If your handwriting is bad and your typing speed is good, the computer tests might be better for you. But if you are not confident inn your typing speed then the paper tests are better for you. But I must mention that computer tesys have certain advantages over paper tests like for the reading section you can easily copy words from the passage and paste it on the answer part. As for writing, you can see the word count at the bottom of the screen. Word count in the writing section is important since not reaching the minimum limit will make you loose atleast 1 band. But in paper tests, if you have practiced before on a IELTS writing answer script, then you will have a general knowledge on which part of which page you will be able to reach the minimum word limit. As for listening test, you will get 2 minutes probably (not sure) to copy the answers. This is different from paper tests because here you are not taking notes on the question paper, you are directly answering the questions.
I’ve tried both, and I find the Computer Based exam better. Computer based has less distractions. Moreover, in writing, you don’t have to count again and again your words because it will show up on the screen.
The cost of an IELTS test in Canada ranges between $309 and $335. The price for the exam is the same whether you take IELTS General Training or IELTS Academic. There is no separate registration fee or payment processing fee.
Develop your skimming and scanning skills, that helps a lot weh finding the correct answer. Additionally, don't forget that in IELTS they mostly use synonyms where the answer is, don't guide yourself with direct language. Finally, get familiar with each question type
