Cost comparison has some shortcomings. The ~100km range of the BYD was taken from the manufacturer and sales agent (19:00) which was probably achieved through controlled testing. The consumption of 8km/l for a gasoline car is arguably pessimistic and taken as an extreme case. For a fairer comparison, the manufacturer claimed fuel consumption of gasoline cars should also be used. Even assuming 20km/l though, it still doesn't beat the figure of the BYD however it is arguably closer. Even then, other costs should then be considered like maintenance.
I saw an owners review in the youtube and he said practically the combined gas consumption is 16-17kpl. He's running on various speed in the highway. The 16-17kpl consumption is good enough I will not complain it anymore. Corolla Cross is more efficient averaging 20kpl but SL6 is more enjoyable to drive.

I've always been eyeing the Mitsubishi Triton to becoming my first car, but I have been having a bunch of second thoughts since the more I think about it, I'm not really gonna be carrying that much cargo or any cargo thats super heavy, so I've been starting to look more towards crossovers, especially the likes of the BYD SeaLion 6, seeing as its still got a good amount of cargo space, and is more practical for me since its a PHEV, making it practical for Long Drives, and even just normal city driving, and it has a lot more space in the 2nd row and no center tunnel either. However, I also have my own personal concerns about the SL6 (Sea Lion 6). Of course, theres the question of reliability and yes, I do know that the reliability of chinese cars have improved significantly over the last few years, I still have a few doubts, especially compared to a brand like mitsubishi that my family has owned for more than a decade. And then theres my own question on how well exactly it handles floods. Pickups nowadays have around 700-800mm, some even getting close to 850-900mm wading depth, but crossovers like the SeaLion 6 have a lower wading depth compared to pickups and ppvs, and I've tried looking everywhere, but I couldn't find any info related to the wading depth on the SL6. It is honestly the biggest factor for me at the moment since I plan to move to the NCR, and from what I've heard, there are parts of manila that are quite prone to floods (pls correct me if I'm wrong😅)... I know its kinda odd to compare a Triton to the SL6, but for me these 2 are the most likely ones for me to choose from for my first car..😅 the Triton has its tried and tested reliability, cargo capacity (since its a pickup), one of, if not, the best 4x4 systems in it's class, and it can probably handle a flood or two. But then theres the SL6 which is much more practical for me in city driving, fuel efficiency, size since it feels more spacious in the interior and I feel like it will probably be easier to maneuver in tighter spots compared to pickups like the Triton. 😅
Same here, we’re planning to buy a new car and all types have been considered but whenever I thought about floods, bad roads, speed humps, appliances needs fixing, a piece of plywood to fix something, camping once in awhile, biking out of town, etc… considering all of these, we need a pick up truck but on the other hand driving smaller car’s a breeze in the city that’s why it’s really hard to decide.

@@MochizukiYuuseiSiguro taimtim na dasal ang kailangan. For sure narinig at nabalitaan mo na yung BYD Shark? Pickup truck with DM-I tech innards.
@@vastac13 Yes po actually, I've heard of the BYD Shark and I've watched multiple reviews about it na from other car reviewers, right now actually I might consider the BYD Shark as a much more likely buy than the SL6 based on the reviews that I've already watched. It's spacious, has a decent payload capacity (considering how it's rear suspension is Independent Coil Springs instead of Leaf Springs), has really good fuel economy, and from what I know has a wading depth of around 700+mm, which is just about average for current pick-ups (700-900mm range). But for me it will honestly depend on price to see if it will be a better value ute/pickup compared to the Triton. As much as I want to stick to having my family having mainly Mitsu cars, I want to be able to experience owning cars from the perspective of owning vehicles from other brands, not just Mitsubishi😅Hopefully lng BYD actually decides to bring the Shark here, and considering that the Ute/Pick-up segment here is getting quite competitive, It's not impossible for them to actually bring it here to the PH

Well, While the production of EV batteries can generate higher emissions due to mining and manufacturing maraming studies that show that over the vehicle's lifetime, EVs typically result in lower total emissions compared to gasoline cars, especially as the grid becomes greener. Also, Battery recycling technologies are improving, which can help mitigate some environmental impacts related to battery production and disposal. Another thing sa mga regions where renewable sources like solar, wind, hydro are used, yung overall carbon footprint of charging EVs is much lower than that of gasoline vehicles.
@@ridewithlevi6418 Correct. The best partner for an EV or PHEV is a source of renewable energy in your own home. You get maximum savings from your EV purchase. Unfortunately a source of renewable energy to charge an EV is something that 99.9% of the population doesn't have.
I had the option to go for these last month. Instead, i chose a Japanese crossover hybrid with a torquey engine for its weight. Let's see after a few years how these BYD Sealion will fare in our country. I tried sitting in one during a mall visit, the interior was just wow for its price.
Nissan kicks can't compete with byd sealion in terms sa hybrid. The kick's battery is too small. Our family owns this model and is very much worth it. Give it a test ride and see it for yourself.

