and realized I was having more fun with a defunct game.
Glad I got to play destiny in its glory days. When finding a guy with the gjallihorn for a raid was the best thing ever. Getting the icebreaker was like losing virginity
I don’t miss the build crafting of the old subclass trees but as a player that started during Covid, looking at the old trees and the art for them is still really nostalgic for me. Subclass 3.0 is wayyy better but I do wish they’d have found a way to keep some of the subclass graphics because they were really cool
Destiny will always have a place in my heart. Yes, it's been good, and yes, it's been bad, but there's nothing else like it on the market. It's one of the best games we have all played. We just can't recommend it to anyone. We named out son Cayde (who sadly passed away because of a brain tumour when The Final Shape released) and now I rock the Memory of Cayde cloak 💚
Astrobot really opened my eyes. Haven’t played since July and don’t plan on playing anytime soon. It was a good 10 year run, but I’m done until something really changes.
I came back to destiny multiple times but the first big break was when they said pretty much none of our accomplishments would carry over to D2 so I figured why start over by force.
I am a Destiny 1 day 1 until present player and I’ve taken only one vacation from the game. For me, the memories associated with vanilla destiny make it almost impossible to let go of this game. Despite the god awful management that do not give a shit about us, the players we met and developed and grew with 10 years ago, are the reason people like me still play today. I honestly hope Bungie can level and ground in reality to save the greatest community of gamers in the history of video games.
I played all the way up to beyond light. Played that on and off. Played the campaign for witch queen and none of the seasons. Played the campaign for light fall and none of the seasons. Came back for the final shape and Im hooked again. And actually pretty hyped for some of the things they're adding.
for me my destiny 2 grind went from "what do i wanna do today?" to "what do i have to do before it's gone?" and that makes the joy and fun lackluster at best, things feel more like a chore and the "reward" feels like relief from the suffering. if it wasn't for My Name is Byf, i wouldn't even know what went on in the story while i didn't play
exactly this.
Yup. Me with the 10th anniversary

I spent 70 bucks to get back up to date when i stopped playing after witch queen (skipped neptune stuff came back for final shape) played final shape for 4 days and then was like "ooh space marine 2" haven't gone back and I am actively missing out on 30 dollars worth of that 70 dollar spend 🤣. Game mechanics are still fun, but I feel 0 drive to get the loot.
This is literally how I feel right now
I bought the annual pass but cant even finish the story for echos its just so bland now
Nice profile pic :D but same, when Destiny started to vault things I paid for (twice might I add, since Playstation and PC do not transfer the DLCs bought on the respective platform to each other) I was and still am irritated.

I haven't completely quit, I am taking an extended break though. Playing some single player games lately.
I didn't know I quit until I hadn't launched the game in over a year.
After achieving everything you can get in d2, theres legit no incentive to go back. It feels great playing other games!

Been playing warframe and man I’m in love it’s so fun
To me destiny is directionless and I really did think I’d still be playing it but I just woke up one day and said nah I ain’t feeling this no more.
Bungie is a now a good case study on how to ignore your customers and squander what at times seemed like an inexhaustible amount of consumer goodwill.
Eh it's a mediocre case at best. There are far worse gaming companies that have flat out abandoned their communities

The question every dying MMO eventually has to ask.
This is why you don’t want a marketing guy as CEO of a gaming studio…
Especially if their from Microsoft, seriously, it like anyone who works or used to work for Microsoft curse any company they work

I'm so sorry! My clan mates are all gone I understand!

I feel like we underestimate the impact Of Joe Staten leaving Bungie.

Too bad... that BUNGIE's focus was no longer on making the content you paid for playable in a sandbox...
Honestly? Frontiers - that all sounds great.... Destiny 3 - a dream that will never come true, unfortunately...
At least you could have used previous available resources to transfer old content to the current sandbox and make it playable for everyone, with the current gameplay possibilities...
Why else is there this crappy content vault?

With all that, you can make room for the things in the game again, for reprised and updated things, adapted to the sandbox, from the CV... for which we have ultimately paid money somewhere in the past... It can't be that hard...

You’ll see the light in November Cross! Warframe will be your new home and you’ll never want to leave Space Mommy’s arms again

Me: "Oh cool, there's a bunch of information I didn't know about."
Majority of the comment section: "Jesus man, another one of these videos? Get a life."
In all seriousness.
You should check out the shrouded clan. It is a mega clan so there tends to be people playing all the time
Don’t forget their complete disregard for pvp aside from the new maps and weapon/ability nerfs and buffs 😂
s/o cross for including shadows ad. seriously helps him as a creator so much
I hope people realize that EoS can happened at any time without warning, it happened to many games in the past that were in decline despite showing the new stuff that was going to happen.
Hopefully sooner rather than later for D2.
This is why I still love Aztecross - "We're gonna ride this b**** all the way down if we have to" - Dude is a trooper and keeps pumping out content for those of us who are no longer there(but still watching from the sidelines, because secretly...we want D2 to come back as the behemoth once fabled)
Thanks Az
"Skyrim in the stars" is exactly how i convinced 4 coworkers to buy D1.
Then i felt bad afterward because they stopped playing, and i knew i completely oversold it lmao
19:23 why did you're editor do that to you
Taken King Era, Menagerie Era and 30th Anniversary Era are the ones that I recall as the most fun, memorable and greatest of my time in Destiny.
33:05 TFS sold less than Lightfall and peaked less players than Lightfall. There is no context to be added.
TFS did poorly because so many people gave up after Lightfall; Lightfall was only "better" because it was the expansion after WQ
I agree it’s been on a downhill slope but Lance passing away was the final nail in the coffin. It’s been a free fall ever since.

So many games have come and gone since Destiny's inception...but Destiny is still here...
Nothing lasts forever
@@jackrapier6748i mean yeah but the fact that destiny still here is kinda crazy, like pretty much any triple A franchise relies on anual releases cod for example if anything it shows that people want to play destiny its just up to bungie to actually deliver in that front
@@Kazuhira2249 The crazy thing is, call of duty at least upgrades each release pretty substantially so you could say the price tag is worth it. But destiny is charging us the same price for the same engine state, with maybe 25% reused or reskinned content each expansion. It's like bro... where is the money going???

The pvp is the most unique across all fps. If the game ever completely dies they should make a free to play spin off of a pvp only game.
This is all i ask for 😂
the og story in d1 was awesome
Is it the one that was scraped before the release? And where can I get a video to check it?

Yeah absolutely
This is like the 6th "it's over for destiny" video I've seen over the last few weeks
“Skyrim in the stars”? Cross it sure sounds like you want to play Starfield again.
Surprised Bungie never got sued into oblivion at some point over the years for how poorly they treated customers.

That challenge of reentry always helped me stay hooked after a break. Maybe I’m a glutton for punishment
