You don't have to be sad everyday to ”display” you're missing a loved one. The Smiths have handled their son’s death well. They have other kids to deserve to experience joy. Granger and Amber, ya’ll are amazing, kind, generous people.
I lost my brother in all but blood, a man who literally saved my life, 15 years ago. I get sad now and then, but I'm finally to the point where I can say "Scott would love this," and not break down.
I love the way y’all feed off of one another. Granger sensed Amber’s emotions and was able to make her smile when she felt like crying ❤️ y’all are something else. Something fierce. Something so amazing. The most HUMBLE family I’ve ever met, and I mean that from the bottom of my heart.

Here's a good question. Well i hope it is. Question for everyone even in the comments. We are trying to get as many prayers as we can get for our 26 week old baby. He was born early due to my wife having an infection. So far he is doing good an we believe the lord is by his side but more prayers the better! He has 13 more weeks in the hospital an we are hoping an praying he has a good 13 week stay so he can come home! God bless everyone an have a great day an stay safe!
How am I handling this elephant that has turned the world upside down? Answer: I'll deal with it'. Many years ago I learned to be a 'rubber tree' and bend to whatever is happening in my world. In 6 1/2 months I will turn 70 and with God's love I am healthy. HE is my protector, I know, because he has already cured me of cancer. Am a 10 yr survivor. Planning to have a container garden this year to help myself eat better. Love to you all and God Bless you.

I am in a new relationship, I am 67 and he is 78 and we are IN LOVE! This is a wonderful time in our life to be alive and so what if we have to social distance! Having a blast!!! We cook, we play cards, we hug each other. Life is good.

When I was in high school my father passed away and I found him dead on the couch when I came home from school. The reason I say this is because when we had his funeral there was probably 1000 people there, he was a very loved person who made friends with everyone and anyone but at his funeral I started feeling better to see that him passing wasn't bad because of all the people that loved him and the lives he touched but when I smiled I felt I like I was wrong for smiling at his funeral. I can remember that to this day and that was in November of 1999!i
RaspingPompano2 I think that’s why some people started calling it a celebration of life rather than a funeral. So we can smile and celebrate a life well lived, and so we can honor their life by enjoying life at ALL its stages. Everyday we have breathe it’s a reason to smile. Sheepdog Smokey Watch the Soda . My friend got stomach cancer from soda . It’s a killer,it turned into ulcerative colitis,and he just had severe surgery. Soda is like well acid on a copper penny. It’s ok once in a while,but very addictive.

What’s going to happen is people are going to let their guard down ,and bam , kill more . This virus ,is beyond serious. Watch a video, people are testing negative then they get it . Carrier’s have zero symptoms. Cough into elbow, wash hot soapy water and sanitizer. Helping our seniors , homeless , and shelters . How many times have we walked past a veteran who fought for our freedom? He’s got ptsd and hungry,nothing,and then I watch people like this , it’s heartbreaking, but we’re all here to grow spiritually. You know how it feels to be out of work ,as a band ,imagine if you found a war , had ptsd, homeless and your fellow man walks by you like your invisible. These are real issues,not laughing at diarrhea. Not you personally.

It's been a few years since I lost my son, and I've also found that there are people that will never understand how I feel inside, and I pray they never will understand it. Like the person that asked y'all that question. They just see the times I'm smiling/living, and they take it that I'm always that way. They don't see the times when I'm alone and catching myself not breathing because I'm missing and thinking about my boy. And they don't see the mornings when I'm waking up but still half asleep, and I wonder if my boy is up yet, and in the very same thought reality hits me. There is no getting over something like this, there's only getting through it day by day. I hope both of you have a good evening, God Bless.

