I've said this a million times and I will again, I can not believe how far you have come in these 2 or so years! It still boggles my mind, and for the most part alone! Wow sir! - Gary
Hi Daryl and Merry Christmas to you and all of your family. You’ve done a fabulous job on the layout in the last two years. It’s great to look back at the progress you made. Looking forward to seeing what 2024 will bring to the layout and what it will look like next Christmas. Not meaning to wish a year of our lives away….we’ll get there slowly!
Thanks for the comparison of the start to present day! Totally awesome! Thanks again for sharing! Love everything UNION PACIFIC!! MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!
Dear Daryl, definitely deserves a compliment for all of your accomplishments! Love the way the fascia color is emphasizing the focal point towards the layout. Also, love the lighting, especially where you have taken out the shades. Always thought the different levels could have used a slight bit more separation. However, as the eye now gets enchanted by the full view, it makes sense! Plus, the point you’ve made before, of how to reach the dispatch area inside the helix definitely is a great asset. Love the overall looks and the interactions with the backdrops. Wishing you and your loved ones splendid holidays and a prosperous year ahead! Cheerio
Yes. Journey to do background on remaining part, go by quickly! Enjoy operating modern theme, and find copy American Association of Railroads interchange rules (years service life). How old railcar.
That was a good presentation from start to almost the end, well it's been said a layout is never finished. Its incredible how far you come in a short period of time. Merry Christmas Daryl and family.
Just amazing how far you have progressed, I actually am 1/2 way through watching from the start again , so helpful and informative, Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year from the wonderful land of Aussie 🇦🇺👍
Wow!! Loved the update. Amazing how far you’ve come in such a short time. What you refer to as “minimal scenery” would suffice for many a modeler, including me. Eagerly awaiting not only the next update, but also your MRP article in 2025. Keep up the great work and a very merry Christmas to you and your family!!
Nice job all the way Daryl. An amazing project. Massive expanse. Colors all look great together. Ballast done Wow! I hope the extra Tonnage won’t collapse the grid work! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and yours! 🎉
Hi Daryl, from the start to where you are now the layout is looking great. Still, lots of work in 2024 to complete this layout. Also, to you and your family Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Keep up your great work in our hobby of HO trains. Mike HO from Australia.
hello Daryl & it's is Randy and i like yours video is cool thanks Daryl friends Randy & Merry Christmas & Happy New Year's & The Best in the New Year's 2024 Daryl Thanks Friends Randy
Congratulations, Daryl, on your remarkable progress in such a short time! I have to say, as a resident of the Cowboy State, we only *wish* it was so green in southwest Wyoming! Otherwise, you're doing a great job of capturing our state's "scenic quarter!" 😅 Question for you: I see you use LED tape lights. How do you avoid the light flicker I get when I shoot photos or video of my layout under similar lights? Thanks for sharing your layout through great videos, and Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones!
So, I have visited the Evanston Sub twice, both time in May/June when the spring rains had everything pretty green. So, that's how the layout looks. Have done anything about led flicker. MERRY CHRISTMAS 🌲
You have done so much in such a short period of time, can't wait to see what 2024 brings for us. How in the heck did you keep all that sawdust from getting over all of your tracks and locomotives in some of those earlier build stages? - Steve
Not really. If I did N scale I would just add more miles between control points and a few more yard trqcks, but not too much more complexity. 96 turnouts is about as much as I want in a layout I build and maintain solo.
How in the heck did you get all this by your wife? I bet the deals you have had to make with her are as important as making this whole layout. You probably have NO say about what goes on upstairs....right? (haha)

@@EvanstonSub and you nailed May/June in southwestern Wyoming. Well done, sir!
Great video Loved the progress you made. I thought you were going to show curvo before you put the grass there when it looked like snow.
That would be cool. Doing snow is not easy.
Great video
Thanks for the visit
You have done so much in such a short period of time, can't wait to see what 2024 brings for us. How in the heck did you keep all that sawdust from getting over all of your tracks and locomotives in some of those earlier build stages? - Steve
Lots of vacuuming.
Sometimes I think how immense the layout would be if it were still in N scale! But still very much immense in HO! Does that ever cross your mind?
Not really. If I did N scale I would just add more miles between control points and a few more yard trqcks, but not too much more complexity. 96 turnouts is about as much as I want in a layout I build and maintain solo.
Are you ever gonna weather and graffiti some.of your rolling stock? That's my favorite part of the hobby
Yes, eventually all the rolling stock will be weathered.
@EvanstonSub that's awesome I can't wait to see
I know you're retired, but that is still a lot of work in that first year
Thanks
Hope I can get that much done on the KCS/L&A Ry Hope Sub in the same amount of time😊
You can do it!!
How in the heck did you get all this by your wife? I bet the deals you have had to make with her are as important as making this whole layout. You probably have NO say about what goes on upstairs....right? (haha)
She's great. It's also helps that the layout has been mostly funded by the sale of my N Scale collection and this TH-cam channel.
