I really liked murderbot, but that thing is scary! 7 D 6 damage for his poison darts, and sleep darts that don't require spell slots. and it was sentient! If the thing had gone haywire or got charmed the team would have been in deep!

It's kinda scary that people are mad at Diath for "killing" Simon. I mean I'm sad too, but it was Chris who "did it", really it was the Earth Elemental. Also don't forget Strix hated him too, so I'm excited for next week when we maybe have some spicy party drama :D #TeamDiath
SPOILERS - It would be cool if Evelyn could try to stay near her allies to tank hits and heal instead of flying away. I love Anna's RP, but one thing I disagree on is I think Evelyn would be more protective of the other party members than herself, she is too good-hearted to allow others to be hurt when she could prevent it easily by standing near them. Just my opinion. Awesome ep!
Nemo The only reason she was away was because she initiated the combat and everyone spread out. Strix moved too far away and fucked up, Paultin moved too far away but did good, and Diath didn't need help.
Eh, they should all stick together more in combat. She could have followed one of them. The reason I focus on Evelyn and not the others is that she has more responsibility as the healer AND the tank AND her character's personality is nurturing and caring and brave. Evelyn needs to be near her allies for them to survive, even if she needs to follow them when she doesn't want to. If Stryx runs away and hides I don't bat an eye, lol, because that's her personality and she is frail.
It's kind of hard to be in 3 places at once though. She acted on her protective, caring, and brave traits when she initiated combat against a priestess committing an injustice. After that, everyone else did their own thing. At that point, she would have to either continue drawing aggro from that priestess or try to protect one of the three from dangers they haven't seen yet. The only time she could've done something was when Paultin was in danger. That's about it. Strix got obliterated too fast to save, Diath was fine, and there was only one turn when Evelyn would've helped Paultin, but he was too far away anyway.
Evelyn had nothing to do with the problems they encountered. Strix pulled aggro on the chief's group, taking them off Harshnag and back onto the main crew. It's basic strategy; don't fight two encounters at once.
Been way behind lately I'm almost done catching up just a little more binge watching to go. I went back and revisited the first episode and wow what a long way the group has come.
There are times rewatching this that I want to say to them that things will get better, I mean they get many times worse first but they get better eventually

I'm disappointed that Nate is going to be gone next week, just because this is going to be so dramatic, but I'm also looking forward to seeing what Perkins pulls having full control of a rage-filled Paultin. Well then, for your benefit (and any others who are interested)... MURDERBOT ORIGIN SPOILERS BELOW (AS WELL AS FOR THE EPISODE) So it all started way back before Strahd was even a vampire. There was a duchess who would visit his court occasionally, always accompanied by her jester, a man named Pidlwick. Strahd wasn't amused much by him, but Tatyana (his lost love, if you recall) adored him and his jokes. As a gift, the duchess commissioned a legendary toymaker named Fritz von Weerg to create a mechanical copy of Pidlwick to be in their court always. Unfortunately, the toy, christened Pidlwick II (Simon's true name), didn't have the jester's skills. Also, von Weerg was not the most stable individual, and all of his creations shared a bit of his madness. Eventually, a winter came and trapped Strahd's family along with both Pidlwicks in their castle for several months. Pidlwick II/Simon, resentful of the original, found him while he was alone and pushed him down a flight of stairs and killed him. Everyone assumed it was an accident. Following that, Pidlwick II was largely ignored by everyone in the castle, but would occasionally murder guests in their sleep. Strahd (as Strahd does) eventually caught on and basically decided to keep it around to dispose of people if need be. No idea how Luvash and the Vistani got their hands on it, but they were working for Strahd. In terms of personality, you could pretty much gather that from Simon's actions. His main goal in life was to find someone who enjoyed his company and wasn't afraid of him. And his evil nature mainly manifested as pettiness-- resorting to murder over slights (like the kid spitting on him). Funnily enough, the fact that Paultin actually befriended him may have been reforming him. Would he have eventually tried to kill Diath regardless? Who knows? The uncertainty will just make Waffle Crew: Civil War all the more interesting.
Poor Murderbot/Simon. He was one of most colorful characters in the series. Was there an NPC with more character in the previous season or this one? I can't think of one.
Really. The silent puppet apparently tops Dee, Van Richten, Falcon, Esmeralda, Zag, Escher and Emil? I mean, let's be honest, while Murderbot was fun to have around, that was only due to the conflict he caused, so basically he didn't really do anything and rather acted as a catalyst. In the end, I think he was more of a mcguffin than an actual character.
Nope. For me it's murderbot all the way. The other characters were nice, but murderbot was the most fun and stands out from the rest. His being silent adds a lot. He had to express himself through his actions, and Perkins did a great job at that.
Artistically No1 I'm also all for interparty conflict. As much as I love everyone's sense of friendship, tension between characters has so much potential for good storytelling. It's especially good when both sides have a point. Simon would have killed Diath and was a threat to him and Strix, and is also Paultin's son and a great help to him and Evelyn.
Spoilers @ 1:27:40 Evelyn cast Blessed on Harshnag and i thought he had a +4 to rolls and what not when he took the cliff dive @ 1:32:40. Did that not count as a saving/attack roll?
Nope, it helps saving throws and attacks made by the person blessed. The attacks that hit Harshnag at the end were VS Armor Class, which doesn't count as a saving throw.
Strix causing the chieftain's treasure hut to be set set on fire was insane. She is always so afraid of things, why would she instigate a indiscriminately hazardous action.
Chris made the common mistake here... According to the PHB page 197, "whenever you start your turn with 0 hit points" so the death save occurs as the very FIRST event on a turn, which means someone who natural 20s on a death save wakes up with 1 hit point and has their entire turn available to them, actions, movement, reactions, bonus actions, anything that applies.

