    Just had to replace mine at 85k miles. I think mine had been on the way out for a while though. That valve prevents vapors from the fuel tank from just venting into the air and apparently when it dies it can throw off the air/fuel mix entering the cylinders. I noticed for a while my truck would chug at low speeds (under 25MPH), but on the highway it was fine. I honestly thought it was just my imagination and that I was being hyper-critical of the truck.. until a few days ago when the CEL light came on as I was driving and a check of the codes came up with P0496. I also noticed that sometimes the truck would shudder when coming to a stop and that for a while now whenever I turned the truck on and the dash did it's initialization thing, the CEL would briefly come on but then go out. Now that it's been replaced not only does my truck freaking great now, the CEL no longer lights up when I start the truck. I'm figuring the ECU must have been detecting the problem but the valve hadn't failed completely until this past week.
    Unfortunately I didn't see this video until after I had brought it to the dealer to have it fixed, but I had a coupon to get some bucks taken off the bill and I had some other service done at the same time that I needed to have done. Now that I know what it is and how easy it is to replace, next time it happens I'm doing the work myself.

    Thank you for this video. Everything in the video is accurate and I was able to correct the problem with my 2015 colorado. I kept getting the code and also a few times the truck stalled when approaching a stop sign kind of fast. I also experienced the hard to start after filling up symptom. I changed out the part last week and cleared the code. I have noticed improved driving and no hard start after getting gas today. Thanks again.

    My 2015 Z71 was hard starting after refueling. And service light on. 2 10 day delivery Amazon $60. Same part #. Easy breast fix. If you can blow air through it then it is broken. A new one you cant blow through. Push in on the green tabs both sides to remove the plastic tubing. Be careful not to crack it. Not much room to move the tubing. Easy fix. 10mm socket with 3" extension.
    Easy fix. Dont forget to remove pos battery lug. 10mm also. Lol
    2 weeks light never came back.

    Thanks for the video. My customer had it in to the Chevrolet dealership for the P0496 and the SES light came back on as soon as they drove away. Turns out the o-ring on the valve got damage during install so the new part didn't work properly. I'm guessing the dealership didn't bother to test drive it after repairs.

    My only minor complaint about the video is you don't show us exactly where this part is in the engine. I’m sure i’ll be able to find it when I go look, but I currently have no idea where that is or where to start looking. Other than that, GREAT VIDEO, and I will be doing this ASAP on my 2016 Colorado which has 180k miles on it. That truck has been reliable as hell. Light came on a couple months ago. Have only had to replace the alternator and got a tuneup last spring/summer. That’s the most i’ve spent other than oil changes and tires/brakes/shocks/struts.

    • @drawer6815
      @drawer6815 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@SirWilliamGoes yes, you do, but without context to where that is I had no idea where to start looking. Is that the left, right, front, back, do I need to remove the cover, etc.? That’s all i’m saying. It would help to have a shot of the full engine compartment from several feet away, and then move the camera to the location of the part.
      Again, just some very minor constructive criticism. Everything else was perfectly explained and well done. After about a minute of looking around (started on the opposite side) I found the part, so my response is a little reactionary. I was just worried I was going to go on a wild goos chase. Much appreciated, sir. Keep up the good work.

      @@broskie5255 interesting. Did you purchase AC Delco sensor? I've had bad luck in the past with aftermarket sensors. It's possible You may have also gotten a bad sensor, perhaps you could try a different just to make sure
