I would never have loved this game, nor become the Sonic fan I am today, if my first experience had been the JP/EU soundtrack. I wouldn't have been humming the cheesy 80s cop chase music for Stardust Speedway at Scout camp back then the way I was belting out the US Bad Future. The US soundtrack was heavily inspired by SatAM and the explosion of electronic and rock music that was prevalent at the time. My biggest gripe is that the time crunch limited their effectiveness, leading to several tracks being split into segments to play on different time states instead of being properly remastered to be unique.
I understand that the US version of this soundtrack is the iconic ELECTRIC GUITAR, bro the US electric guitar is a tremendous bomb to make rock music for a video game like Spiderman for the Sega CD (I recommend listening to its soundtrack is a gem)

Sonic CD US soundtrack is really good. Sonic Boom, Palmtree Panic (P), Stardust Speedway (BF), Wacky Workbench (P), and Tidal Tempest (P) are my most favorite.
Honestly, my only real complaint with the US OST is that the Bad Future themes really don't carry the same weight as their JP counterparts. Not as much "okay, this is a Problem!" energy, ya know? Stardust Speedway (Bad Future) still be bangin, tho

Yeah, in my opinion, the JP tracks are better than the US. Not hating on the US, but there's a reason JP tracks has been remixed and used in other sonic games. For example, Sonic Mania's take in Stardust and Metallic zones.

I wish there was an official way to pick and choose songs in sonic origins because I like songs from both the American and Japanese soundtracks. They both have mega bangers and mega stinkers.

For me, with a few exceptions, the best tracks of the US soundtrack are good. The exceptions are Stardust Speedway Good Future which is really good, Wacky Workbench Good Future and Metallic Madness Bad Future which I have legitimate nostalgia for and the latter being incredibly good compared to the rest of the soundtrack (Sonic Gems Collection was one of the first Sonic games I got and despite living in Europe and having an European PS2 and European copy of the game, I was still stuck with the US soundtrack, I don't get it) and Sonic Boom Ending which is genuinely amazing, one of my favorite ending themes of all time, holy shit, can't believe it really, how the fuck did they do that?