Markus It isn't an aura. It is a fighting style. It requires her to get within 5ft of the attacking creature or the party member being attacked. I forget which but I don't think she was that close to either at the time.

Why is it Diath's fault? He didn't like Simon, but he didn't do anything to provoke him. The worst he did was try to nay-say him coming along and celebrating his death.
SalmonAndSoup seriously, everyone's so mad at Diath, who had nothing to do with the death of a robot they were told was evil, the same robot who shot, not only a random child, but also Strix, both for no real reason. Don't blame Diath for being happy that creepy as heck robot isn't something they'll have to watch out for anymore.

A mechanic my new players pick up after 2 sessions... I mean, let's be honest, while Murderbot was fun to have around, that was only due to the conflict he caused, so basically he didn't really do anything and rather acted as a catalyst.
In the end, I think he was more of a mcguffin than an actual character.
Nope. For me it's murderbot all the way.
The other characters were nice, but murderbot was the most fun and stands out from the rest.
His being silent adds a lot. He had to express himself through his actions, and Perkins did a great job at that.
Ok, Mordenkainen pulls a close second in my opinion.

Artistically No1 I'm also all for interparty conflict. As much as I love everyone's sense of friendship, tension between characters has so much potential for good storytelling. It's especially good when both sides have a point. Simon would have killed Diath and was a threat to him and Strix, and is also Paultin's son and a great help to him and Evelyn.
Diath literally had nothing to do with it though.

@ 1:27:40 Evelyn cast Blessed on Harshnag and i thought he had a +4 to rolls and what not when he took the cliff dive @ 1:32:40. Did that not count as a saving/attack roll?
Skill Checks are not saving rolls nor attack rolls.

Nope, it helps saving throws and attacks made by the person blessed. The attacks that hit Harshnag at the end were VS Armor Class, which doesn't count as a saving throw.

According to the PHB page 197, "whenever you start your turn with 0 hit points" so the death save occurs as the very FIRST event on a turn, which means someone who natural 20s on a death save wakes up with 1 hit point and has their entire turn available to them, actions, movement, reactions, bonus actions, anything that applies.

Markus It isn't an aura. It is a fighting style. It requires her to get within 5ft of the attacking creature or the party member being attacked. I forget which but I don't think she was that close to either at the time.

Why is it Diath's fault? He didn't like Simon, but he didn't do anything to provoke him. The worst he did was try to nay-say him coming along and celebrating his death.
SalmonAndSoup seriously, everyone's so mad at Diath, who had nothing to do with the death of a robot they were told was evil, the same robot who shot, not only a random child, but also Strix, both for no real reason. Don't blame Diath for being happy that creepy as heck robot isn't something they'll have to watch out for anymore.

And as for the kid, it spit on him so he killed the kid because he looked like a threat to Arabelle. If not, then he was from bad origins, it's not his fault it's all he knew
