When I first started to watch this, I thought "why not just build a hollow box with MDF and go from there, but as I started to see the arcade cabinet take shape. Man you really have working with a palm router down to a fine art. I like the way you used a piece of aluminum to make a circular template. Very cool. Nice job, well done sir!

    • @DefyingZero
      @DefyingZero 8 ปีที่แล้ว

Hmmmm, really? A tournament edition stick? Not that I own one but try looking up to HORI before you buy it. I have a friend who has a ps4 Madcatz TE2 fight stick Chun li themed, it's good but I own a Real Arcade Pro V3-SA fight stick (ps3) by HORI, modded it a bit so that it has stability on PC. I suggest you look up at HORI before Madcatz, overall, their both not bad on producing the best fight sticks around.

WITCH NEKO Hori has good stick quality, but usually people switch out the buttons for sanwa parts.

    • @DefyingZero
      @DefyingZero 7 ปีที่แล้ว

kratosmaycry My one has Sanwa parts already slapped into it. Just got a Razor arcade stick like 15 days ago. It's more fragile than using it as a stick for tournament, but it has both the Western stick and ball top stick which is a joy.

allsports100 Are you fucking stupid? Wood is a resource we have a limited amount of. I know your mommy and daddy probably probably buy you everything so you dont value things and are wasteful. But believe it or not kid that slab of wood is part of a tree a lumberjack cut down. It is inefficient and costly to waste resources. Especially natural ones

    Just a question:
I got this cheap, chinese-korean wooden arcade stick in the internet for some 30 dollars.
As expected, it is horrible when it comes to playability. Problems include:
    1. Joystick having a lot of friction
    2. Joystick with a *GIANT* dead zone
    3. Buttons having too much depth
    4. Buttons rubbing if pushed to the side
    5. A stuck button
    6. etc.
Now the main reason why I bought this, is because: It's compatible with the PS3, PS2 and PC all at the same time. SF II all the way to SF V and Darkstalkers is available in PS2 and PC, except SFIII New Generation and 2nd Impact.
The main issue I'd like to ask is the button and joystick compatibility. The front panel is about 1 cm thick, and the depth of the inside is 3.5 cm deep. This means limited compatibility if I use those threaded buttons, since they're long as hell.
    So I'd like to ask:
Is it still okay if I use those clip-in buttons that have little depth? They won't exactly go all the way, but will work either way. The greatest danger is falling out, though. Maybe I'll put some thread seal tape to make it tighter.
But, do you know any brands that supply threaded buttons that are short? If you could, please link where I can get them as well...
Thanks a bunch! Sorry if this could be of any trouble to you.

I had to import some odd buttons on akishop and they fit on my virtua stick high grade but now I'm working on a hrap 3 limited edition for PS3. I cant even begin to imagine where I'll find plungers of varying sizes to make the stick feel like my own.

I love the fact it's made from a nice piece of timber rather than shitty stapled/glued MDF. I'm vert tempted to make a 2 player Raspberry Pi unit from a big slab of recycled timber. I'll cheat though, I'll use a CNC router.

Thank you fir sharing ... Only thing is tho... I'd prefer a deeper cupholder and suited to my favorite beer bottle... And I'm pretty sure you can route out straight lines where the steel plate sits underneath... I'll make mine 90% this way

Looks cool.. pretty big thought, but thats personal taste. What electronics you used on this, cause your videos seems to leave out lots of information regarding those.
As maker i have no issue making something like this from wood, but the electronics are the tricky part every time. Could you please widen your explanations when comes to these things, as the frame it self is pretty easy to make and does not need too much of information?

Video only for professionals. A basic home user which want to make his own joy pad has never seen these tools and can't understand wiring procedure and what kind of circuit used. Useless for me and people like me..

With that size, you could add keyboard directionals just above the circle. And would be all in 1.
    Arcade stick/hitbox/keyboard xD

It looks nice, but it's too big for what it does.
A control panel that size would more often be a 2 player dual joystick panel.
And there really isn't much reason to have a cup holder on it. Why not just put the cup on the table? Incorporating a cup holder just forces the whole panel to be larger than necessary.

They should make snap on buttons for thicker material. I had to get those screw on buttons because mine is 3/4 inch thick all around. Good job sir.

Forstner bits won't work? Or even use 1x2's and plywood. Seems like way too much unnecessary router work.

This is painful to watch. This is definitely the hard way to start this project. Making a box would be much more efficient than routing one out of a solid block.

This video is good but there is not enough information for a DIY video. Very disappointing. You could at least gave the dimensions and the type of wood that you use. You have the best video and the best end product but fail with basic DIY information.

  • @neltlen

its so satisfying seeing people so dextrous using a fight stick on a vs game,...i suck at fight sticks, people always beat my ass whenever i try to learn playing alone on arcades, (all of a sudden a challenger who is way older than me, comes around and gets me on a chain combo (mvc series), dicks) so i played most of the time games like these on consoles with friends, made me lose hope in playing in arcades and fight sticks in general when i was a kid XD

I highly recommend building one instead of buying one since you can reuse the parts later if you want, you could also put a raspberry pi inside the box, so you can use it standalone if you wanted to (optional).
