- DeSoto Falls is the best waterfall in all of Alabama in our opinion and one of the best hikes down to a waterfall that we have ever done, one of Alabama's best attractions within DeSoto State Park.
The hike down to the bottom of the falls is incredible but a bit hard to find. There is a small cleared area about a quarter mile before you get to the main parking area for DeSoto Falls on your right under some power lines, just as you come around a curve in the road. You will find the trail there!

TY so much!!
I visited that Falls when I was a child. Haven't been back, but we're going to visit it in a year or so.
I was very impressed w this waterfall and the hike down to the bottom is great!
I lived close by in the’70s. There are Water Moccasins and Copperheads , but the Falls are beautiful. It was my swimming spot while I lived there.
Great memories!!!
Beautiful! Love it there! Looking forward to my next visit. Never hiked down to the bottom though. Might have to check it out.
Thanks for sharing this video!
Yes you will love the hike down to the bottom!!

Looks awesome guys.
TY so much!!
I have watched a lot of videos before we have traveled over the years, and this was a great video. Suggestion for the next video, showing it on the map would also be helpful. Love that you gave us an idea of how long the hike was, signs along the hike, and the level of the hike. You put the hike together very well on the video. It wasn’t to long but gave us an idea of what to expect. We can’t wait to explore this hike to the water fall.
So glad you enjoyed it, thank you for your kind feedback!! Let us know if you end up getting to check it out!!
amazing..
Thank You Sharon!!!

You're in my neck of the woods now. We're 45 min from there. Love camping at Destoto SP
So beautiful there!!
@@CampTravelExplore yes it is. I hope you visited Little River Canyon too
Little River Falls are very nice when full, but it’s totally dependent on rainfall, so check it out from November through April.
TY for that, will put it on our list!!!
thanks for the video! Can you walk from the campground to the falls?
I would say no, its more of a short drive away, more than a mile I believe. This was one of my favorite hikes ever!
Beautiful video, Tom! Can't improve much on the description and the videography!
Thanks Randy! It was a great day, did you like how I am getting more fam shots in? lol, learning from you!!
@@CampTravelExplore Yeah, it was great! Actually have a quick question for you. Will try to give you a ring.
While not quite a spectacular as Dosoto Falls, the Noccalula Falls in the City of Gadsden Alabama is 90 foot over a rock shelf and a nice pool underneath. Located in a City owned park and adjacent to a city owned campground, well worth the visit also. You can also hike to the bottom of the falls at Noccalula. www.noccalulafallspark.com/
Looks nice! TY for the info!
I agree it is one of the best. Not sure about the best. Many in Bank head are beautiful. Noccalula Falls is beautiful but I agree DeSoto Falls is more beautiful.
I believe there is a small cave near there as well
Hey Craig, yes there was a split off on the trail we were on that took you to it, if i am talking about the one you are thinking of? Not by the waters edge, but up pretty early on in the hike, does that sound right?
I think its Falling Rock Falls in Shelby County. Actuality all of them are awesome. There is no best.
Do you think this and the other trip to Georgia could be handled with a 2 year old?
It would be a little challenging if you were trying all of the hiking you are seeing, but certainly doable if you are ok carrying the little one in parts! It is beautiful there!!!
How deep is the swimming area down below
not sure on that as we just hiked to it and did not swim
Hows the water temperature?
guessing it was in the 78 degree range
Can you fish it ?
Didnt see anyone fishing there, but don't see why not
Is swimming allowed here?
I believe so, I did see some doing it in other videos when I researched going there.
wonder if anybody has jumped
They have some rails up now as I have heard that they have had issues with some jumpers and it didn't end well from what we have heard.
Swimming there?
I saw a small beach area to get in from, but no one was swimming the day we were there, so we can't say for sure
You wouldn’t believe how many people die there every year..In fact someone from Florida was killed today!
Brandon What, omg how did it happen?
CampTravelExplore Drownings, and sometimes people hit their heads..Today the guy drowned..
Brandon Wow that’s awful
Are pets allowed?
Look like a sinkhole
Yeah I guess it kind of does, hadn't thought of that before!
Please stop playing that terrible music you don't need it
Working on acoustic tracks for future videos! TY for the feedback!
Great video
Thank You so much!! We loved the hike down to the bottom!!
