Thank you fir your care with this Little Lady . Perfectly finished makes it appear nothing was ever done. Was always antique and simply done. Forst timf viewer.
So many challenges yet you made it something special! Someone will be lucky to have this in their home again. I was surprised how well the color tones evened out. So much sanding!!!
OMG. All the feels! Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful! What patience - and talent - you have. I'm in awe. I love your choice of paint color/finish with this charming dresser. I'm only hopping around TH-cam today, looking for tips on glazing over chalk paint. This is not one of my intended stops, but the dresser caught my eye, and your charming personality and ambition to redo it captivated me from the get-go, so I stayed for the whole adventure, and I have no regrets. Thanks for sharing this charming story with an oh-so-happy ending! -Karen 🥰
Me too. But maybe with the shellac layer the paint won’t penetrate too much into the wood grain. Maybe a future owner can make it restore it again. 🤷🏻♀️
This piece is just so beautiful! You made the wash perfect for both types of wood, they compliment each other. Great job! 👏🏻👏🏻Strangely, now the maple looks like the warner toned wood and the mahogany looks the cooler of the 2(at least in the pics) 🤪
I am glad it was you who refinished this old guy. It’s gorgeous! I am glad it was not painted by some immature refinisher that removes all the history and slaps it with latex paint.😳🧐😂
The light touch with the gel stain hit the spot perfectly for this piece. I am seeing this method (paint-wash followed by stain application) done by many youtubers...this one was particularly well explained, and the steps were spelled out at the right pace from my point of view. Thanks for sharing.
You are so welcome! Yes, the brown glaze makes a huge difference on this neutral finish. Glad you found the video informative and easy to understand. 😊
So much work, good for you. I would've preferred the hardware to have been spray-painted gold so it stands out better. I also would paint the decoration on the middle drawer withgold gilding wax. I think that would have been a slightly better look at the end. But beautiful job refinishing. A lot of the men who do this on TH-cam also make sure to put Howards feed N wax -- not just on the inside of the drawers but also the bottom of the unit and the back of the unit. Just a more complete "finish". Good luck with your excellent work.
If it is an antique, it’s a very young antique. Probably 1920s in a Louis 16th style. Very sweet with the flower garlands. You gave it a new lease of life. I’m sure someone is going to be very happy with it.
Hola Walessa, I’ve been watching your channel from California for sometime. I love your meticulous work. I always wondered what language you spoke since I noticed an accent, I thought it could be Spanish. Today it was confirmed, “fue amor a primera vista”. I have several prices of furniture that I want to flip. I’ve never done this type of work before. To be honest, it’s a bit intimidating. Thank you for sharing your techniques. Hasta la próxima vez, 👋
Hi! Yes, Spanish is my native language. 😊My only recommendation is to take one project at the time, and try to have fun. And of course, I’ll keep sharing anything I can along the way, hasta la próxima. 😊
So pretty!!!! trust the process 😂. When you applied the paint wash it looked so streaky, then it dried 😅 , then the glaze… then it dried. it came together so beautifully.
I might have done a patina preservation on this one but I bet you already have a clear plan for your project. I'm working on one now similar to yours but smaller and with a terrible amateur impatient paint job. I'm going to leave all the paint thats on it where it is but I'm going to feather everything out to a hand polish and apply multiple shades and more layers of finish material. The drawers are dry, brittle, weak. and splintering in some areas (probably from neglect and abuse over many years). I'm going to preserve the drawers with a burlap cloth/ fiberglass cloth and a thin epoxy layer just to encapsulate and preserve everything for another generation or two hopefully.
I’m afraid the patina was so bad it was coming off. A dark color stain would’ve been great too, I agree. Overall I don’t think you can go wrong with these style. Good luck with your project!
You did a beautiful job on a beautiful piece, although my wood-loving heart kind of wishes you had gone with the natural wood - I thought the two-tone look was really cool!
I love this piece especially the molds looks so French and elegant the color is perfect on a side note what tú hablas español blew me away tu ácento no es como el mio well mine is Tex mex 😂my last name gives it away anyway chica te quedo muy bonito 😊
The molds made me fall in love with it, and yes, so elegant. Spanish is my first language, since I'm a native speaker I don't have an accent when speaking it. However, I have an accent when speaking English, my friends say it's a soft one, muchisimas gracias😊
It turned out beautiful. Can you tell me if you put a top coat before the glaze and if you didn't how long did you wait for the paint wash to dry? I've seen this technique but they usually put a top coat in between the paint and the glaze.
She has all the charm of yesterday with a fresh new look. Great job!
I couldn’t have said it better! 😊

I think you’re right! The mohagony looks like the lighter wood now. 😊And thank you, I’m glad you liked it too.

I don’t have anything against paint, as long as it’s done correctly. Latex paint it’s definitely not a favorite of mine.
Nothing else can be said, but Beautiful. I wish I had the vision and skills to do such remarkable work.
Thank you, and if I can do it, so can you. ☺️

I hope you get a lot for it.
It's perfectly updated while preserving all of its old charm!
Thank you! After doing some research I believe this guy it’s from the 1930’s
mixing a course grit sand with your glue or epoxy to fill larger area gaps/ damage works well.
Love the bleached look
