Hi Sue! I'm new at the channel and cause of Los Jaivas. they are from Chile and this song is from 1972. They started during the 60's and are still active. Some members passed away like the vocalist "Gato" Alquinta and the drummer Gabriel Parra, but some family members replace them. Parra was a huge drummer recognized internationally. Their style is folk rock and progressive. Please react to La Poderosa Muerte, Sube a Nacer conmigo Hermano and La Conquistada. Many thanks! Best regards from Chile! 🙂

This song is about a little girl which lose her dad on a cold night... because they were homeless.. the singer saw this on the newspaper and inspired this song... "for the daughter of a man with crystal eyes and newspaper sealed on skin" the man died, so that's crystal eyes, and homeless people when died on street, they cover them with paper, or newspaper.... and that's the sealed body... sad , but beautiful song for the little girl
Following the example of the Woodstock festival, the "Roca Roja" festival was held in Chile. The images are from a live television presentation and also from that festival, as well as other images from Chile in the 70s. Los Jaivas (Hi Bass) are a group that makes Latin American rock-folk music. Still active.

Nice to see you reacting to the Jaivas. This band dates back to 1963 to date. Over time they have replaced some of their members who are no longer with us, such as the drummer who was replaced by his daughter and the vocalist, both already deceased. It is a great group from my country. His most important work is titled Heights of Machu Pichu. It is about the musicalization of the poems of the Chilean Novel Prize Pablo Neruda in honor of this great Inca civilization, discovered in the middle of the mountains in Peru. I'm also surprised to see that you have very good musical tastes. I see very good albums behind you, especially that of Electric Light Orchestra of whom I am a fan, I am referring to the great Out Of The Blue Album. Good to see it though .. Thanks for that Sue.

La referencia a 'la hija de un hombre con ojos de cristal y papel sellado en la piel' podría interpretarse como una metáfora de la vulnerabilidad y la fragilidad de la niñez, así como la posible influencia de la figura paterna en la vida de la niña.
Great reaction! Los Jaivas are turning 61 this year, and they are still around and playing! They are an amazing mix of rock, Chilean folk, folk, psychedelic rock, progressive rock , Andean music, classical music, and more. And such a great song "Mira Niñita", an absolutely classic in Chile. if you have the chance to check "La Conquistada" (original version) could be awesome.
Hey Mauricio, thanks so much. I will give it a listen. I appreciate you tuning in 🤩

Wellcome to the "Jaiverse" my dear friend . This chilean band have plenty of great songs like "Poderosa Muerte", "Aguila Sideral", and the iconic "Sube a Nacer" they were the first and only rock band that ever shot a Video Clip in the old city of Machu Pichu. Greetings from Chile.
Thanks you, Fernando. I appreciate the suggestions. Greetings back to you from me here in Canada 🤩💜

Very heavy on the J …. As an example only ( Hamas ) ( Ba - Hamas) also Chuspa , get the point?… anyway this band is representative of a bigone era therefore much respect. I attended a conccert at Carnegie Hall NYC back in ‘84… Lollapalloza had them as well…

👍👍👍
I feel the same as you, Sue .. It was interesting and different, and the gradual build up in intensity was quite effective .. And yes, the music had an emotional quality to it, even though I didn't know what they were singing about .. But I don't know if I would listen to a lot of this type of thing .. Good to see it though .. Thanks for that Sue.
Yes exactly, Wayne! If course we are on the same page. It is interesting and I was intrigued but not a song I would replay a lot. 🤗💜
