I can relate I deal with depression and more so since it’s winter and the rain just makes it worst, but I’m taking it one day at a time I haven’t washed my hair for about 3 weeks so you are not alone but we will get through it the best we can sometimes though we just have to push ourselves.

5 weeks without washing it .... Girl, being a new mommy really puts another perspective on your priorities . Your hair looks amazing and so do you . Give yourself some slack and be more gentle and patient with yourself. Congrats 🎉🎉 on your newborn baby 🐥🍼 Btw, quick tip for new mommy : put some aloe Vera gel into your hair and let it sit all day while you do your chores before the baby wakes up or needs food and in the evening you just wash with with hot /warm water . It cleans your hair good, nourish it and prevents tangle . A quick washing / condition hair you can do once a weak until you have time for a full pamper routine 😉😉😉 New mommies need to take care of themselves too 😘🤗

Aloe is very awesome for dandruff relief, but I highly recommend scratching scalp before washing it out if possible.
Then, if you are like me, and cannot grease, oil, serum, or cream due to eczema ( mine is keratosis pilaris), the aloe is moisturizing enough. Well, for me it is, where I do not miss any post-wash products, including leave-in conditioner. Put anything in my hair after wash, I will tear off my scalp and cannot last a week without wash. I had to stop taking Benadryl for scalp itching due to I was going through bad memory loss in my early 40s ( I am now pushing 47 ). I regained some memory after stopping the Benadryl, but there is still some long-term and short-term memory damage.
I went to my paternal uncle's funeral Thanksgiving weekend '17, and there were relatives I know really well, but I forgot their names. I even mistaken a couple ladies for their late moms.
I found out about aloe, I think Blossom channel, the one that is similar to 5 Minute Crafts. At first, I did not take it seriously, but tried it anyway. Glad I did. It was good enough on its own, but a couple months later broke down and got Head & Shoulder 2-in-1 in addition to using aloe.

Girl, I'm caring for a parent with renal disease, and I hadn't combed my hair since Mayr. I gave myself grace and sat in a tub for 3 hours and slowly detangled my hair. You helped me because you introduced the pre-poo to me. It helped me so much. Took the fear away. Took the pain away. And I didn't become upset with the shed hair because it's normal.

Girrrrl....I feel ya...adjusting to a new baby is challenging, and motherhood with all of the changes and expectations can definitely bring on depression or feelings of every day being the same monotonous series of chores. No time for ourselves.
My natural hair got to bra strap length, after I had my twins via c-section I would go for days without or weeks without detangling, got matted, took forever to detangle, I just didn't have time to take care of myself or my hair anymore with having to be the major caretaker for the twins all on my own. I caved and decided to relax my hair, which I regret, did the big chop 4 months ago. My twins are 9 now, so I do have more time for myself even though I have a 4 year old too. I love that you are still natural. You are doing a wonderful job as a momma Amber!

Will always appreciate you teaching about the LCO method years back when everyone else was going on about the LOC. It was an instant game changer for me. Much love

First of all congratulations on your new addition. Second, whenever i tune into your videos i have NEVER seen your hair look bad bc it is soooo beautiful, thick and luxurious-just absolutely gorgeous. Even with the matting. Girrrrrrl🤩
    it was still beautiful.
I lost a lot of my density after a lot of stress some years ago. My hair had ALWAYS been thick so i get that detangling was a monster. I understand a teensy bit how it felt being at an emotional low point. But the fact that you are taking time with yourself is a good sign. A step/a day at a time🙏🏽

Way to go mom! The best part of this was you choosing to honor your true feelings by putting your hair in a bun. Good on you! Your baby is beautiful, you are beautiful! And thanks for sharing!

I literally can’t wait to be a mom one day! And seeing how much you love and cherish your child even though you struggle just shows me how being a mother might not be easy and it can be hard to focus on yourself but I can just imagine how the reward will be so much greater. Keep going mamma and know that you are incredible and beautiful and that you will continue to be the best mother to your baby!! ❤️

The way your face lit up some when you saw your washed hair was it for me. ❤Absolutely gorgeous momma and congratulations!!! I wish you the best. I haven't had children/can't conceive, and I know I don't have a place to say anything related to motherhood, but I suffer from pretty intense mental illnesses that incapacitate me sometimes and I agree with everyone here saying to be kind to yourself and give yourself grace. You carried a life in you and that's amazing. Take as many little 'me' moments as you can and carry them with you when you feel like you're going down mentally. It will always be a light to guide you back to present. You got this.

I had a newborn when my toddler was 2 and a half. The struggle is real! I had to take time away from work (also Mompreneur) to rest mentally and emotionally. And yes, any little self-care helps so so much. I'm glad you're being gentle with yourself and giving yourself time to do things. Congrats on new baby! You seem like a good Mom and a great woman!

Hey, I havent seen your content in a while but I can totally relate to this phase. I'm surprised you could even still detangle your hair. Mine got so matted and tangled after months of neglect. I was tired, lazy, and feeling down post partum and hair was the last thing on the list. I recovered from that thankfully. Thanks for sharing the reality though with new moms who may need to see this for reassurance.

I completely understand what you were going through! I have long natural hair as well. And I’m a mom to a 3 year old, soon to be 2 year old, and I’m pregnant with our 3rd. It’s always 4-6 weeks before I wash my hair. I’ve found that if I leave it curly it’s a tangled mess so now I blow dry it out after washing and I have minimal to no tangles at 4-6 weeks. Hang in there mama you got this!

You are doing the best with your current life. Dont ever think you have to do more to make people happy. There were weeks i couldn not properly care for me after I had her.
