Hello from Alaska! We are moving to Ohio! Good to know the woodlands have morels. Never heard of those other odd shaped mushrooms. Thanks for sharing :)
Thanks for the info. The only issue I have found with the peckerheads is that I am always too late and they are too soft lol. I still take them and try to dry them out a bit before cooking.
I thought for sure the blonds would be up way bigger by this time. Gonna hit my spot up tomorrow in Columbiana county. I have a feeling its gonna be a great day
Summit County has been slow. Everything seems to be a bit small right now but I bet this weekend and early next week will be great! I am heading to PA public land this evening. Going to see if there is anything there.
That was a gray which is the same as the yellow one that you picked and as far as the size I pick them all because I sell them all people like them when they’re little bite-size
I don't like to pick them small but when on public land, if I don't pick them, someone else will. Private land I will let them sit for a bit longer. Thanks for the comment!
Thank you for watching! Happy Hunting..

Just a heads up, verpa bohemica (peckerheads) are in the same morchella family as morels. Some people prefer them.
