They haven't even got the ribbon band correct from the movie. This is just an attempt to exploit the bond brand. They need to put a screen accurate version out!
Had the opportunity to visit Lock & Co. this summer. They were awesome and told me about their history and alignment with ION Productions over the decades. Bought the Oddjob hat while there and will be wearing it to my daughter’s wedding! Unfortunately, I was there just prior to the Stoke being available but they did show me renderings and of course shared the history behind it. Definitely, worth a visit while in London!
Very cool hat, and the type I have hunted for for many years. Never found the exact match. One thing to watch for, does it fade in the sun? Most of my dark Panamas have lightened over years to a dull gray. Keep us posted.
Thanks for the video, always good. But one thing I’ve wondered about for a while regarding your private museum is who maintains the upkeep; who’s keeping it dust free? Because that must be a helluva job
Hi from England David You and your wife are so lucky to own Locke & Co brand and so iconic from "GOLDFINGER" My favourite is From Russia with Love for lots of reasons over Goldfinger. You mention also the Penfold Golf Balls The factory until the late 1990's was located around 15 minutes away from were i live. I used to drive past it every date to work from 1982. Everyone knew Penfold -it was such an iconic brand and still is today. Also my local village shopping area had a local outfitters and his name was Mr Hunter. He had the shop from the late 40's to to the early 80's and he had a large stock of hats and they were all in boxes. I would have loved just the empty boxes. And Sean would look good in any hat
Great video David, had been waiting for this one. Glad you did the comparison to the Palm Springs, as wasn’t able to get one before that model was discontinued. The new version is (I think) approx £200 more than the Palm Springs, which gives me pause, but it really is great looking, and suits you, the new band makes it much more versatile I would say.
How can they claim authenticity when the band is clearly the wrong colour? Doesn't match the photo that you posted of the film. Your hat in the background looks closer to the original.
I would love to wear a hat like that playing golf. It truly is unique and better than wearing a baseball cap, the standard on the links. Adds a touch of class and would look great while I take a swing off the tee.
Of course David already fancied a trip to the sports/golf/leisure estate - Stoke Park in Buckinghamshire ALBION 🤔 Interesting game between "James Bond" Sean Connery & "Auric Goldfinger" Gert Fröbe (1964 Goldfinger - Stoke Park Buckinghamshire GB). Slazenger versus Penfold Hearts #Golfball
Interesting pork pie crown Panama hat with thick weave and leather sweat band…..I have a Borsalino black Panama hat and put it through a long hot summer last year and started to shed its black colour in parts so watch out for the colour if you wear it a lot…..no comment on the price as that’s not the point…..I buy my hats from Fernandez y Roche in Sevilla Spain and excellent value for money in my opinion…..a different cut to Borsalino and Locke and Co of course…..put a clothes steamer to it to re shape it if need be and to moisten it
If I was Lord of Everything Bond, I'd bring back the hat in the next iteration of Bond. Hats have made a big comeback in men's fashion. Hipsters are hip to the hats. I wear a hat. I want to see hat representation fill the spaces where the hatless patriarchy has dominated for far too long. #FreeTheHat
There's a few things wrong with this hat, i) the band is the wrong colour but ii) to my eyes the brim is too large. Bond's hat has a small brim and is what in the UK we'd call a 'Pork-pie' hat, not a fedora.
That new ribbon is a real eye sore. I understand going your own way, if you have a brilliant idea for how to update a classic garment, but if you don't have any good new ideas, why change it? It's just ugly.

Absolutely a stunning piece!! I was considering in buying and expanding my hat wear, this might well end up in my whist list!

I recall a Penfolds factory near Acocks Green/Hall Green in Birmingham in the 1990s, seen from the 11 circular bus route. Is this the same one?
@@markymark2819 yes it moved from Bromford Lane Ward End to Acocks Green in the late 90’s
🏴🏴😍😍👍

what polo shirt are you wearing ??
He said it was the NPeal one, would guess that it’s the 007 Goldfinger one that the do, which really is beautiful in hand.
Very nice hat. I would wear that in the fall for golf.
Great work, David!
You have the world’s best James Bond collection David 👍
The blue cap you purchased in London, was that a flap cap? Thank you
It’s a great buying experience buying bond material - EON should sign off on packaging
Can you get the gloves Sean wears in the film ?
Use a little steam to shape the brim. Great hat and video!
nice to back to 60s david like bond back to the future 😁

If it was screen accurate I would be buying without a 2nd thought
looks beautiful.
Lock & Co also features in the Kingman films. #themoreyouknow ☺️

My problem also, slowly gets lighter color over time.
For the cost I would prefer an exact copy of the original.
A rating of 5 Gold Bars for this most excellent 'James Bond' hat !
How come when odd job cuts the head of the statue it has a metal rim then the rest of the film there’s not one
It’s there again though at the end though isn’t it? Where it gets stuck in the metal bars enabling the electrocution to work
I wear a 7 5/8. That’s BIG!

Saucey read!😄
The strict rules of golf..
Does it come with a free bowl of soup?
We’re all gonna get laid!!
A Panama, or a fedora?

Its a bit to niche for me...its nice though
£445 for a straw hat? No thanks.
Looks a bit out of place in 2022
You should just call your self James Bond, what with everything you have :)
But does he have a license to kill?
Takes more than a collection of props to be the man.
@@thomasmulhall4873 maybe, but he's the closets he's got out of any of the super hard fans :)
