I believe it's stated in the first film that someone (Jason's mom) "poisoned" the water in the 60's to prevent the camp from opening. Maybe the chemicals respond to fear and that's why only victims get the visions and not everyone else. I know it's reaching but it's as realistic as anything else in the films.
The reason she has a head is that the myth of them killing people has changed so she wouldn’t know her head was ever gone. It’s world building. Adds to what we see and what the world of the film knows.

Parts 2-4 happen within 6 days in film series timeline. Part 4 is the culmination of first four films and the end of "human" jason. I like that Jason's kills are more creative than Michael's, who just uses kitchen knife to slit throats over and over. Jason uses whatever implement closest at hand and gets creative with it.
Part 4 and Part 6 are definitely the best ones, actually enjoyable characters and fun kills, Jason seems a lot more indestructible in those ones as well✨✨
Richard Brooker was amazing as Jason in Friday the 13th Part 3 in 3-D and it's one of the best 3-D horror movies back in the good old school days of horror cinema. RIP Richard Brooker.

As a massive fan of the franchise, you guys get the rating bang on here: it's better than Part 2. However, it would be a crying shame if you stopped here as the fourth movie ("The Final Chapter") really does set itself apart: the story is unique, there's an added vulnerability to the characters, and Jason is noticeably *much* more sinister (a trend which continues as the movies go on). After that, the series takes somewhat of a different turn, but most fans acknowledge Part VI (they'd switched to Roman numerals by this point 😂) as the best sequel of all, so it's definitely worth sticking with it at least until then! And I'm with VierasTalo: as with the classic Prom Night (1980), my FAVOURITE slashers are the ones that feature disco music! Literally why I chose my username! Something about the juxtaposition of brutal deaths and colourful feel-good beats :-)
I really appreciate how these guys can give the same thorough analysis to "Friday the 13th: Part 3" that they gave to "2001: A Space Odyssey." It's the balance of art and trash that makes this a fun channel.
This is one of my favorite Friday flicks. I saw this at theater in 3-D & when Jason shows up for the 1st time wearing the hocky mask & nails that girl in the eye with the spear gun, the crowd went crazy cheering for that scene! The spear looked like it was coming right at you

You know, Amy Steel from the last movie, Rachel Howard who plays Chili in this movie AND Barbara Howard who plays Sara in the next movie all became psychologists after they appeared in a Friday The 13th movie.
2009 Was awesome, but it took a few viewings to soak it all in. It has everything you want in a Friday the 13th movie and then some. People just wanted to hate it because of Michael Bay. It's actually pretty good and holds up well.
Part 6 is my favourite - it's kinda gory, it's also super camp and self aware, has some of my favourite characters and Jason looks his most badass. Part 7 probably has my favourite Jason though
Only do I consider this film the best in the franchise? The photography, the setting, the script, the soundtrack and the story of the protagonist convey much more seriousness and detail, being much more attractive, captivating and really a subject than the other films in the franchise. Although Jason's appearance is totally out of chronology (since the story of 3 is an immediate continuation of 2), he is the darkest Jason, even in form, and has the most well-developed and terrifying chase sequence I've ever seen. It's my favorite movie. ☺
They released this film 3D, during the time the 80's were trying re invigorate the 3D movies of the 50's. There was Jaws 3D, Amityville 3D, This, and many others

This is where it all started for me, friday the 13th part 3 when I was aged 9, got so shit scared I had to turn it off. Ever since then I've been hooked on horror, and especially friday the 13th.

Part 4 is the best movie of the entire franchise. Part 6 is probably the 2nd best and gives the franchise a well needed shot of adrenaline. Also, Part 5 is a guilty pleasure because it's by far the sleaziest/trashiest movie of the franchise.
Fun fact : the barn still exists. Part 3 is my favourite because it’s the birth of the iconic Jason image. I remember seeing this in 3D when it was originally released,it was fun even though all the 3D shots were obvious
Jason's growth and transformation throughout the series is great. Even if the plots are extremely repetitive, they're still fun films to watch. Part VII has always been my favorite of the series. The look that Jason has, coupled with Kane Hodder's performance, will never be topped.

tbh anytime i rewatched this movie the whole everyone going into the barn to die reminded me of the Hinterkaifeck farm murders where all the family members were somehow according to the story, mysteriously lured into the barn and killed one by one but never solved
The next movie is honestly the first really good one. The first three have a lot of good moments but are mixed bags otherwise. Part IV really feels like the complete package, and along with part VI you get a better picture of why people love the series so much.
There's a film called 'behind the mask ' which is a pseudo comedy documentary which follows a masked serial killer around as he prepares a murderous spree. I think you guys might appreciate it.

