The Ty series is so fun, even if it's super corny. Also, the Sonic inspirations were obvious, but despite being a huge sonic fan as a kid, I only noticed them once I revisited these games in high school.
I feel like it being overly-corny is the point. After all, it is filled with Australian stereotypes despite being made in Australia, so it’s safe to assume basically everything is exaggerated for comedic affect... including Sly. I’m pretty sure he’s definitely a parody of some kind. Then again, maybe I’m wrong. Just to me it seemed all the goofiness in this game was intentional, it is pretty self-aware at times.
I just realized where Ty keeps all his boomerangs, he keeps them in his pouch. That's right, male Tasmanian Tigers are one of the only two marsupials where both genders have pouches. Also fun fact Shazza, a Dingo, would be the natural enemy of the Tasmanian Tiger, they are said to have contributed to their extinction.

The part when the seahorse speaks French really bothered me as well. Heck, Rex starts speaking French too if you talk to him again before you go find Elle.
I played this when it first came out, but forgot about it for years till I saw on steam that it was remastered, bought and played it again...and lemme tell ya I remember this game being long, but instead I beat it after a couple of hours ;-; still a good game to just relive some childhood memories. Update: I think at 5:12 is a Gamecube exclusive audio error. I didn't encounter this on the PS2 version, though I haven't seen the Xbox version. Mostly, all versions of the HD release has it patched out
you forgot the sin of Maurie having the incorrect arrangement of toes; he's a cockatoo so he should have zygodactyl feet even funnier because they gave Julius four thumbs, which is accurate for koalas
I always assumed Ty just like, tied a rope around his first Boomerang to make it a Lassorang. And as for Lenny, why WAS he leading Ty to Sly? It's never really established how or why, or even if, he's working for Boss Cass. Heck for all we know maybe he was threatened to lead Ty to where Sly is and lying is his attempt to try and lead Ty somewhere else.
11:58 - I literally didn't know about that strategy before seeing this video. Also, without that strategy, Sly is actually a pretty tense challenge. That said, I would still prefer to not use that strategy in the future, because it takes all the fun out of this fight.
For anyone new to the Ty games, the reason Fluffy's dialog seems out of place is because in the original game she didn't say anything, she just did the finger across the throat and Power Ranger jumped away; it was probably added because after Ty 3 Fluffy became the fan favorite of this series. Also the whole french thing is some type of screw up cause that wasn't in the original. Also the whole Cy scene at the end didn't exist in the original either. And then Sly says Boss Cass lied to him it's implied thoughout the game that Boss Cass took in Sly and raised him as his own telling Sly that Ty or the Bunyips were behind the other tasmanian tigers getting sentenced to the Dreaming. Explanations aside this video was hilarious and amazing, and I'm so glad Krome Studios and Ty are finally getting the popularity and recognition they deserve, now to cross my fingers for a proper Ty 4.
Guess I never 100% the game as a kid, but with Ty 2 if you play the gameboy advance version it definitely shows more of what Krome Studios wanted to do to the point of having Cy as a main boss fight, and Red betraying Burramudgee, Krome's original idea for Ty 2 was to involve time travel hence the dinosaurs, aliens, and androids all existing together, but I think they changed up the game concept because they thought it would be too convoluted, which could be why they had to cut content from the final version of the game. Also with Fluffy I don't remember her saying anything at all, but I played the gamecube version so it might have been different, or I could just have a bad memory; still Fluffy is the best character.
Yeah, on gba there was a whole thing about Red giving Boss Cass access to Burramudgee and that's how they kidnapped the entire town, but Red was tricked similar to how Boss Cass tricked Sly; it definitely added a lot of depth to a character that the console version never really said a lot about, especially since the first time you see Red you save him from falling to his death. And yes, Fluffy coming back would be the best plot to a new Ty game ever, Ty 3 sealed her as the best character ever and the ending makes me upset every time I play it! Now hopefully with the remastered games Krome Studios will have the budget to make a proper new game without any restrictions!
You didn't mention that Julius "sleeps" with his eyes wide open, especially when you see him "fall asleep" after looking at him for a while from far away?
Actually PK out of the shadows had a similar concept of remote-controlling a weapon that you used throughout the game and steering it through a path like that and was released four days earlier than Ty
God, this game was my childhood! I played the second one a whole lot more, but looking back on it, I might like the original more just because I like collect-a-thons. Unfortunately my PS2 copy is too scratched to read anymore, but I've been thinking of picking it up on Steam soon.