We are doing well, we travel full time in our RV so we have a few unique challenges especially as many states are closing their state park camping. We leave tomorrow to drive 1400 miles to get closer to family as this is going on just in case further travel restrictions go into place. Thankfully self quarantine hasn't been too difficult in the RV :)
WOW! I wish there was a way for you to make yourselves into fairy dust and sprinkle it around the world ( yeeyee-dust) bc the world would no doubt become a better place. Granger is right anxiety can kill you , ( I'm a nurse) . What you refer to as taking care of yourself, family and it will filter out is " self actualization " you know who you are, you know your value systems, and you dont just talk about it , you demonstrate it , you live by it , you will fight for it , what is doing the right thing based on being like christ. Living and "being" like that can and will change people to make the right decisions even when it involves personal sacrifices. There is also self preservation, it's not selfish but yes we have to put family first a natural, normal instinct. That is necessary bc it allows you to become a more productive, contributor to others who need help . This spring break I left my college, professors, and friends without knowing it would be the last time I would see them...... :( because of CORVI-19 the campus closed down and now all classes are online.... I also had to leave my apartment in campus :( This is really sad because this is my senior year, which means I never got to say, “thank you” to my professors in person... I might not see some of my friends who live in different countries.... and it was the last time I hung out with my buddies at our apartment as college students .... and as of right now my graduation ceremony is canceled... although this is all really sad... I am grateful that I came across The Smith’s channel almost a year ago... and through out that time, I have learned a lot.... One of the things I’ve learned is to live every moment like it’s the last one....to stay present and conscious to every single moment that matters.... implementing all these new lessons in my life have helped me be a better person today.... and enjoy life a lot more... I lost a baby girl when I was around 7 months pregnant (definitely NOT comparing my situation to people that have lost a child in a situation such as yours) & it was devastating. 8 years later, I lost my dad...He was 48 & I was unprepared to lose a parent when I was only 27 years old. The 1st Christmas after my dad passed I was struggling & at a gathering I asked a family member (my husband's cousin), who had lost his mother a couple of years prior, "How do you get over this?" His answer remains the best thing anyone has EVER said to me..."You will never get over it, you just learn to live around what happened & eventually life begins to happen again & it becomes easier to live it." When he 1st said it, I thought "Thanks a lot, you've just told me that I'm going to be in pain over this forever!" When I took a minute to actually think about it, I can genuinely say that I'm so grateful that he was honest & didn't just add another "Time heals all wounds" sentiment to my pile. Instead, I feel like I was given permission to live life... Laugh, smile & allow myself those moments of sadness OR to even daydream about what would be happening right now if either OR both were still here. As harsh as some people might think that sounds, he was right. It's been over 20 years since I lost my daughter & almost 14 since my dad passed & there's NOT 1 single day that I don't miss them. There are even times that something happens & I'll grab my phone thinking "Let me call dad" before I have to settle, again, into the reality that he's gone. But, just having that happen proves that those words that I was told are 100% right. I was able to have a "call dad" thought in that moment because it HAS become easier to live life with it & in doing just that, I get many moments where it feels like he's still here, which in turn makes it easier to actually live...I probably did a crappy job of explaining that but hopefully whoever reads it understands! 😊 Never think that someone has gotten over a tremendous loss just because they're smiling when you see them...Everyone needs to live through the pain in whatever way works best for them. My heart hurts for your family BUT I will say that your baby boy is looking down & he has ALL the love that you gave him tucked into his heart & I'm sure that he's incredibly proud of the beautiful way that you have continued to honor his life. I work at one of the biggest hospitals in Alabama and this is way more worse than the flu This virus lives on surfaces for up to 2 weeks where the flu last 3 hours I’ve seen many people with the flu and none or hardly any are on ventilators this takes over your lungs and is very frightening thing Be safe❤️

As a first grade teacher heading into (at least) 3 weeks of “e-learning”.. I’m stressed and sad to not be at school with my kiddos, but I am so blessed to have a secure income and time with my own children that I would otherwise miss. It’s a scary time, but only made scarier by the compounding hysteria. Like Amber said, we have a choice! Life has handed me some serious lemons this past week, but I’m ready to make the best of it all. I am so thankful for lights like the two of you through all of this chaos! 💓