When we were young, going to the movies was one of the few escapes from home. Going to the movies with a bunch of friends, maybe even a double-feature, was a great time - we would all have a great time laughing at the kills and the craziness of the slasher flicks, no one took them serious.
Tom is so wholesome, and I can tell Shaun likes to mess with that a bit. That part where Tom is like, "It's in your contract not to wear a bra." It's a staple of 80s horror movies to have T&A constantly in them. It was the late 90s and 2000s that made horror more PG.
Friday 4 and 6 may be the two best in the series. You don't have to watch 5, it's a bit of an offshoot from the main storyline and can be skipped without losing anything. I hope you guys check out 4 and 6 though.
Friday the 13th films focus on Jason's development throughout. You see Jason change throughout like the different injuries he gets from the characters.
Part 7 "Jason takes New York" is worth a watch and my favourite, part 10 "Jason X" when Jason wakes up hundreds of years in the future after being cryogenically frozen, and proceeds to massacre a bunch of people on a space station are great fun.
Are you kidding? He didn't get to NYC. whole movie was on a boat and it was boring as well. They get to New York only at the end and it's filmed in Vancouver!
Larry Zerner who played Shelly. He got the part out of shear luck. As a struggling actor/comedian was approached by someone asking if he wanted to be in a movie. He said yes and the rest is history.
I can't wait for you guys to watch The 4th! Its my favorite one of the series personally. Kane Holder though brings alot of life to Jason in the later films, plus he has a scene that at the time held the record for "Longest person on fire". Keep up with the series guys!
Part 4 and part 6 are my favourites, part 4 has some of the best practical gore effects and most sinister version of Jason. Part 6 is so self aware and introduces zombie Jason, I’m even a fan of part 5 🤷🏻♂️
Somebody's probably already mentioned this, but Jason's "baghead" look from the second film was scrapped mostly because of "The Elephant Man," which was released just before part two. It was pretty much impossible for audiences at the time to look at Jason and not think about John Merrick. The hockey mask, apparently, was introduced because someone working on part three just happened to have one and the director liked the look.
The ending of the 2nd and 3rd movies are dream sequences.. That’s why Jason is still on the shack floor at the beginning of the 3rd... he never came through the window at the end of 2, it was a dream. Pamela is the lady in the lake. The 3rd is suppose to happen the next few days after the 2nd... there are so many continuity errors in the Friday the 13th movies but.. growing up on these movies... I didn’t care.. I love Em! Can’t wait to see your reaction to part 4, one of my favorites of the series!
Part 6 is a personal fav, CJ Graham was a great Jason I really hope you both get round to watching them all as they do get progressively more entertaining and wacky

It's also confusing because as far as we know, The Final Girl doesn't know anything about Jason's mom.

Only do I consider this film the best in the franchise? The photography, the setting, the script, the soundtrack and the story of the protagonist convey much more seriousness and detail, being much more attractive, captivating and really a subject than the other films in the franchise.
Although Jason's appearance is totally out of chronology (since the story of 3 is an immediate continuation of 2), he is the darkest Jason, even in form, and has the most well-developed and terrifying chase sequence I've ever seen.
It's my favorite movie. ☺
They released this film 3D, during the time the 80's were trying re invigorate the 3D movies of the 50's. There was Jaws 3D, Amityville 3D, This, and many others

@@baneofxistance4813 The supernatural aspect I think is what appeals to people just on side note I didn't realize for part 7 until later that all the injuries Jason suffered was in cooperated in his design with the mask removed.
I like Part 7 it can almost be viewed as a stand alone horror film, with its telekinesis theme.

