This scene made me cry. There were so many great call backs in this movie. Like how rod always looked bitter when his teammates got interviewed while he sat in his locker alone. At the end when everyone now wants to talk to him he doesnt care about the press he just says " where's jerry " then they had that big hug. They were so loyal to eachother & almost did career suicide going into football without a new contract. As jerry said " if u get hurt u get nothing " rod said " u bet on me like I bet on you " rod was the only one who kept jerry as an agent & when he was having a good year that snake bob sugar started sniffing around him & he told him get lost. Loved that.
So this " u complete me line ( which in 97 every couple was quoting to eachother ) was a nice call back to when they were in the elevator & the one of the people was hard of hearing & signed u complete me. She told Jerry what the signing meant bc her face aunt was hearing impaired. I also loved " u had me at hello " this movie must have the most catch phrases in all movies.
    " u complete me "
    " u had me at hello "
" show me the money "
" help me help you "
One of my other favorites that was not a catch phrase was when jerry hit a nerve with rod that in his personal life he used his heart as he & his wife had such a great marriage & jerry said to the affect " in football u dont play with ur heart & that really got rod revved up & playing better bc be got him pissed off. Rod screamed " I'm all heart mother fu$ker.
I remember in the summer of 97 my friends & I must have watched this movie 10 times. It's so good. Good cast too cuba, regina , kelly Preston, the eagles glenn frey as the coach, arie spears renee , cruise , bonnie hunt , jerry o'Connell, beau bridges Jay Mohr plus real life athletes like troy Aiken & a cameo with Roy Firestone. Movies in the 90s had such great ensemble casts. Off the top of my head boogie nights had the best one. Reynolds, moore , Cheadle, heather Graham, Philip Seymour Hoffman , William Macy, Wahlberg, john c oreilly . Of course QT had great ensemble casts in all his films but particularly pulp fiction. That cast was great. Travolta Willis samuel jackson , harvey keitel, rosanna Arquette, eric stoltz , ving rhames uma & chris walken. This movie was a breakout for so many or a comeback for actors who had been big but their careers fell off.
Springsteen did a really good song the secret garden. He became the go to guy for movies. Was really happy cuba got the oscar but I feel cruise got ripped off a lot. He deserved an oscar for rain man. Dustin won. Without tom that movie would not have been as good. He also deserved one for born on the 4th of july.

The major call back was “You complete me”. I get it now. He was a guy big on loyalty. He said it. He seen his loyalty pay off for Rod and they embraced like loving brothers. Loyalty for him equaled love, and when she stood up and went with him after he got fired he fell in love with her right then. He just didn’t understand that emotion at the time. That’s why the call back.

His work had left him emotionally drained, he didn’t know what actually caring or love was about until he saw others and felt human interaction. She lied about using him, he had her at hello. She fell instantly in love- that can and does happen. Unfortunately, like most things in life and most of us, it’s about 2% of the population. We give in or give up. It’s usually one begging and the other not, she never begged here, nor he, which makes the movie interesting. I encourage young people not to settle, to find that one or that feeling of being “completed,” that incredible spark. You will know it when you feel it. To never allow anyone or thing get in the way of it, never. Relationships are the most important decisions we make in our lives. Choose wisely and nurture them. A great life depends on it.

@@jford196 he really is. It's so sad that the critics & a lot of the public think b/c someome is really good looking they cant act or are a himbo/bimbo. Cruise caught fire very young. So he started w/ q few movies where he plays a teen b/c he was one or in his very early 20s. Its really crazy he did not get best supporting for rain man. It wasnt til born on the 4th of july he had to make himself look unlike his usual pretty boy in prior films w/ make up & a wig & facial hair. Then people realized wow hes a really good actor. Same w/ farrah Fawcett. Literally a pin up girl who's poster was on every boys wall or soldiers locker. On Charlie's Angel's the scripts were not bad but more to accentuate her looks. She had to look way mess glam in extremeties & the burning bed for people to say ' she can act " farrah even told barbara Walter's it was very annoying to only be thought of as beautiful but no brains. This has been going on forever. Brad pitt & leo DiCaprio early on were thought as " pretty boys " b4 they started different roles. I read that anne rice was was furious they cast cruise as lestat til she saw it & thought he was perfect. He was awesome. Look how other pretty people had to make themselves w/ make up or extreme weight loss to win osvars like bale , Theron & McConaughey.

I can give two craps about his religious beliefs, I love Tom Cruise for the actor that he is, the absolute entertainment he provides for his fans, and the most wonderful interviews I have ever seen from an actor. His personal beliefs, his personal life, is NONE of our business, because he is living his life on how he sees fit, just like the rest of us. He continues to make incredible movies, and like he says, it's a privilege to perform for all of his fans. He is so friendly with the crowds at all of his premiers, signs autographs, and jumps into the audience at Jay Leno, to talk to his fans. You don't see hardly any other celeb doing that, or signing autographs, or jumping into the audience. Lots of celebs will say, no, I don't sign autographs, or no, I won't send pictures, or I don't do this or, I don't do that. Well, take a lesson from Tom then, because us as fans, are making YOU what YOU are today!!! Keep up the great work Tom Cruise, your smile and laughter light up the world.

Tom Cruise belief of Scientology has a lot to do with his appreciation for the Church's project rather than the religious belief.
Basically, as he stated, Scientology's research and programs helped him in the past with his dyslexia. And since improving his dyslexia helped a lot in the actor's career. He feels the obligation to repay them and be grateful.

"I'm looking for my wife." Jerry just had one of the biggest wins of his solo agent career, and realized it meant nothing without her there. Just such a masculine thing to say in this moment. Stepping into the lion's den, not sure how it's going to go, doubt and fear circulating his mind, realizing he'd made a mistake, and taking a chance to hopefully get the chance to make things right. Atta boy Jerry. That's takes courage.

    • @thegame1496
      @thegame1496 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@tysanpagz4311 when you’re telling a woman she completes you, you’re telling her you’re not already enough for her. That you’re not everything God had in mind for you when creating you. If He isn’t the one that makes you complete then being with her is a mistake because you’re telling her that you’re not the man she needs you to be until you let her. You’re setting yourself up for failure because we are not perfect and so our definition of complete cannot be found in each other. So it’s a great moment, but Jerry is still a damaged man because Dorothy wasn’t complete herself and she was damaged as well. He definitely loves her, and that’s what you finally see here, but to say she completes him is setting yourself up to fail. We can fill a need in our lives but not completely. Only God can make us complete because he doesn’t change and isn’t damaged. Still a great movie, but this is a horrible line. Sounds sweet, but devastating to a woman and to a man. She will never be able to live up to the standard he is making her out to be. She’s only human. And the reverse is true too. He’d never be able to live up to it if she said it to him

      Amen to that, brother.
Speaking from personal experience any guy I have ever know that uses a line like "you complete me" always watches the relationship crumble or wither and die.
Then they spend months and years trying to figure it out or get their "mojo" back... when they never lost it in the first place.
