I haven't seen lyrics that I loved as much as these in all my life.This said, it seems to me their lyrics which were produced after his departure were almost all a call for him coming back (which I think adds a very sad air to their songs of a personal matter),Especially their last songs(bsides!).Now they'll end with the las lyrics he left them:Journal for Plagued lovers. They've given up.That's what I am perceiving.

That is hauntingly good. Not many frontmen can perform like that live, and if you're wondering why he fucks up the words, try playing the guitar like that whilst singing. Bono is a )self-righteous prick by the way.
In a recent interview they were talking about doing a completely different album after Journal for plague lovers. They still got the ambition to do something after this, something different again just like what the clash did. Hope no reggae.