This is where it all started for me, friday the 13th part 3 when I was aged 9, got so shit scared I had to turn it off. Ever since then I've been hooked on horror, and especially friday the 13th.

For me it stopped getting good at 7 everything after was just bad and it's sad because part eight and nine are some of my favorite Jason's specifically for their look they just get wasted

Part 4 is the best movie of the entire franchise. Part 6 is probably the 2nd best and gives the franchise a well needed shot of adrenaline.
Also, Part 5 is a guilty pleasure because it's by far the sleaziest/trashiest movie of the franchise.

Jason's growth and transformation throughout the series is great. Even if the plots are extremely repetitive, they're still fun films to watch. Part VII has always been my favorite of the series. The look that Jason has, coupled with Kane Hodder's performance, will never be topped.

What always confusing me is how the final girl doesn’t get blamed for any of the killings. I would just feel they would try to pin it on her.

tbh anytime i rewatched this movie the whole everyone going into the barn to die reminded me of the Hinterkaifeck farm murders where all the family members were somehow according to the story, mysteriously lured into the barn and killed one by one but never solved
The next movie is honestly the first really good one. The first three have a lot of good moments but are mixed bags otherwise. Part IV really feels like the complete package, and along with part VI you get a better picture of why people love the series so much.
Yes, "The Final Chapter" and "Jason Lives" are two films that fans really love.
There's a film called 'behind the mask ' which is a pseudo comedy documentary which follows a masked serial killer around as he prepares a murderous spree. I think you guys might appreciate it.

When we were young, going to the movies was one of the few escapes from home. Going to the movies with a bunch of friends, maybe even a double-feature, was a great time - we would all have a great time laughing at the kills and the craziness of the slasher flicks, no one took them serious.
Tom is so wholesome, and I can tell Shaun likes to mess with that a bit. That part where Tom is like, "It's in your contract not to wear a bra." It's a staple of 80s horror movies to have T&A constantly in them. It was the late 90s and 2000s that made horror more PG.
Got to love a bit of disco Jason. I remember when I was a kid seeing Jason in the window towards the end freaked me right out.
This was actually the first Friday 13th I ever saw. Late night Friday horror movie nights with Mum.

Friday 4 and 6 may be the two best in the series. You don't have to watch 5, it's a bit of an offshoot from the main storyline and can be skipped without losing anything. I hope you guys check out 4 and 6 though.

Friday the 13th films focus on Jason's development throughout. You see Jason change throughout like the different injuries he gets from the characters.

Part 7 "Jason takes New York" is worth a watch and my favourite, part 10 "Jason X" when Jason wakes up hundreds of years in the future after being cryogenically frozen, and proceeds to massacre a bunch of people on a space station are great fun.

Are you kidding? He didn't get to NYC. whole movie was on a boat and it was boring as well. They get to New York only at the end and it's filmed in Vancouver!
Larry Zerner who played Shelly. He got the part out of shear luck. As a struggling actor/comedian was approached by someone asking if he wanted to be in a movie. He said yes and the rest is history.
I can't wait for you guys to watch The 4th! Its my favorite one of the series personally. Kane Holder though brings alot of life to Jason in the later films, plus he has a scene that at the time held the record for "Longest person on fire". Keep up with the series guys!
Part 4 and part 6 are my favourites, part 4 has some of the best practical gore effects and most sinister version of Jason. Part 6 is so self aware and introduces zombie Jason, I’m even a fan of part 5 🤷🏻♂️

Somebody's probably already mentioned this, but Jason's "baghead" look from the second film was scrapped mostly because of "The Elephant Man," which was released just before part two. It was pretty much impossible for audiences at the time to look at Jason and not think about John Merrick.
The hockey mask, apparently, was introduced because someone working on part three just happened to have one and the director liked the look.
The ending of the 2nd and 3rd movies are dream sequences.. That’s why Jason is still on the shack floor at the beginning of the 3rd... he never came through the window at the end of 2, it was a dream. Pamela is the lady in the lake. The 3rd is suppose to happen the next few days after the 2nd... there are so many continuity errors in the Friday the 13th movies but.. growing up on these movies... I didn’t care.. I love Em! Can’t wait to see your reaction to part 4, one of my favorites of the series!
