  • A love letter to Cape Town, which has been home for the last 6 years. For the last few months of my time in this beautiful city, I've tried to capture a tiny piece of the magic that is every weekend spent adventuring on its mountains and beaches, and in its oceans and forests, with some of the loveliest people I've had the pleasure of meeting! Hopefully this video can be that final bit of motivation to visit this special place :)
While Cape Town is pretty remote, and fuel costs for getting around keep going up, almost all the activities in this video (other than getting onto Boulder's beach) are completely free! The mountains, forests and almost all the beaches are open to the public, and can be shared by anyone who finds their way there

This video is a collection of clips from some of Cape Town's most visually striking and naturally (or artificially) beautiful spots, but is far from a complete picture of the city. Cape Town remains one of the most unequal places in South Africa, and many of its residents struggle to get through each day. A short drive takes you from the absurdity of Clifton's wealth to the desperate poverty of Khayelitsha, and a walk or drive through the cbd is a sad reminder of the homelessness crisis that defines the city centre. Much better film-makers than me have documented that reality in a way that I never could, and so my hope is that this video can instead be a reminder of the unbelievable natural majesty of the city and its location, which I hope will become increasingly accessible with time. Despite its flaws, Cape Town remains probably my favourite city anywhere, and the optimist in me believes that its divisions need not last forever

Just as crazy in person! Always exciting to see clouds like that before a sunset, always creates something special