I don't understand how someone can ask the question how did you get over your son dying, I lost my daddy 13 years ago and it still feels like I lost him today. You never get over the loss of a loved one and it's so heartbreaking. Now....as for this “CoronaVirus” insanity.....My heart breaks for the sick & the lives lost. However, MANY have lost all sense of reality. Up to 60,000 ppl a year die from the flu. I believe the latest number of deaths from Covid19 is 250. 1 life lost is too many & I am NOT dismissing that. But, we have now let this insanity crash the world economy, stop “life” as we know it, caused a food & supply shortage, etc. We have got to get a grip. Turn off the TV, pick up your Bible & pray. God is the only one to lift this sickness & chaos from our nation, from this Earth. In that, continue to pray for our leaders, our healthcare workers, our military, our police/fire/EMT’s, your neighbor, your family & friends & every American affected by this whether physically, financially, mentally or all. I thank God my family is well, but we have been hit financially in a way we NEVER saw coming. Half of our retirement savings is now gone. My husband’s job in the oil & gas industry is at risk. Honestly, it feels horrible & I’m a mess. But at the end of the day, I’m healthy, my family is healthy, I have a nice home, food in the fridge, I live in the best country on the planet & my God NEVER FAILS. Joy will come in the morning. It is scary for me bc I have a comprised immune system. I am only 40. I've had a comprised immune system since I was 18. A simple cold takes me for like 2-3 weeks. The flu takes me out for like 2 months. I definitely do not need this coronavirus. No we are NOT OVERREACTING. Sorry, i disagree.
Here in BC the kids are now being told they are out of school till sept 🤦♀️🤦♀️😱 thats 6 months.....crazy.. were NOT hording but also thankful we hunt and will be fine... we both thankfully still have work, and that the kids can stay home alone... but its crazy times.. We had a funeral on January 20th our nephew passed suddenly just 3 weeks after his 24th birthday leaving his one year old son and many more family members! Anyway we all caught norovirus at the funeral everyone caught it, thankfully we all recovered well!! My husband a very rare heart condition and doctors at mayo clinic where he had surgery to reshape his heart told him if he had waited 6 months he would be on the transplant list! They also told him that he had an additional genetic condition and with combined with the reason he had the surgery (Epsteins anomaly) they said they have never seen anyone live this long with both condition. My point is he is very much high risk with the coronavirus and he just flew from Montana to Seattle where he got a call to go home! He was on his way to Oakland then Sacramento, he works for PG&E and they have a federal order to finish contracts for inspections on powerlines. Fire season is coming and people are going to be quarantined in home surrounded by outdated lines! Please pray for us that he wasn't exposed to coronavirus and our two babys dont catch it!
It's people like you guys that I look up to. So growth-oriented and willing to share with others what you've learned, while still trying to navigate tough times. I love that you brought up being able to have fun and smile when you do have those tough times in life that we all have. 'How do you get over your son's death?' WOW! Hoping they meant 'how do you get through this tragedy?' Two things immediately come to mind, 'Having God in your life makes the process SO MUCH EASIER! It gives you a totally different perspective on life and death!" All tragedies get 'easier' with time but none of them EVER leave your mind and spirit completely. Also there is the fact that contrary to what some people might think, The Smith's do edit their videos! We are so thankful this is not a GI bug!! Sadly, we are currently quarantined for 14 days. My husband and I traveled to Nashville last week (our 1st vacation without kids 🤣). We actually left and came home early because everyone was getting crazy. My husband was swabbed Sunday - the test finally came back on Tuesday evening (positive). We do not have the “symptoms” the media and cdc say to watch out for. It’s honestly just like a common cold - congestion, sneezing, runny nose, migraine etc. We have not been concerned about it. We are home for 14 days and never “stocked up” - we will get through this! The kids will learn to eat new foods - yay pantry clean out 🤪. I hope you all stay healthy and safe! Glad we have The Smiths to get us through this time ❤️
Will you never get Over IT , I have been asked that as well about both of my sons who have passed away . My first son Tommy was born with Open spin and died at the age of three months . 16 months later along comes our son Matthew , and then 18 months later our Daughter Reatha . Then sadly at the age of 19 Matthew was killed in a accident on our ranch . . What upset me more than anything at the funerals of both , was total strangers coming up to us and saying , OH , I KNOW HOW YOU FEEL .... YOU HAVE NO CLUE HOW I FEEL , ...After Matthews death I hated everyone , I was MAD at GOD and the World .. Even though , through my Faith and my Church , I knew WHY they had been called home ...The one who hurt the most was my Daughter Reatha and I never saw it because I was in my own World . . What a wonderful daughter she is . Her way of dealing with it was to go to school and to work ..Then she moved away to the East Coast from the West coast . It has been 40 years now since Tommy died and 20 years since Matthew died and there has not been a day that has gone by where I start thinking about both of them and break down and Tear up and wonder , What IF . YOU NEVER GET OVER IT , NEVER .. Every time I see your opening with River in it I tear up for you , your Family.... I know as I take my last Breath here on earth , both of my sons will be there to take my hands and walk me through the vial to the other side where we will be a family forever . I hope we can meet face to face one day .. GOD BLESS

You don't have to be sad everyday to ”display” you're missing a loved one. The Smiths have handled their son’s death well. They have other kids to deserve to experience joy. Granger and Amber, ya’ll are amazing, kind, generous people.

