That's right, @erinnibley2508. Increasing proprioceptive input can be helpful for the nervous system in a variety of situations. For Temple Grandin's particular nervous system, which is affected by Autism, she gravitated intuitively to what her system needed - more proprioceptive input. Often our system can give us clues as to what it needs.
i feel calmer after hugging myself as i watched this. when my arms got tired i focused on feeling the warmth and pressure of my palms on my side and arm. thank you for the explanation of the se modality - releasing trauma without reliving it would help so many.
Thank you for reaffirming this self hug for me because I occasionally practice it, now I will practice it more regularly for now I know I don’t have to wait for hugs that may not be coming anytime soon😂
