Thank you for posting this! I was about twelve when Up came out and it was my first introduction to Peter Gabriel, still one of my favorite records. Over a decade later and it still sounds like a modern record.
You contradict yourself...... You want to see PG & Genesis play the "same old shit, but criticize PG for playing the "same old shit". I wonder if you saw the New Blood tour????
Are you talking about me? and if so well i think that New Blood was a way for Peter to make money for his kids year off in 2013!! and you might disagree about that, but i think Peter made GENESIS and alot of fans miss him it's not the same with PHil and not because i don't think that he doesn't doa great job, it's NOT THE SAME!!Well as far as i know i think Peter is the one contradicting himself he's the one saying that he what's to move forward and he's the one making all these makeover songs of his greatest hits.And well he really hasn't made a album in the last 15 years!!!! and don't talk to me about the song that was releast in june for ALI YOU KNOW (AMAZING).That just pissed me off that he didn't releast that song when ALI was aliveto think Peter would stoop so low and take adventage of his death really PISSES ME OFF!!! I even emailed Peter about this and that he maybe should give a % of the sales to PARKINSON FOUNDATION and well on REPLY!!! VERY SAD :(
Peter never talks about way he wrote the songs he wrote what and who are they about.Is it about people he knows family WHAT!!!! WE KNOW WHO'S ON YOUR RECORDS. TELL US WAY YOU WROTE THESE SONGS AND ABOUT WHO!!!!
@@bathsaltshero I'm not disputing Peter's genius, and I love your passionate dissemination of his music, but a perfect example to me is The Barry William Show. There is a live TV version on YT that is just fantastic, and blows away the studio version because of its organic feel; this is the point I am making, if only the album was not so over-done, over-produced and maintained a more organic feel it would have been better. This is to my taste though, of course I realise music is always a subjective thing. ;)
@@bathsaltshero yes, he has the ability to make a sound timeless yet relevant to the time period, like with Scratch for example he was trying out punk aesthetics, but with his own 'flavour'. Good points! I think just personally I have a love/hate relationship with the over-use of recording operations, on the one hand I love a more organic sound, on the other I don't mind layer-upon-layer etc. Just depends on the day of listening :)
ANOTHER TOUR AGIAN WITH STING AND THE SAME OLD SAME OLD SHIT:'( You know i think Peter and genesis should have done a reunion in the year 2000 it would have been 25 years that he had left the band and that would have been something to pay good money to see maybe even have the BBC cover it live so that people that could not go and see it live they would have seen it on TV, but NO LET'S DO ANOTHER TOUR OF ALL THE OLD SHIT!!! REALLY FOR SOMEONE WHO LOOKS TO THE FUTURE HE IS REALLY GOING BACKWORDS:( AND STAYS IN THE PAST, P.S. THIS ALBUM DIDN'T DO SO WELL:( IT'S OK! (MAYBE IT'S BECAUSE HE MARRIED A GARDEN GNOME!)

this album ironically suffered from a lack of spontaneity. The tracks feel too pristine and over-laboured.