Here's a good question. Well i hope it is. Question for everyone even in the comments. We are trying to get as many prayers as we can get for our 26 week old baby. He was born early due to my wife having an infection. So far he is doing good an we believe the lord is by his side but more prayers the better! He has 13 more weeks in the hospital an we are hoping an praying he has a good 13 week stay so he can come home! God bless everyone an have a great day an stay safe!

How am I handling this elephant that has turned the world upside down? Answer: I'll deal with it'. Many years ago I learned to be a 'rubber tree' and bend to whatever is happening in my world. In 6 1/2 months I will turn 70 and with God's love I am healthy. HE is my protector, I know, because he has already cured me of cancer. Am a 10 yr survivor. Planning to have a container garden this year to help myself eat better.

When I was in high school my father passed away and I found him dead on the couch when I came home from school. The reason I say this is because when we had his funeral there was probably 1000 people there, he was a very loved person who made friends with everyone and anyone but at his funeral I started feeling better to see that him passing wasn't bad because of all the people that loved him and the lives he touched but when I smiled I felt I like I was wrong for smiling at his funeral. I can remember that to this day and that was in November of 1999!i

So we can smile and celebrate a life well lived, and so we can honor their life by enjoying life at ALL its stages. Everyday we have breathe it’s a reason to smile. Carrier’s have zero symptoms. Cough into elbow, wash hot soapy water and sanitizer. Helping our seniors , homeless , and shelters . How many times have we walked past a veteran who fought for our freedom? He’s got ptsd and hungry,nothing,and then I watch people like this , it’s heartbreaking, but we’re all here to grow spiritually. You know how it feels to be out of work ,as a band ,imagine if you found a war , had ptsd, homeless and your fellow man walks by you like your invisible. These are real issues,not laughing at diarrhea. Not you personally.

It's been a few years since I lost my son, and I've also found that there are people that will never understand how I feel inside, and I pray they never will understand it. Like the person that asked y'all that question. They just see the times I'm smiling/living, and they take it that I'm always that way. They don't see the times when I'm alone and catching myself not breathing because I'm missing and thinking about my boy. And they don't see the mornings when I'm waking up but still half asleep, and I wonder if my boy is up yet, and in the very same thought reality hits me. There is no getting over something like this, there's only getting through it day by day.

