This is by far the most passionate live performance of this song that I’ve ever seen. This was when TGA was first gaining nationwide exposure, probably one of their first “big performances”. You can just tell it was a dream come true for these guys to play on Letterman.
100% agree. They had such a fire in them, especially Brian. I saw them in this era and the show was like a religious experience. From American Slang onwards whenever I saw them, it was never quite the same
Letterman shakes hands with Benny Horowtiz as he walks from his drum kit holding a pair of drumsticks and asks him, "What are you, the drummer? Good." Love it.
So I used to think letterman was a totally insincere dbag when he talks to the bands…. Turns out hes actually a drummer and usually goes and talks to the drummer specifically
I heard this song so many years ago and it gave me goosebumps. Today I hear this song and it’s like hearing it again for the first time through a new set of ears and a different kind of goosebumps 😢. “My God that was good!”
They really are a terrific rock and roll band.
I can watch this performance daily for the rest of my life - simply incredible
An absolutely PERFECT performance of an absolutely PERFECT song from an absolutely PERFECT album by an absolutely NEAR PERFECT band.

Love it!
True words! This was the first time I heard them and it hit me instantly. Up to today, a decade after, this performance is still pretty awesome!
The one with Bruce is pretty sick too.

Letterman's reaction is classic! True rock and roll does that to people