Have you seen there production line? It’s easy to tell kung saan sila nagcut cost, they make their own materials from the ground up. And they make their own battery. Plenty of sources = lower price materials If they can produce it efficiently and in large amount bawi na sila even they sell it cheap.

Magkano pagpa palit ng battery nya if ever masira or it needs to be replaced already? I heard it cost mora than P400,000+ to change a PHEV battery. Is this true?
If out of warranty na it will cost you 200k at most
Homaygaddd 200k... 😮
@@AndrewR10001 ang alam ko yung 200k is yung battery ng hybrid which is much smaller. Yung PHEV baka umabot ng 500k to 900k. This is for toyota/honda and other cars.

This car requires PREMIUM fuel. That’s the main downside that’s not highlighted enough. And the reason is reliability.
Definitely for the metro. I would consider the Sealion 6 since there are chargers available sa malls
Outside the metro a Toyota hybrid is the smarter choice.
Problem is, mall chargers are becoming crowded. Time will come, it won't be advisable to rely on mall charging.
Hindi naman kailangan 95 RON para sa ICE? Kahit yung 91 pupwede na kasi 90% of the time yung ICE serves as a generator unless sobrang bigat ng paa mo at magiging tandem na sila ng electric motor.
@@paolosy1293 yeah kaya nga hybrids like this car are the more realistic solution. If pwede magcharge sure. If hindi, the generator can charge the car for you. And yes this works like Nissan’s e-Power.

BYD SeaLion charging stats using a wall charger.
Charging Point Max Power Power Time to Charge Rate Range
Wall Plug (2.3 KW) 230V / 1x10A 2.3KW 7h57m 13km/h 100km/battery
So lets do some math....All three vehicles are in the 1.5M range brand new
2.3KW x 8 hours = 18.4KWH (the total KWH needed to charge a BYD SeaLion to have a range of 100KM)
18.4KW x Php12.00 (cost of Meralco per KWH) = Php220 to travel 100km if used strictly as an EV
a 2024 Toyota Yaris Cross TOTL averages 20 kilometers to the liter
100 km / 20 = 5 liters
5 x Php55.00 = Php275 to travel the same 100 km distance of the Sea Lion
a 2024 Honda BRV 1.5L 7 seater TOTL average around 16 km to the liter
100 / 16 = 6.25 Liters
4.54 liters x php55.00 = Php343
The Honda doesn't need a replacement battery.
Choice is yours

Maganda nga sir Levi, naiisip kolang sakaling magka geyera ang Pinas at tyayna di kaya macontrol nila mga EV cars nila biglang pasabugin or disabled nila lahat ng made in tyayna hahaha!

Yes pwede nila gamitin yan mga China cars in the event of WW3. Good luck nlng sa mga bibili
Walang hindi made in China sa USA. Don't overthink.

Yesssss na oaka technical mo tlaga mag review
I had the option to go for these last month. Instead, i chose a Japanese crossover hybrid with a torquey engine for its weight.
Let's see after a few years how these BYD Sealion will fare in our country. I tried sitting in one during a mall visit, the interior was just wow for its price.
Nissan kicks can't compete with byd sealion in terms sa hybrid. The kick's battery is too small. Our family owns this model and is very much worth it. Give it a test ride and see it for yourself.
Because i know how Chinese companies works, i will never dare to buy Chinese car, kahit magkaroon ako ng limpaklimpak na pera.
+1 if your experience driver u dont need a lot of this tech maybe backing camera or dashcam so much gimick this day that keep adding useless stuff on cars
Have you seen there production line? It’s easy to tell kung saan sila nagcut cost, they make their own materials from the ground up. And they make their own battery. Plenty of sources = lower price materials
If they can produce it efficiently and in large amount bawi na sila even they sell it cheap.
Go check prices for example of toyota corolla made in china vs corolla sold here, it’s half the amount priced in China than here. Lol