We are doing well, we travel full time in our RV so we have a few unique challenges especially as many states are closing their state park camping. We leave tomorrow to drive 1400 miles to get closer to family as this is going on just in case further travel restrictions go into place. Thankfully self quarantine hasn't been too difficult in the RV :)
WOW! I wish there was a way for you to make yourselves into fairy dust and sprinkle it around the world ( yeeyee-dust) bc the world would no doubt become a better place. Granger is right anxiety can kill you , ( I'm a nurse) . What you refer to as taking care of yourself, family and it will filter out is " self actualization " you know who you are, you know your value systems, and you dont just talk about it , you demonstrate it , you live by it , you will fight for it , what is doing the right thing based on being like christ. Living and "being" like that can and will change people to make the right decisions even when it involves personal sacrifices. There is also self preservation, it's not selfish but yes we have to put family first a natural, normal instinct. That is necessary bc it allows you to become a more productive, contributor to others who need help . This spring break I left my college, professors, and friends without knowing it would be the last time I would see them...... :( because of CORVI-19 the campus closed down and now all classes are online.... I also had to leave my apartment in campus :( This is really sad because this is my senior year, which means I never got to say, “thank you” to my professors in person... I might not see some of my friends who live in different countries.... and it was the last time I hung out with my buddies at our apartment as college students .... and as of right now my graduation ceremony is canceled... although this is all really sad... I am grateful that I came across The Smith’s channel almost a year ago... and through out that time, I have learned a lot.... One of the things I’ve learned is to live every moment like it’s the last one....to stay present and conscious to every single moment that matters.... implementing all these new lessons in my life have helped me be a better person today.... and enjoy life a lot more... I lost a baby girl when I was around 7 months pregnant (definitely NOT comparing my situation to people that have lost a child in a situation such as yours) & it was devastating. 8 years later, I lost my dad...He was 48 & I was unprepared to lose a parent when I was only 27 years old. The 1st Christmas after my dad passed I was struggling & at a gathering I asked a family member (my husband's cousin), who had lost his mother a couple of years prior, "How do you get over this?" His answer remains the best thing anyone has EVER said to me..."You will never get over it, you just learn to live around what happened & eventually life begins to happen again & it becomes easier to live it." When he 1st said it, I thought "Thanks a lot, you've just told me that I'm going to be in pain over this forever!" When I took a minute to actually think about it, I can genuinely say that I'm so grateful that he was honest & didn't just add another "Time heals all wounds" sentiment to my pile. Instead, I feel like I was given permission to live life... Laugh, smile & allow myself those moments of sadness OR to even daydream about what would be happening right now if either OR both were still here. As harsh as some people might think that sounds, he was right.
It's been over 20 years since I lost my daughter & almost 14 since my dad passed & there's NOT 1 single day that I don't miss them. There are even times that something happens & I'll grab my phone thinking "Let me call dad" before I have to settle, again, into the reality that he's gone. But, just having that happen proves that those words that I was told are 100% right. I was able to have a "call dad" thought in that moment because it HAS become easier to live life with it & in doing just that, I get many moments where it feels like he's still here, which in turn makes it easier to actually live...I probably did a crappy job of explaining that but hopefully whoever reads it understands! 😊
Never think that someone has gotten over a tremendous loss just because they're smiling when you see them...Everyone needs to live through the pain in whatever way works best for them. My heart hurts for your family BUT I will say that your baby boy is looking down & he has ALL the love that you gave him tucked into his heart & I'm sure that he's incredibly proud of the beautiful way that you have continued to honor his life.

I work at one of the biggest hospitals in Alabama and this is way more worse than the flu This virus lives on surfaces for up to 2 weeks where the flu last 3 hours I’ve seen many people with the flu and none or hardly any are on ventilators this takes over your lungs and is very frightening thing Be safe❤️

As a first grade teacher heading into (at least) 3 weeks of “e-learning”.. I don't understand how someone can ask the question how did you get over your son dying, I lost my daddy 13 years ago and it still feels like I lost him today. You never get over the loss of a loved one and it's so heartbreaking. I don’t know you, but words hold power, they have meaning. Amber & Granger lost their precious baby in a tragic accident & as a viewer, as a fan, as a friend, I am PROUD of them. They have worked hard & PRAYED EVEN HARDER for God to let the light shine. To be a victor & not a victim. To be a helper & not a taker. Now....as for this “CoronaVirus” insanity.....My heart breaks for the sick & the lives lost. However, MANY have lost all sense of reality. Up to 60,000 ppl a year die from the flu. I believe the latest number of deaths from Covid19 is 250. 1 life lost is too many & I am NOT dismissing that. But, we have now let this insanity crash the world economy, stop “life” as we know it, caused a food & supply shortage, etc. We have got to get a grip. Turn off the TV, pick up your Bible & pray. God is the only one to lift this sickness & chaos from our nation, from this Earth. In that, continue to pray for our leaders, our healthcare workers, our military, our police/fire/EMT’s, your neighbor, your family & friends & every American affected by this whether physically, financially, mentally or all. I thank God my family is well, but we have been hit financially in a way we NEVER saw coming. Half of our retirement savings is now gone. My husband’s job in the oil & gas industry is at risk. Honestly, it feels horrible & I’m a mess. But at the end of the day, I’m healthy, my family is healthy, I have a nice home, food in the fridge, I live in the best country on the planet & my God NEVER FAILS. Joy will come in the morning. Fear and worry is the devil trying to creep in. I will keep my faith & I pray each viewer of The Smith’s joins me. It is scary for me bc I have a comprised immune system. I am only 40. I've had a comprised immune system since I was 18. A simple cold takes me for like 2-3 weeks. The flu takes me out for like 2 months. I definitely do not need this coronavirus. No we are NOT OVERREACTING. Sorry, i disagree.
Here in BC the kids are now being told they are out of school till sept 🤦♀️🤦♀️😱 thats 6 months.....crazy.. were NOT hording but also thankful we hunt and will be fine... we both thankfully still have work, and that the kids can stay home alone... but its crazy times.. Granger I saw the chicken and dumplings you made, i dont love cooking..lol but looked easy enough so I made it and the family LOVED it, so thanks but what other easy meals do you both make that i could try since we all have lots of time on our hands..lol love you all.. 🎣🦌🎈🦋🎶 I rock out everyday to you, love your in it, and thats why I love dirt roads.. well all of it but those are on most right now..

We had a funeral on January 20th our nephew passed suddenly just 3 weeks after his 24th birthday leaving his one year old son and many more family members! Anyway we all caught norovirus at the funeral everyone caught it, thankfully we all recovered well!! My husband a very rare heart condition and doctors at mayo clinic where he had surgery to reshape his heart told him if he had waited 6 months he would be on the transplant list! They also told him that he had an additional genetic condition and with combined with the reason he had the surgery (Epsteins anomaly) they said they have never seen anyone live this long with both condition. My point is he is very much high risk with the coronavirus and he just flew from Montana to Seattle where he got a call to go home! He was on his way to Oakland then Sacramento, he works for PG&E and they have a federal order to finish contracts for inspections on powerlines. Fire season is coming and people are going to be quarantined in home surrounded by outdated lines! Please pray for us that he wasn't exposed to coronavirus and our two babys dont catch it!
It's people like you guys that I look up to. So growth-oriented and willing to share with others what you've learned, while still trying to navigate tough times. I love that you brought up being able to have fun and smile when you do have those tough times in life that we all have. 'How do you get over your son's death?' WOW! Hoping they meant 'how do you get through this tragedy?' Two things immediately come to mind, 'Having God in your life makes the process SO MUCH EASIER! It gives you a totally different perspective on life and death!" All tragedies get 'easier' with time but none of them EVER leave your mind and spirit completely. Also there is the fact that contrary to what some people might think, The Smith's do edit their videos! They can cut stuff out that is too sensitive for them and/or they can leave them in to let others know, you are not alone! God Bless The Smith's and being a mostly 'open book' and sharing your lives!
We are so thankful this is not a GI bug!! Sadly, we are currently quarantined for 14 days. My husband and I traveled to Nashville last week (our 1st vacation without kids 🤣). We actually left and came home early because everyone was getting crazy. My husband was swabbed Sunday - the test finally came back on Tuesday evening (positive). We do not have the “symptoms” the media and cdc say to watch out for. It’s honestly just like a common cold - congestion, sneezing, runny nose, migraine etc. We have not been concerned about it. We are home for 14 days and never “stocked up” - we will get through this! The kids will learn to eat new foods - yay pantry clean out 🤪. I hope you all stay healthy and safe! Glad we have The Smiths to get us through this time ❤️
Will you never get Over IT , I have been asked that as well about both of my sons who have passed away . My first son Tommy was born with Open spin and died at the age of three months . 16 months later along comes our son Matthew , and then 18 months later our Daughter Reatha . Then sadly at the age of 19 Matthew was killed in a accident on our ranch . . What upset me more than anything at the funerals of both , was total strangers coming up to us and saying , OH , I KNOW HOW YOU FEEL .... YOU HAVE NO CLUE HOW I FEEL , ...After Matthews death I hated everyone , I was MAD at GOD and the World .. Even though , through my Faith and my Church , I knew WHY they had been called home ...The one who hurt the most was my Daughter Reatha and I never saw it because I was in my own World . . What a wonderful daughter she is . Her way of dealing with it was to go to school and to work ..Then she moved away to the East Coast from the West coast . It has been 40 years now since Tommy died and 20 years since Matthew died and there has not been a day that has gone by where I start thinking about both of them and break down and Tear up and wonder , What IF . YOU NEVER GET OVER IT , NEVER .. Every time I see your opening with River in it I tear up for you , your Family.... I know as I take my last Breath here on earth , both of my sons will be there to take my hands and walk me through the vial to the other side where we will be a family forever . I hope we can meet face to face one day .. GOD BLESS
